Zverev's backswing on both sides is overly loopy and takes too much time to implement until he actually strikes the ball. When seconds count against someone like Sinner, that type of backswing is a losing strategy.
First, achieving a grand slam final is a huge achievement. Congrats to both players. Saying that, Zverev needs to analyse his playing strategy. Today his game was very predictable. I'm not watching the video, just commenting on the silly title. What set the Big 3 apart was also if not above al the fact they were the greatest DEFENSIVE players in tennis history (which is commonly obvious for Djokovic and Nadal, but Federer was an insane defensive player too which was often overshadowed by his immense offensive game). And guess what, Sinner and Alcaraz are the best defensive players on the tour at the moment! Their defensive game is out of this world, they have the same ability the Big 3 had to turn a defensive rally into an offensive one with one shot, without needing to get into a neutral phase, which is a unique gift to have. Defense does win on the tour, it really does.
Sinner is the ultimate defensive player, a wet blanket who puts out the fire of others. He is really lacking in attacking plays - no serve and volley, 50/50 on whether his dropshot will even be made. His stretch return is his best shot. David Ferrar with a better body. Djokovic without offensive plays. Jim Courier with rhythm and range.
It is strange, no word was dropped about tie-break 4:4 and Sinner winning point due to net which was decisive to win the 2nd set . Good observation was about Zverev needs somebody to improve his game. Proper example is Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl....
Comparisons between different eras in sports are often misguided. The most competitive period in tennis history likely occurred when players like Lendl, Becker, McEnroe, Agassi, and Sampras were all active simultaneously. While the "big three"-Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic-achieved remarkable success, their dominance came during a time when there were fewer strong rivals. Additionally, these players continued their careers five to ten years longer than the previous generation, thanks to advancements in training, nutrition, and other factors. Therefore, it is simply not accurate to claim that Sinner is playing against weak competition.
Simpo played in the weakest era of men's tennis, he only effectively had Agassi for competition, come on, he lost to Leyton Hewit in the USO 2001 ! and he beat all time " greats " like Pioline (x2) and Chang for his slams, also he was 1TP: no FOs not even a final, The three kings had to play EACH other to win slams ! PLus Murray, Stan, Cilic, Delpo, Fernandez, Safin, Ferrer, Nalbandian, Thiem, Medvedev, Zverev, Alco and Sinner ! This era is weaker than the the 3K era no doubt.
Why are the top male players so much more mature than the top women players? Their behaviour is atrocious. The guys are respectful and no childish behaviour.
Sinner wasn't playing at his highest level and far away from unbeatable however Zverev choked again as he always does in Grand Slam Finals. He made far too many unforced errors and his backhand was a complete letdown. He played the worst level in the final except his serve and It also seemed that he lacked confidence. After he lost the tiebreak with 2 unfortunate consecutive points against him, one netroller for Sinner and one shot from Sinner that barely touched the line it went all downhill and Sinner gained more confidence. Unless Zverev gets a new trainer or mental coach he will never win a Grand Slam. I think he could greatly benefit from working with Boris Becker, especially in the mental department and to improve his volleys!
Totally agree with Courier about Zverev's game....he lacks variety in his toolbox and lacks the confidence in his game and power when he gets into these key matches. He'd rather wait for his opponent to make an error in a baseline rally than consistently on every play but especially in those pressure points, be aggressive. And he's likely not aggressive in those pressure points because as Courier said, he does NOT have the shot selection to do so. At his age and the stage he is in his career thus far, its difficult to make changes but if he wants to actually win...Zverev must bring variety to his game or else the Sinners and Alcarazs' of the world who have developed variety will pick him off.
Sinner before 2024 is not the same Sinner since 2024. So H2Hs are not very relevant anymore, as long as Zverev does not improve his level on hard courts.
h2h doesn’t mean a thing in a pressure match especially if you can’t step up to the plate and Zverev has a lot of wins over young teenage sincaraz Sinner is a different player now and the skill difference is wider
@@nickyb12345didn’t say h2h means he will win just saying he beat the guys before the commentators making it seem like Zverev has no chance to beat Carlos and sinner this is likely due to recency bias.
Zverev is a great tennis player but just fell short to the magnificent Sinner. I feel for Zverev because hes playing his best and its another final he has lost. Will he ever get another chance? Its hard as hes competing against Sinner and Akcaraz who sre slightly better than him. Maybe one day for Zverev because he does deserve winning a Major. Jim i heard your comments there is a big difference between respect and reality in sports No one will deny novak achievements that is not the point the point is in 2024 does he has enough in tank to cross Alcaraz, Zverev, Sinner in a row in a Grand Slam ? as he is seed n 6 The answer is clearly no He is old. Here the 12 to 15 years difference plays a huge role physicality Remember in quarter finals Novak said if i lost the second set i would have probably abandon that game... He cant face the physicality against those 2 monsters... How do you recover after having these games in a row ? Others players are learning also remember he plays 5 sets against Musetti in Paris. In january 2024 i wrote Novak will end up the year with ZERO grand slam This year will be the case also And this year will question him about retiring Because it wont be easy to endure a loosing streak two years in a row Novak run in Grand slam is over
In his previous two grand slam finals, Sasha must have felt that he was so close and yet couldn't push himself over. While this is hard, at least it gave him some things to work on. I think today will be more difficult to face since the gap between him and the highest level of tennis (Sinner today, but also Alcaraz and Djokovic) was rather apparent. How does he close _that_ gap? Sasha's own analysis was that while he had a better serve than Jannik (in general), Jannik was better in the remaining 4-5 key areas of the game. That's a very tall mountain to climb.
