This brings back memories. I was in Middle school in Albuquerque, 1979, when this was performed live on the radio for five days and nights. I went down to Winrock Mall to see the instrument.

Great music, playing poverty but so deep, so full of feelings and melancholia...

He died? Oh no, I didnt know. One of thee best experimental composers/inventors/sound artists ever. I met him in the 90s, at Wesleyan.

This music is’nt absolutely sumptuous. Poverty of melodic discourse, absent harmonies, orchestration without renewal in its use of sound timbres, in short a painful architecture without flashes, nor apparent ambition

The things you list as criticisms are the same things that I'd list as praises.

Philippe Cirse Change your perspective for every song you hear. Each has very different themes and ideas behind them.
I'd even say noise is music. I prefer to define music as sound moving from one place the another.
I even enjoy when my washing machine makes a nice beat.

Picking just the right notes in the right sequence is the very hard job of composing. If you are not feeling up to that task, then you do stuff like this. It is all very experimental and avant garde. It is also very annoying.
