The game is almost too beautiful to behold. I'm concerned that, once I enter the breathtakingly gorgeous lands within "Tales of Arise," I might not want to leave them. Eh, whatever, I was never reality's biggest fan anyway.
Between this and NGS, I definitely have enough virtual space to get lost in for the rest of the year. (And after that, Elden Ring comes out. XD)
The game looks incredible!
@GreenTea : If there's one thing that definitely sets it apart from recent Tales games, it's that it has a very strong "tangible" element to it. The conflict is very present in the world around them and the characters seem to interact with the world a lot regarding this, rather than being more on their own and wondering about the meaning and purpose of it all, which I felt some games got caught up in lately.
She’s pretty much a crusader, going to play as her for sure!

Doesn't she look a lot like Katalina from Granblue fantasy?
I dunno if anyone else feels this way, but the designs and setting of Arise have a "feel" that really reminds me of classic Tales games in a way I can't quite describe

Dohalim may possibly be my favorite in this game. He looks amazing! Also his skin tone and hair color remind me of Hapi from FE Three Houses and I love my Ashen Wolves.
Tales of the Abyss and Graces didn’t end in an “ia”. But it’s interesting that most of them are that way. I guess I didn’t notice this trend.
There are lots that don't end in "ia" lol. Abyss, Graces, Hearts, Innocence, Destiny, Rebirth, etc
Arise is just the first one *in quite a while* that doesn't end in "ia". We haven't had a non-ia mainline Tales since Graces which was over 10 years ago now.
You show me a woman in plate armor, with a mace and shield, and defensive and support abilities, and I'm gonna simp! 😆

so excited for this game the combat looks great with that tales charm and the new party members look interesting this might be the first tales game where I try every character

Yeah, they've just chosen to go with "Hammer" for her weapon archetype which is probably more accurately "One-Handed Bludgeoning Weapon". Just like Dohalim's weapon archetype is "Rod" but it could just as easily be "Staff" (and there'll probably be at least 1 weapon he can use that could pass for a Spear or even Naginata).

I am so freaking excited the new characters look awesome and the fighting looks so beautiful!
I've never played a Tales game before but I'm excited for this one. Can't wait!!!

You know, at this point I don't find it super-easy to pick out a dissenting party member, as nearly all of them have shifted loyalties just by joining the group. Shionne was Renan nobility, Law was an agent for the police, Dohalim doesn't agree with Renan politics and Kisara seems to have very firmly changed her view upon joining the party here.
All that's left is Alphen with his unknown memory. (Hopefully handled in a unique way if they do that since it's been done a good number of times.) Or.... Rinwell. She probably has the most reason to do something like that out of any of them, shockingly enough...

The girl in armor with the sheild and mace looks like Tales with Dark Souls armor, I definitely want her in my party!
I kinda want one more party member
Yeah, I'd love at least one surprise member. It's been a while since they haven't just shown us all the party members in advance, and I like not knowing all of them.

Action sequence looks a lot like pre-rework Granblue Fatansy Relink. Very promising! However storywise I do worry about how is this game going to tackle topics like invasion and slavery. In my experience japanese game/anime writers don't have a good track record on this!
And there is no way there are only six characters in the game a party members there's got to be eight party members because there is 4 slots mean party members and there are four slots 4 indicating there's got to be a total of 8 party members when you consider four slots for main characters and for slots for support characters indicating there's no way the game has only 6 party members when you consider how many slots are four main characters and how many slots there are for support characters

I think "Hammer" is basically standing in for "One-Handed Bludgeoning Weapon" in this case. There'll almost certainly be a variety of weapons that could be called maces or hammers or flails, etc
This is the first time I am not a fan of the team. Dont know what it is, maybe because they look a bit CPU like, not so fancy and special besides the 2 main?
The knight Karisa most def doesn't look like an NPC. Granted this is probably cause the characters look less anime than previous games so I can kinda see why you say this. There's been plenty of games I didn't care for the overall team looks like legendia, graces and eternia(I really love eternia) this seems like my fave group outside Law and Rinwell who do look kinda NPC like.

It’s a mace not a hammer
You could also say it's a Cudgel, or a Club, or a Bludgeon, or a Maul, or indeed a Hammer - they are all similar weapons but as per the press release from Bandai Namco: "She uses her hammer and shield to deal strong damages in close combat".
"Hammer" is the name of her weapon archetype which is probably more accurately a range of "One-Handed Bludgeoning Weapons"
She'd better not be flat chested without her armor or so help us...
Hopefully by now you can see she's not flat chested, but I wouldn't have minded if she was.

Only thing that irked me was the villain's likeness to Wingul. New playable characters look great!

So this is all the playable characters? Six characters is number that Tales of games generally land on.
According to Bandai Namco this is the full cast of playable characters but they revealed a few weeks ago that guest characters are a thing (they join you in battle), and it doesn't rule out a surprise like a short-term character or 1 that replaces 1 of these 6 which has been known to happen in the Tales series.
Well I didn't know I wanted to main a Mace wielding, giant shield toting babe until right now.
