I know who could help save Eternia now, Mo-Larr! the Eternian dentist! they gave him a legit toy and backstory. If they put him this show would be Amazing!
I actually have him, since he was the only way I could get regular Classics Skeletor for under $100.
Anyone else miss the 2003 version of He-man after watching this new version? Seriously that show did He-Man justice, giving all the Masters and Villains a wide range of personalities.Hell it's what made Stinkor my favorite He-Man Character.
In this new show, if your name isn't Teela, Andra, Evil-Lyn, Orko or Roboto, you're basically as generic as possible.
Agreed, that show is underrated and deserved better.
Agree the 2002 series to me is better than the original, and its tragic it ended because you can tell the show was gearing toward a She-Ra appearance. There was a character design for her character never used.
Orko should've been the hero of Revaluations.
Prove me wrong.
I agree! He’s more interesting than Teela. Teela is just boring and to me, it hurt the show.
He deserves more yeah, i always loved him.
Had they made a season of He-man and the Heroic Warriors fighting Skeletor and his warriors to establish the universe then at the end of the season killed off He-man and Skeletor as a cliff hanger I think the show then focusing on Teela and Evil Lynn for a while in season 2 would have played better. But to kill off the two main characters before even establishing what the norm is in this universe and straight away handing the show over to Teela, her new diverse sidekick and Evil Lynn comes across as the typical repetitive pandering we see in every franchise now in the place of creative writing and storytelling.
I feel that five episodes is too short a timespan to tell this story. I know more is coming out, but what's there all ready feels like it's been rushed from plot point to plot point, leaving nothing any time to settle. What's more, the threat is almost non-existent. They *tell* us how difficult a quest this will be, but because it all happens so fast, this challenge to overcome is functionally irrelevant. Even if more episodes were released, it'd still be too fast in its pacing.
Not to mention Evil Lyn's face-heel turn at the end with the BS resurrection of Skeletor.
Lyn is probably going to turn out good after all and backstab Skeletor.
Mark Hamill's Skeletor sounded like the joker to me but other wise the voice acting was great. I'm glad we got more he man content.
Actually, Dreamworks was not involved with 'Revelation'.
I'm waiting for the Eternian dentist, Mo-Larr.
Rob is one of those people who don't age
Thank you for mentioning some positive notes.
I have already more than enough... upset about this series and wasted anger, downright....
All this talk of "This Show is rated W - for WOKE" Right... and even all these marketing lies I could still see past. But only... if Teela and the others were interesting characters... and this agenda didn't always have to be pushed that women are superior to men "because" they are women... if they develop and rise above then yes, but not because they have a vagina. This... is... bullshit.
I'm a lesbian myself and I've never been so angry and disappointed about one animated show.
Yeah, turning classic male heroes into goofy jobbers or depressed failures to make the heroine stand out is annoying and gives alt-righters more material to twist for their own agenda.
Totally agree we need Rio Blast he is such a cool character and never got a animated version plus he can be a crossover character with the Bravestar universe!!
Great review Rob! Um yeah I did not like Revelation. I personally thought Teela was obnoxious the way she was written. If I check out the next episodes then it will only be as a curiosity kind of thing. The 2000 show is still the best show to me
As someone who hasn't seen much of anything related to "Masters of the Universe," I thought this was a decent show. Teela and her crew had some nice character development, a lot of the action scenes were cool, and the animation was well done. I especially liked how frightening Subternia was and Preternia looked gorgeous with its bright colors and cool animals, especially the dinosaurs. Although, I agree that killing off He-Man and Skeletor in the first episode was not a good idea. Even with that, I'm still curious to see where they go with this series.
King Hiss Intervention before SKELETOR comes back to full SKELERGOD story! aka the SNAKE MEN return to TAKE A BITE OF SKELETOR.
I'm sticking with He- Man and the Master of the Universe 2003 because at least the Series is not too seriously or dark like masters of the universe revelation. And this story is about Teela instead of Prince Adam.
