Thank alot Dr. Asaad and really appreciate your time and effort for helping all the medical graduates. Please keep up your great work. We will always support you.
How do you go about finding research opprtunities in the US while doing your medical school degree outside the Unites states? how competitive are the research opportunities for IMG?
Thank you for the interview, it's given me some useful information. Please for someone like me coming from Africa, what's my chance of getting any surgery specialty?
Hey Malke! Dr. Panos said he stared preparing for the step 1 exam in 2nd year and took it in 4th year, thats sort of the time frame I have for the exam, does Dr. Panos mind sharing his score? Awesome video btw!
Thanks alot Dr.Malke and Dr.Panos. Really an amazing benefit we're getting from this hard work. Thanks again Dr.Malke❤ I had just one question. AS an IMG student from Syria can the ranking of my university afffect on my selection for the resarch positon or resdiency? Because as I observed from Dr.Panos saying that" it really matters from which school you came"? And thanks agian❤❤
Salam It does not affect you at all where you studied from in MOST CASES. Especially in more non competitive specialties. Just focus on your medschool grades, your usmle scores and your research! Work on your CV and apply knowing your limitiations. Watch as many UA-cam videos regarding these topics as possible
I am 25 year old & want to start step 1, its 1.5 year from my medical graduation , is it wise to start ? Because i want to get in Neurosurgical residency.
Omgggggggggggg As an IMG??? This really gives me hope as a NON US IMG! Im targeting Gen surgery & then deciding to do fellowship in NS. Is it possible??? 😭
I don't think you can do Neurosurgery as a fellowship but some do prelim surgery and then apply to Neurosurgery. The different paths are discussed in the next episode. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it.
@@MalkeAsaad I am working as spine surgeon in India after orthopedic surgery residency. Already did USMLE and PGY gen surgery at Chicago in year 2010. How competitive it is to try for neurological surgery at this stage.
@@MalkeAsaad Will 3.36 GPA kill my chances of getting to a competetive psychiatry program ? Its not like I can take my exams in medical school back again. How important is IMG GPA ?
is it possible to complete PGY-1 and PGY-2 both along, because before starting medschool, many people has also done neuroscience and neurology diplomas, which is also a part of PGY-1 year, so, is it possible?