He did not have a better serve, he was broken many times and Sinner was not broken, not even once, not enough 1st serves from Sash, too many weak 2nd serves which Sinner put away all too often.
Zverev is in a space no different to the place where Maddie Keys was a few years ago .... She was depressed because of not living up to early expectations for many years and Zverev is in that very same boat right now.... too much negativity boiling inside of him... He needs therapy ... just like Keys and his team should speak to her and take her advice on this...
Jim courier still says that Novak can have his say. Jim doesn't understand that Novak can't win anything due to his age and because the game has changed. Sinner would have bullied him faster than he did against Zverev. Sinner would have beaten him even in his best years. Sinner is monstrous and I believe that for this reason they want to stop him with a non-existent doping affair, pushing champions like Novak and many others to punish him unjustly. On this we fans are concerned we will oppose with all our might. Novak and others are harmful to tennis, a truly disgusting evil that must end. Sinner's hug to Zverev to console him is what we want to see, just rivalry on the court.
If you noticed, Zverev was playing more aggressive and close to the baseline in the first set, and after losing the set he moved back, a strategy that brought him to the tiebreaker in the second set. Playing too close to the baseline with Sinner is not easy, it leads to many unforced errors.
The psychology of Zverev is a red flag to me here. They broke it down well here. He's really discouraged. I've been there as a State winner here in the US and Juniors champ. It hurts and you have something to work on its par as mount. He's really talented really good and has a lot of advantages such as height for example
I really don't think there is anything defensive to Zverev's game which is out of the average/standard. You really can't go more offensive than Zverev actually going for lines in the 1st set. He was trading fairly with a Jannik that barely makes a mistake ever. Absolutely commendable performance from Zverev and he may need to change something to beat Sinner but what he has right now is more than enough to beat everyone else and that is pretty offensive in my opinion.
What an excellent analysis! Zverev was - again - so defensive and predictable, I just don't get it. But all credits to Yannik!!! And he's such a great human being...
Zverev was too far back! Jannik is already so good moving to meet the ball and take shots on the rise, being that far back only puts Zverev on the immediate defensive against Jannik prowling the baseline
Sinner is a slightly better player right now but the thing is ,Zverev isnt playing to the best of his abilities. He is way too defensive for a player with such a big weapons. He just cannot leave that much on the racquet of his opponent. Thats a huge problem. Until he changes that ,he won't win a slam. Just remember when Cilic or Wawrinka won slams, how they won it. They didnt depend much on their opponent.
Zverev took a hard tennis lesson OK. In my opinion he had too exaggerated a negative reaction. My friend if you want to become number one you must first stabilize your emotions... physical strength is worth 50%
@amireallythatgrumpy6508 no its not, Zverevs entire game is around his serve, he dominates through his service game attack. How anyone doesn't understand that it beyond me
@@j.j.1517 Because it is clearly not true - at least not against a player like Sinner who is good enough to stop him from being dominant in any part of his game whatsoever. Did you even watch the final last night? General comments about Zverev's game are irrelevant because Sinner's game made them so. And then he responded by becoming too defensive and not attacking at all. Even blind people saw that Zverev was a deer in the headlights.

Not too sure who Zereve beat in his other matches to reach this final , but not surprised he has come up short Not just him , but two thirds of the other top ten players just seem overrated and have carbon cop one trick pony games - they lack variety and instincts
They always say the big 4 referring to Djokovic, Federer, Nadal & Murray. But for me it was only ever the big 3 because Murray only won 3 grand slams, a very good player but not in the same league as the other 3.
Murray could have won more but tragically injuries derailed his career just when he got to number 1. Murray is about the same age as Djokovic and the latter won half of his GS haul from that very time when Murray was out.

Because most women grow up physically, but remain a child mentally.
It’s true, gotta be more risky and take those shots
Welfare check for Sascha's gf tonight, please!
Zverev has positive h2h vs Sinner and Carlos he just need to play his best tennis on the day he can do this!
@@2011Gitane all I’m saying is he has a chance to win he has experienced a victory over the guys so mentally so he can do it.
@@nickyb12345didn’t say h2h means he will win just saying he beat the guys before the commentators making it seem like Zverev has no chance to beat Carlos and sinner this is likely due to recency bias.
@theantt21 of course, he had a chance. He's no 2!
Great analysis- still stand by Jannik being a robot. 🤖
Keep on working hard and surely your day will come. Keep on believing
is it just me or jim sounds really different
how different I think he's ready to be a coach. Zverez should get him on board and exploit the tactic and different changes that Jim can bring to the team to the table and get rid off the predictability like he said down the line instead of going cross court all the time with the approach shots. Jim will be a good coach for Zverez.