There were a lot of nice easter eggs but it fell flat for me outside of that. The new outfits are all so bland. Stripped of their color and detail. I'm tired now of the deconstructionalist, subverting expectations writing that Hollywood types seem to love but that never satisfies the audience/customers.
Agreed. As much as I enjoy deconstructions... I just want to _enjoy_ things toi!
So your talking about Teela And The Masters of the Universe?
Don't worry. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe still exists.
I’m looking forward to the OG She-Ra review. But I don’t want to force you to do it right away. Take all the time you need. I know how real life can get in the way of fandoms.
I'd love to see OG She-ra make an appearance, but last I heard licensing issues will probably nix that. Would be neat though, especially if they could get her voice actress from the DreamWorks show.
Maybe they'll at least give her a new action figure in the Masterverse line.
It would be hilarious at the end of the show when Skeletor is running away after he's been defeated. A pink Cadillac lands on him and they find Orko still alive asking what he missed.
I haven’t checked in for a while now. You lost some weight and seem like you’re in a good place. Glad to see.
Can your next Rob watches be The Scooby Doo/Courage crossover?
To me skeletons always sound like skeletor or Jamaican
Lol i know why you said Jamaican Mandy.
Do Sergeant Savage and his Screaming Eagles
I was pretty curious to see what revelations brings to the table for its next part .
Vikor ooks top be based off the first prototype figure for He-Man when being pitched to Mattel.
I'm a Huge fan of Motu so I'm bias. Great video, well articulated! New subscriber here! Thanks!
I gotta say, this is probably the better review I’ve seen of this show so far.
Most of the “reviews” that talk about this show were….not handle well. Like I get the controversy around it, and even I agree the comments on why hired someone who isn’t a fan of He man to make a He man cartoon? Seriously?
And yes, I do agree that Teela character was not great. Like, it nots bad. It not awful like Rey character from Star Wars ( At least Teela background made sense, and she even has knowledge of combat unlike Rey ) , but at the same time it wasn’t executed well.
The problem I have with most reviews of this show is they barely gave it a fair or honest review. Instead, it becomes mostly a long rant involving the controversy, and maybe a few comments on the show, but not too much.
Not to mention, most of them probably never seen the original or 2002 He man, and only think they’re “fans” just by watching a few episodes and that’s it. And thinking they can critique the show, based off of the controversy, or small research from unreliable sources without understanding some core of He man lore.
Personally I thought the show was….fine, but it wasn’t as great.
However if they do continue, I hope we get to see more He man. Like you can have Teela be the main character and have some characters death here and there, but make sure HE MAN and SKELETOR get the spotlight.
Don't agree with the Rey stuff, (that scene where she fights off scavengers going after BB-8 established she's had experience combating snipes) but I concur about the lack of honesty from other "reviewers" who clearly only care about exploiting outrage for their own ends than actually giving Revelations a fair look.
Thanks. I just want to say to I really liked the show. I am myself a fan of MoTU and it is really fun to watch the show and see how all the minor characters get their own development, not just as a left hand to main characters. He-Man vs Skeletor that is old news! I am really looking forward to see which characters they will bring into the spotlight next!
Hi Rob - Bob here. I agree with you about Orko. But that is not why I'm here. I have one question for you that you didn't answere in the vid. How do you think that Masters of the Universe Revelations ends?
That was good. I eagerly await season 2
9:00 Ever since TLJ trailer i dont trust any trailer now, no matter how good they are. 14:54 ya think!? LOL you obviously havnt seen most other oldskool MOTU/HE-MAN fan's reaction and overall feelings on this then especially Clownfish Tv. Oh and fans are hating this version of Teela, havnt seen this series but they're saying she literally comes across like a Karen by the end.
Compared to how brutal DC and Marvel comics would getjust for shock value, this show handles characters deaths much better, and they are at least heroic and have weight.
