    That’s the most in depth explanation I’ve seen, thank you. I’m a really inexperienced barber but I purchased an Octane while in school and sometimes I’ll do an entire cut with them. It is a very bulky clipper.

    You gotta get yourself some heiniger clippers Orion (tractor) and Sirrius (2 speed) I'm sure you will love them. They are massively expensive, however they cut hair like a hot knife through butter. I love your work, I've been struggling to get my head around the numbers, Thanks for sorting it for me.

    I love detachables. I use the Wahl mentor as my main clipper and i finish cuts very quickly with it. Best detachable clipper imo even tho its corded. But the cords 9ft long so that helps. Very quiet, very lightweight, 2 speeds and comes in black lol comes with 4 blades 000 to 1a. Locking mechanism for the blades and cost only $220 for all that. So underrated

    How do you incorporate your phat master? I have it on my all metal senior with a stretch bracket. You were right learning and memorizing "mm" helps know the sections within my fades.

    I put the cutter blades that come on the smaller blades ( 00000-000) on my 0A- the 3 1/2 and fading with that change makes the fade comes out blurry. I don’t even use the lever clippers anymore. It makes them cut like thinning shears. Fine tooth thinning shears

    I wanted to stay with two strong adjustables,. But with my current clientele Its just not as efficient..... Lots of #2 and #3 cuts and heavy bulky hair.

    Everyones saying 5 zero blade. I now get it. I didn't see one before. In electric land they would say 5 aught
    5 OT but i think that ship has sailed. I'm not sure how far down this rabbit hole i want to go. But i think i do want to give it a go. My wife loves a good hair cut. My hair and beard work today is grade 0 (pre-k). Standard home cheap clipper doesn't cut it much. I'm a straight razor user and will do some slight shaping or just bald. Thanks for the help and clarification.

    I got 1 more too lol. Does anyone remember that texture detachable blade they used to make? Can’t remember if it was Andis or oster. It was named the 58-T or something. It was pretty much a 1.5 but every other tooth was about 1/2 the length of the other teeth. I don’t know what it was designed for and I never owned one but I was always told that It was great for cutting waves. Was told it wouldn’t gap waves in low spots or spots where some of the hair pattern didn’t lay right or was a different growth pattern or texture.

    Great vid. Since there is already an advantage with detachable blades over guards then can you explain the benefits you get by changing the ceramic cutting blade to a 22 tooth or 20 tooth or whatever andis offers? I think the default is the coarse cutter for andis ceramic blades.

    • @thewoodshedbarber
      @thewoodshedbarber  Рік тому +1

      The coarse cutter is designed for the type of blade that it fits which is 0A and above. Where as the 000, 0000, 00000 is meant to receive the fine tooth cutter. The 22 or 28 toothed blade options I believe are intended for the master blade.

    • @thewoodshedbarber
      @thewoodshedbarber  8 місяців тому +1

      I’m a Andis ceramic edge guy. The ceramic blades run cooler and stay sharper ten times longer. Plus the Andis ultra edge and Oster blades have to be sent off to get sharpened. With the ceramic you just buy a new cutting blade and slide it in.

    Appreciate the insight here. I've always been interested in detachables but the price turns me off, obviously after you factor in all of the blades you need. • @thewoodshedbarber

      Its worth it in the long run. Id say get the clipper you like best (amazon has free returns) and just acquire blades slowly. Ive had my Pulse ZR since 2015 and my set of blades since 2012. They last a long time. Such a smooth cut and finish.

    Also I just wanted to see if someone can answer why nobody makes a 0 guard with the points on the teeth, like the original Andis 0 doubled magnetic guard (the OG magnetic guards). Even Andis doesn’t make that guard the same anymore. All 0 guards now have those stupid rounded off teeth. They just don’t lift the hair good enough. I don’t get it. Thankfully I still have mine. I will be lost the day it finally breaks.
    Side note…
    Does anyone still use the speedo guards anymore? Those were actually the first 0 guards. The teeth were really thin and worked so well with the masters but the teeth would break around 20 haircuts or so. lol!

    I doubt stylecraft, tpob, or babyliss would invest in a detachable blade machine, since its return on investment is low.
    Also when you cut short lengths going against the grain, you’ll most likely get most hairs in a pass or two.

    • @thewoodshedbarber
      @thewoodshedbarber  9 місяців тому

      Stylecraft and TPOB won’t, but I could highly see babyliss doing that.
      Detachable is just a more smooth and different finish of cut, I’m not dogging adjustables but there is a big reason they have the reputation they do for even finish work
