Basically if i have a southern truck and go up north as i plan to do eventually in my future Super Duty, i definitely need to protect it with an under coating repeatedly.
I like what you did with the drain holes I was going to suggest that but you already did it. I love the video the only thing I’m not sure I agree with your statement about the frames I can tell you that in New York with the roads are you pretty much got 20 years if you’re lucky for a plow truck. The crossmembers usually start first the ones that hold the fuel tank up the last one on top of the spare tire. Then you have to watch right behind the cab especially on the fuel tank side . Being an inspector I carefully check these areas before I pass a vehicle or one of our trucks in our fleet. Usually that’s what pushed him out of service is the frame not the rust on the body yes the rocker panels have rust on them by then but the frame goes first.
Filling up the gap may not be a good idea. The manifolds produce the most heat in the engine bay. Blocking the airflow in the wheel well to the manifolds will really make the engine bay hot.
It’s called electrolysis. Corrosion that forms whenever two dissimilar metals come in contact with one another. It appears as though the exhaust manifolds are the the sacrificial anode for managing this problem. I think Ford has a serious problem on their hands and this video of your exhaust manifolds is all the proof I need. I just took Ford off my list of new truck to buy because of this video. Thanks for making this video. It looks like GM will retain my business.
Great video, do you not spray surface shield on your trucks because you don't keep them long enough to care? I know the Ford boss man is a big fan of it and so am I. Sorry I didn't wash your whole video before I made a comment on the fluid film LOL
It would drive me crazy seeing my rig getting eaten up by salt. I live in a very dry climate in Central Oregon and I rarely drive in conditions where chemicals have been used on the road. Luckily I’m retired and choose when I take the truck out. If I do drive in it I pressure wash it and blow the water out.

Good video. I'm not ready for salt or winter. Might try to get south this year.
I love it.

Good point!
Maybe is better use something similar to air grill, like Storm Resistant Louver, air can flow but water no.

Don’t use pressure washer to clean your undercarriage it will remove the factory coating use garden hose just house pressure.
These aren’t gmcs🤦♂️

PNW has an awesome VW car scene, all kinds of time capsules and nice clean cars there.
Always a little baffling with the amount of rain there.
Good stuff.. glad I live down south....
maybe ford left those wheel wells open for air cooling?

Aluminum oxide is just another name for rust.