He kind of sounds like he's on helium
Lost weight in the vocal cords... 😮
King Sinner
Jim
i heard your comments
there is a big difference between respect and reality in sports
No one will deny novak achievements
that is not the point
the point is in 2024 does he has enough in tank to cross Alcaraz, Zverev, Sinner in a row in a Grand Slam ? as he is seed n 6
The answer is clearly no
He is old. Here the 12 to 15 years difference plays a huge role
physicality
Remember in quarter finals Novak said
if i lost the second set i would have probably abandon that game...
He cant face the physicality against those 2 monsters...
How do you recover after having these games in a row ?
Others players are learning also remember he plays 5 sets against Musetti in Paris.
In january 2024 i wrote Novak will end up the year with ZERO grand slam
This year will be the case also
And this year will question him about retiring
Because it wont be easy to endure a loosing streak two years in a row
Novak run in Grand slam is over
Sinner’s level did not drop even when he was losing a couple of points on his serve. It’s commendable! 😅
Zverev's best shot will be at Rolan Garros. Other than that i dont see him winning a GS. Better it be 2025, Fonseca is coming to form a new big3.
Sasha is nearly 28, he doesn't have too much time to improve before he starts to slow down.
Zverev still playing 8-10 feet behind the baseline
Maybe much more sometimes
If you noticed, Zverev was playing more aggressive and close to the baseline in the first set, and after losing the set he moved back, a strategy that brought him to the tiebreaker in the second set. Playing too close to the baseline with Sinner is not easy, it leads to many unforced errors.
Zvere's approach shots were too far inside the line. No pressure for Sinner to hit massive hits off both sides.
maybe take another support in the team for Z?
The psychology of Zverev is a red flag to me here. They broke it down well here. He's really discouraged. I've been there as a State winner here in the US and Juniors champ. It hurts and you have something to work on its par as mount. He's really talented really good and has a lot of advantages such as height for example
Good job becoming a State winner! Did you ever try to be Pro?
I really don't think there is anything defensive to Zverev's game which is out of the average/standard. You really can't go more offensive than Zverev actually going for lines in the 1st set. He was trading fairly with a Jannik that barely makes a mistake ever. Absolutely commendable performance from Zverev and he may need to change something to beat Sinner but what he has right now is more than enough to beat everyone else and that is pretty offensive in my opinion.
As said Zverev needs to be less predictable on his ground strokes and to finish the point at the net
The way Sinner is playing in hard courts...I think even Novak will find it difficult to beat him in AO or US Open....
Lieutenant Columbo suspects a collusion between wada and previous Jannik team🤔
..were they planning to make the new emergent champion to fail??
Sinner is a slightly better player right now but the thing is ,Zverev isnt playing to the best of his abilities.
He is way too defensive for a player with such a big weapons.
He just cannot leave that much on the racquet of his opponent.
Thats a huge problem.
Until he changes that ,he won't win a slam.
Just remember when Cilic or Wawrinka won slams, how they won it.
They didnt depend much on their opponent.
As heartfelt and honest as it was, you shouldn't be consoled by a guy 4 years younger with 3 GS more under his belt.
Zverev took a hard tennis lesson OK. In my opinion he had too exaggerated a negative reaction. My friend if you want to become number one you must first stabilize your emotions... physical strength is worth 50%
Weird cause Sinners defense was the standout thing about this match, didn't give Zverev those easy points he'd get with his serve.
Zverev's game was ONLY defense though. Sinner's defense was good but he also went on the attack when he could - something Zverev did not do.
@ So Sinner's defense is stopping Zverev's offense got it we're back on the same page glad it took you 3 posts to get it.
@@j.j.1517 Are you American? Because you're certainly as dumb as one! Anyone paying attention will tell you I was there all along and you have the reading comprehension skills of a flea.
Todd - re. those 'land acknowledgments' you keep announcing: is the Aussie Open going to give back this property to those tribes you keep mentioning? Or buy it from them by paying them now? Or is the mentioning of it enough?
Not too sure who Zereve beat in his other matches to reach this final , but not surprised he has come up short
Not just him , but two thirds of the other top ten players just seem overrated and have carbon cop one trick pony games - they lack variety and instincts
Zverev must RECOGNIZE when an opponent will hit a defensive/weak shot. Then move in. He got passed too often on ill advised approaches.
If he needs inspiration and a checklist of what-to-do's and howto's .. he can just watch his own brother :

already missing rafa...
Aw. Rafa Nadal. Best Young Player Ever.
Sascha had a chance in the second set and elevated his game, but couldn't sustain level of intensiy.. Sinner can play at that level for extended periods. Congrats Yannik, despite you making mens tennis a tad boring. Well done!
Zverev isn't winning a slam standing 5 feet behind the baseline.
5 feet would actually give hima a chance..lol.. he was way over 5 feet at most times wven after serving.. crazy
Very soon teenagers like Mensik, Fonseca and Tien will climb to the level of Sinner and Alcaraz.
Shelton is looking good too.
Zverev seems to have confidence issue
