Been into kickboxing for many years(Urquidez,Roufus,Alexio)yet never saw a Hoost fight when he actually had hair😂. Dude is a true fighting Legend. Thanks.
I'm starting to watch the videos on this channel now... and I'm discovering many faces that I see in Martial Arts movies from the 80's and 90's, even among the spectators and fighters' corners!😅
Little could these announcers imagine where Hoost would get as a supreme & unique K1 champion winning 99 fights - Four-time K-1 World Champion, Hoost, considered to be one of the greatest kickboxers of all time.
He has had such an interesting career. All of the accolades.... and the Sapp fights. Kickboxing is unique in the fact that pretty much every major star ahs had some losses that surprise you.
Someone here don't know much. I boxed in Boston and New York for 10 years I'm 76 so that was a long time ago. Im not kickboxer but was paid ofter as a middle weight to get kickboxers ready for punching I have been in sparring with most in this area in the USA and Canada. I will say this I got along well with all and I also say Sean and it was not close was the best as far as boxing over the rest He was the fasted and hit without a doubt with the most power. I remember the fight he had with Wilson I have sparred with both many times and I thought, Jean would knock him out easy. Personally I thought that fight was more like an exibition or a complete joke. I was very upset that these 2 of the best put on a lousy show. But to say Jean could not win in boxing in canada is a joke. In fact I often tried to get him to switch to straight boxing.
Naw it's not. Silva peaked late too in MMA. The only thing that bothers me with Hoost is how the hell did Bob Sapp of all people.beatbhom three times? Three times!
Sapp would have beaten a lot of people if he went all out the way he did with Hoost. He was a massive person. He started giving up in fights once he realized it wasn't worth getting injured for $60k a fight. He could make just as much money losing fights as trying to win and avoid injuries.

@@freshcoat9311 Despite what you say it's true. Hoost was a murderous low kicker and he didn't have one of his best weapons here. Yes he agreed to the rules but it doesn't change the fact that he was handicapped.
The result would have been the same, Hoost was young and Theriault was a monster, those leg kicks would have opened Hoost up to a series of blows and the chances of being knocked out would rocket!
That's because they fighting under American Kickboxing rules where you're only allowed to punch and kick above the waist. Unlike Dutch Kickboxing where you have more tools to your advantage like using the clinch, knees and leg kicks.
I know J-Y T personally, but I must say today that if he was boxing instead of kickboxing, he would not win even a county-level of boxing. It is absolutely horrible to watch his boxing. He uses only jab or right cross separately. No punching sequence and no power. Even daily sparring for myself was much tougher than what I see here as a fight. Totally disappointing.
I do think Theriault had lots of power, you don't get over 60 KO's without it. His boxing is decent and his style proved very efective for him. Not everyone is a Sugar Ray Leonard with loads of combinations.

The commentators are idiots.
Bob thunder Thurman said basically same thing. There both world 🌎 champions. Jean is awesome martial arts 🥋 instructors learn from him.
But it's not a brutal style meant to really hurt the opponent, like in Muay-Thai for instance.
Wow, these are awesome! Thank you so much for sharing these.
Excellent upload thank you
Theriault a natural middle weight, we see him here at light heavy weight. Fought only the best and won!.

Great quality upload of a great fight! Thanks for posting. Love your page!!

I miss those days of gentlemanliness and good sportsmanship in the fighting sports.
Right! Shake hands, smile, bow & then put the other guy in the hospital with a broken jaw - sportsmanship
@@TAROTAI I don't think you've ever played sports, have you. Or participated in martial arts.

1:05 I'm so glad to see Hoost's young face.
Spoko walka 🥊🥊🥊🥊😊

How would Jean have done against guys like Mustafa Hamsho, Vito Antuafermo, or Bobby Cycz?
A real class act Mr. Theriault!!
Savršeni borci,danas nema ovakvih boraca..🙏🍀
What rare footage! 1986 was a long time ago considering one of these guys was still active until a few years ago.
Very cool! Hoost is so skinny here.
I mean compared to his later K1 career. Great to see these two legends fight.
Earnesto was not taking roids, just yet

Like Overeem his testosterone kicked in after 25
What amazing era!!
Le centre Paul-Sauve Bernard Geoffrion comme commentateur toute une nostalgie. 97-93 Theriault selon moi.
Boom Boom & Jean Yves, et Maurice "the Rocket" Richard, Yvan Cournoyer - poutine de tabarnac!
"When I win it will open many opportunities for me". Not this time Ernesto :D
The commentators had no idea what Hoost would become.
DAMN hoost is young here
Hoost must have had some good supplements to get up to the heavyweight division. 💪
I just saw vito Rizzuto in the crowd lol..
Am I the only one that thinks that Ernesto peaked late in his career? That’s rare, if so.

Yeah it was odd that Hoost seemed to have Cro Cop's number but Cro Cop was the one who smashed Sapp & basically made him switch sports to diving.

Ernesto hoost était petit avant
hoost was still unexperienced
Nothin to do with JYT’s perfect record?
if ernesto had been allowed to use low kicks there would be no competition
Oh poor you, this fight broke your heart :D

low kicks? those are NOT the rules - you may as well include eye gouging, you uninformed potato-head!

Dutch K-B, or mostly Muay-Thai...Elbows, knees, clinch...That's what I call an art truly made to do damage...
