세심(洗心):마음을 씻다 [SeSim : Washing the Heart]
오늘을 살아가는 우리들의 불안, 아픔을 따뜻하게 닦아내는 시간을 표현하고자 한 곡으로 진도씻김굿 ’혼맞이’를 모티브로 작곡했다. 모두가 지고 있는 어려움을 씻어 내고 그 자리에 평안이 깃들길 축원한다.
징소리를 뒤집어 새로운 파동으로 표현하고 장구, 북, 정주, 바라 등 여러 국악 타악기의 파동을 엮고 켜켜이 쌓아 파동을 증폭 시켰다. 이에 선율 악기인 대금이 유려함과 날카로움을 더한다.
This piece was composed with the motif of the "Honmaji" ritual from Jindo's Ssitgim-gut, aiming to express a time to gently cleanse the anxieties and pains of those living in the present. It is a prayer for peace to take the place of the burdens we all carry. The jing (gong) sound is reversed to represent new waves, while the waves of various traditional Korean percussion instruments such as janggu, buk, jeongju, and bara are layered and amplified. The melodic instrument daegeum adds both grace and sharpness to the composition.
대금의 한 호흡 소리에 한여름 등줄기가 찌릿해집니다. 익숙해야 할 한국의 소리가 오히려 낯설고 아름다워 신묘합니다. 고요한 K.A.M.A의 목소리는 시나위를 지나 천천히 우리를 환희로 이끕니다.
The sound of the daegeum's breath sends a shiver down my spine in the height of summer. The familiar sound of Korean music feels surprisingly new, beautiful, and mysterious. The tranquil voice of K.A.M.A. slowly leads us to bliss as it moves through the sinawi.
관객들이 한마음이 되어 얼씨구 좋구나를 외치고, 어디선가 나타난 북이며 오방색 천이 사람들의 손에 들려 하늘을 날기 시작합니다. 내 안에 있은 줄도 몰랐던 신명이 살아납니다.
The audience, united as one, shouts, "Eolssigu!" and out of nowhere, drums and colorful obangsaek cloths appear in people's hands, soaring into the sky. A spirit within me, one I didn't know existed, awakens.
김반장의 몰아치는 타악 연주와 다휘의 춤사위 속에 우리는 내 안에 신령함 그 자체가 됩니다.
Amidst the intense percussion of Kim Ban-jang and the graceful dance of Dahwi, we become one with the divine within us.
트랜스가 피어나는 순간. 내 안에 있는 이너시티를 통해 우주와의 연결이 일어납니다.
The moment of trance blooms. Through the inner city within me, a connection with the universe occurs.
수천 번의 떨림 속에서 켜켜이 쌓아온 껍데기를 녹여버리고, 꺼내어본 적 없는 나만의 목소리를 노래로 터져나옵니다.
As thousands of vibrations melt away the layers of shells I've built up, a voice unique to me, one I've never expressed before, bursts out in song.
온전하다는 것은 이렇게 시원하고 강렬한 경험이었던가요. 한번 찾아온 환희는 쉽게 꺼지지 않았습니다.
Is this what it means to be whole? Such a refreshing and powerful experience. Once found, the bliss did not easily fade away.