In Ultimates for example, the story would hand out pointlessly gratuitous and violent death to anyone good and bad, just to be edgy.
I for one liked Masters of the Universe Revelation but Kevin Smith really should've been more honest about it.
14:17 Well, that's a sour note to end on!
I was looking forward to your thoughts on this one, especially considering all the complaints about it.
Then there's what they did to He-Man himself. I'm not even a big Masters of the Universe fan and I was ticked off!
The black woman is going to be the next he-man because reasons.
Revelation is not worth it
I have no problem with a female lead in an action show/movie, ( wonder woman, Captain Marvel, the mlp cast) but killing off the main character in a pre-established franchise to make way for a new, female lead is not the way to do it, it's almost as if having all the males in a show be dead, evil, stupid, or stupidly evil is the only way to make the females seen compliment completely defeats the perpoise of shows like, is the sign of a bad and/ or lazy weighter, and is similaniously sexiest against both sexes, just tack the extra time to come up with a new I.P. with new well written characters.
Mar-Vell and Genis-Vell are better than Carol imo.
This was best review for this show that I have seen. Unlike so many you gave this show fair shake instead of bitching and moaning how it doesn't fit your sensibilities and how Kevin smith should be punished for it. Seriously all that bitching and moaning that those people do is tiresome.
I may not be a HUGE He-Man fan but I'd do respect the He-Man fans But I'd think this Masters of the Universe Revelation it was Okay they got the lore of He-Man right the animation is Great and the voice actors are Great But it's writing could have be better but it's NOT The WORST Show that came out But at least it's Can't be as BAD as ThunderCats Roar right? But all seriousness this show is Okay But I'd take She-Ra and the Princesses of Power over this Masters of the Universe Revelation series but it could have been better
I thought it was pretty good. While a lot of characters didn’t get a lot of (or any) screen time, but it was still a fun ride (Orko had me tearing up in episode 3).
And characters I’d like to see in part 2?
Maybe Buzz-Off, Extendar, Man-E-Faces, I think it would be funny if they had someone like Rokkon or Gwindlor (the not-Orko from the movie)
…and Panthor! I don’t think Panthor was even in the first part!
Honestly, I'm glad the story went in the direction it did concentrate on Teela and the other supporting cast. It is called Masters of the Universe anyway. But I was impressed they got me to care about Orko. But I love Teela and Andra already.
I like that concept. There are so many under developed characters in the franchise. But sadly the series didn't really give any much focus other than Teela who I found quite unlikable. Robot and Orko only got a moment each to then make their almost instant death afterwards a bit of impact.
I hate how they re-designed all the characters to look bland and boring. It makes no sense. Why take away all the detail and color and replace it with plain brown? Why ignore all the hundreds of interesting characters with unique abilities and instead shoe horn in a black washed Andre with no powers, abilities or even an interesting visual design? Just another character wearing plain brown.
This series sounds like it pulled the same tactic as Terminator: Dark Fate of killing off the main male protagonist and primarily focusing on the female characters just to fulfill this forced dumb feminist woke agenda that a lot of entertainment media projects nowadays have been guilty of all because of that stupid #metoo movement.
Also, I get the feeling that if Kevin Smith had directed the Star Wars sequel trilogy, he would have somehow done a worse job than J.J. Abrams if that was even possible, lol.
So, you're pissed off women exist. I see.
@@sebastianmoreno5814 I’m referring to how female characters are written nowadays in media as though they’re required to be strong willed man hating mary sues as had been seen with Disney’s live action remakes for example. Unlike how female characters were so well written in the past such as with Ellen Ripley, Leía Organa, Sarah Conner, and Katniss Everdeen.
@@TheArceusftw I don’t know, is that your name?
I don't like Revelations.
He-Man wasn’t even that absent from the show. He’s in every episode in some form. And if you watch the 2nd trailer you’ll notice that Teela is more prominent.
Am I the only MOTU fan who actually liked this? Where were the fans when Dreamworks botched She-Ra?
