- John Trumbull's painting "The Declaration of Independence" shows Thomas Jefferson presenting the first draft to Congress, which was signed by 56 men. Two hundred and forty one years later, the portrait was brought to life by descendents of the signers. Elaine Quijano has the story.

How do you think they feel learning about their ancestors in school
Amazing videos1515 I always think that about the British royal family. Must be bizarre learning about what all your direct ancestors did
Barney I know right
"My great great great grandfather *owns* you"
I’m descended from Benjamin Franklin, and non of our schoolmates believe it until they hear it from our mother’s lolol
Why wouldnt their families already know!
Just remember it is never your appearance that's important. It's your behavior. What our Founding Fathers did by signing that document was risk their very lives. The penalty for waging rebellion against the British crown was death. I can't help but wonder how many of us have the guts to do something like that should we ever find ourselves in the same set of circumstances.
Your appearance was important then. Though, you are right! It must have taken major guts to rebel against the king.
Those were real men I guarantee no one in today society will ever stand up to the government or fed that way
And thus they changed the world forever, just imagine a world without USA
Like 90% of Democrats say that they would run if America was invaded today. The left has almost completely destroyed this country.
They were all racists, their legacy is tarnished
There is no question Andrea Livingston is a descendant of Philip Livingston. She looks just like him.
Kevin Spacey looks like him.
Yeah!. I also think that her face is more alike than those majority in there no offense to them.
It's the eyes.. round and slightly bulging.. very distinctive.. how good was the artist who painted Grandpa Livingston that were able to see a resemblance to an 8th great grandchild ?!?
Yeep!!n she look a lil Asian, or maybe im wrong.might. have been in his bloodline too
The genius of Thomas Jefferson to insert the goals of the declaration into our country's DNA to set the course of the nation to reaching upward: not just then, not just now, but for all times to come.

boyf riends fun fact: Hamilton was only 19 when he joined congress, and Aaron burr was 18. The musical doesn’t show this, but it’s interesting that the founding fathers were actually really young when they rebelled against Britain- except Benjamin Franklin.

The play is nice, the director is garbage. Can't stand Miranda and his socialist views.

Equality didn't mean the same thing to the Founders as it does today.
It was a matter of principle and not practice. We all have an ideal but fall short, look at you.
Yeah, there was a tacit "Except for black and indigenous people", running throughout their assertions and declarations of freedom, liberty and equality! They gave lip service to these ideals but their actions towards people of African and Native American descent created, ensured and perpetuated a different brutal reality. Willfully blind visionaries 😕
@@Soozeeqz222 slavery had nothing to do with race go the founding fathers slavery was just basically what we had for tractors as awful as that comment sounds. But the ideals were that everyone was treated equally and under laws and the laws were fair and justified
Which is based

Francis Hopkinson (October 2, 1737 - May 9, 1791) was an American Founding Father, lawyer, jurist, author, and composer. He designed Continental paper money and two early versions of flags, one for the United States and one for the United States Navy.He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence in July 1776 as a delegate from New Jersey.Hopkinson served in various roles in the early United States government including as a member of the Second Continental Congress and as a member of the Navy Board. He became the first federal judge of the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania on September 30, 1789.

Has it ever occurred to you that there are people who have been in this country for nearly six generations who aren’t white?
Our Founding Fathers would roll in there graves if they seen what we have done to this Country
You make a point.

"We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are...you know the thing...." - Vice President Joe Biden
@Jason Bailey He's not President Elect yet. He IS however, the proud owner of the largest voter fraud organization in history.
@Jason Bailey Biden said it. Nice try.
@Jason Bailey Heh. If that was the only video of Joe with his foot in his mouth you might have an argument.
@Jason Bailey Your TDS is pretty severe. Deep down you know Biden is a clunker.
@Jason Bailey If the recounts show he won, then he won. But there are too many questions, and Bidens open admission that he is running the largest election fraud ring in history means this election will always have an asterisk after it. The good news is the adults hold the Senate, so Biden is a lame duck on day one.
John Adams decedent pride
Same here 😄Well mostly Samuel Adams, but they were cousins!
The Founding Fathers would be offended by this.

Everybody is committed to be equal
at this moment in time maybe America needs to look at how 'history' looks today in all its glorious color...and respect it.
a thoughtful and inspiring image.
All its glorious white color. Thankfully, they weren't forcing their brethren, sons and daughters to accept diversity. They actually had some self respect.
Virik Navarro ,
Um.. you do know those people are children of rape right?
michael roylance I think both representations are beautiful
We know that Prince Harry is the 6th great grandson of King George III. We have Jefferson's sixth great grandson. Hamilton's equivalent progeny exists as well. Someone should gather them all, as well. Seeing this diverse group, gives one hope.
William is the progeny of the Windsor House. Harry is almost certainly the son of Diana's guard captain.
Diversity is stupid and gayyy.
Diversity of thought however, pretty solide.
All I heard was these people judging people who lived in a time of different morals, while whining about foolish, irrelevant things.
I'm a descendant of Alexander Hamilton and am as well educated as he was and have the personality of him as well with my enormous and arrogant pride lol
Diversity and unity is what makes America strong not weak. Seeing all the descendants of our founding fathers shows that we’re all created equal no matter what your background is.
I think they have chosen the people depending on what image of usa they wanted to give for instance maybe here they wanted to emphasize the image of a multi-ethnical usa so they have chosen multi-color to make it multi- ethnical (that's what i think maybe i'm wrong)
To some extent this is true, yes. These are certainly not all of the descendants of the FFs. I know one of the participants; they were notified then could apply to participate if I recall correctly.

What dose that mean?
Wow that was fascinating. They should turn this into a documentary.

Robert Morris Jr. (January 20, 1734 - May 8, 1806) was an English-born merchant and a Founding Father of the United States. I find it hard to believe one can loose his family and such famous last name and then reemerge without knowing you were related....I mean, it hasn't been that long...Thomas Jefferson died in the 1820s and the last signing member of the declaration of independence in the 1830s that's 30 years prior to the American civil war, the last American civil war soldiers died in the 1950s...that's really not so long ago....maybe 4-5 generations....for example I remember my great-grandparents and they told us about their parents and great parents, they took us to their graves and their last names and how they use to tell them stories about life in the world before cars and electricity....so again I find it hard to believe this people didn't know they were related to such famous individuals...but ok.
