Dan Erlewine just moved into a new shop! In this video he finishes work on the Mike Bloomfield Telecaster, a guitar with a lot of history. We’ve been following this guitar for several videos; now Dan wraps it up with an assist from Erick Coleman.

These are some of the most strangely relaxing videos. It's like a PBS show from an alternate universe where rock still mattered and the promise of the 60s was never quite extinguished. Just a couple of guys very, very slowly restoring Mike Bloomfield's guitar. (Powerful metaphor in its own right for never giving up on the music, I think.) I just woke up and my iPad was on the floor, my headphones were wrapped around my face. I had fallen asleep. I picked up the iPad and unlocked it: "Oh. Right."
Yes I agree what you see is what you get unlike PBS's historical rewrites for political correctness sad to say.
As relaxing as Bob Ross
NutritionalZero I was just thinking it’s like This Old House but with guitars. There are a lot of channels on youtube all about restoration and such. They are very relaxing as you said. Something about competent people fixing things and solving problems is something the world needs more of.
He ripped me off, he is not a nice person
@@DaigoParry he is a crook, please send my guitar back already moron had it for over a year
I'd sweep the floors of Dan's shop just to hang around with him!
I'll bring the donuts
I'll take out the trash!
I will hand the tools to him
Ill clean everything not in the floor
Who would kiss his butt?
Dan is a national treasure!
+tMattLZ
So is Eric , LOL
Fano More He's not old enough yet to be one.
I disagree but I do respect your opinion
Ex-instrument repairman here. See how much quality work is being put into this job and how much experience these two guys have...now imagine how much they're being paid to do it. Yeah now you see why quality repairmen are hard to find - you'll need another income to make ends meet nowadays.
If it weren't for Dan Erlewine's videos on UA-cam, I'd have never had the courage to learn how to do my own fretwork. And my story is not unique. Thanks, Dan!
You are right! I live in the UK, been doing guitar work for years, read everything written by Dan! Amazing guy!!!
I've watched all these Bloomfield tele videos, just because I'm in awe that it was his tele. It's not right that he ain't still with us. Some people are destined to never get old and he was one of them. A tortured soul who gave the world so much and took so little in return. I hope wherever he is, he's at peace. I'm in my 20's, and this man still inspires generations and always will.
Tate Thompson, Jesse Edwin Davis was another one who ended up as a tragedy, similar to Mike Bloomfield. And then there's Danny Gatton, and Roy Buchanan as well. Telecaster players all....
Respect to Mike Bloomfield...Thanks for the great video RC
9:36 I CAN BREATHE FOR THE FIRST TIME
I love the Yakety Sax montage, too.
Mr. Erlewine palying us out with Got My Mojo Workin on Mike's guitar put a huge smile on my face.
This guy's grandkids are blessed
Oh the big cup of tea is my favorite part! Pops can really jam, too!
I suffer from depression and anxiety...Dan is a Lifesaver!
Love his Vids!
What I like the most about this video is the tools and knowledge. Dan’s shop is my dream come true
I can't stop binge watching these videos. They are done really well and show a true Craftsman at work.
I think Dan likes this guitar, considering its been in nearly every video for the past 4 months
I love it too. I want it. lol
Well he can literally say it’s the guitar that started his love of blues. To be able to work on a guitar like that and be able to have such an extensive look is an honor all these years later. You can still apply the information to your own work. He’s taking us on that journey with him.
Mike was a personal friend of Dan, he probably felt a sense of attachment to it too
There is no such thing as too many videos when it comes to a piece of history like this.
Giovani Capeletti - damn straight. Can't get enough of this magical Tele.
I like the way Dan plays that "I got My Mojo Workin'" lick there.
Dan and the entire StewMac team have taught me so much. The tools and techniques Dan has invented for repair work are excellent. Thank you, guys!
A pleasure to watch a true conservator at work.
My goodness this fella is something else boy, could watch you do this all day. And I’m a drummer, mainly.
I had forgotten for a second that I was watching a short(ish) Stew Mac video and that I wasn't watching a full how too video... When the guitar showed up at the end finished without getting to see the in between steps I was really disappointed, and then I remembered, "Oh yeah, this was free and WAY longer than a regular Stew Mac video". Then I was grateful for what I did get to see... Thanks for sharing Dan!
Dan has such a gentle touch in his playing- how sweet.
I love the attention to detail of these guys. Wish I'd chosen to be a luthier when I was younger!
The first time I watched this video, almost everything was lost on me. Watching all the Bloomfield videos plus some I can really appreciate how awesome this is. It's a privilege to watch, thank you.
All four videos in this series of refretting Mike Bloomfield's Tele are excellent. Dan shows the work and gives little history lesson along the way. From start to finish it was a joy to watch an learn from such an accomplished expert.
I love this channel. Its like This Old House for guitars. Id watch this on TV
God it's so soothing to watch someone competent do this kind of work!
I love your patience and attention to detail. That’s about a 5hr job just putting in the frets when you account for the glue drying
Unmissable!
I always look forward to Dan's adventures in the workshop. This is Old School craftsmanship on a world-class level
Always great to see real musicians learn how to fix theirs and others axes very well!
Can't possibly say enough about how much I enjoyed watching this!
Got my Mojo working! You are unbelievable!
I got my first book by Dan on how to repair and maintain electric guitars when I was 17.
Thanks for your continuing contribution Dan.
easily one of the most amusing and informative videos ever. one can really feel the reverence that Dan has for this historic guitar. Also the lengths he goes to in order to preserve the significance of the Bloomfield Tele
Go for it pops :)
I love watching Dan work. He's so generous.
I'm on my 2nd video. Firstly your Tele body repair, now this. I've been smiling right through. Looking forward to more of your uploads.
Thank you sir! ✌🏼️😊🇬🇧
My goodness this is one of the most fascinating youtube tutorials I have ever chanced upon. Beautiful careful accurate considered work. Who ever knew so much precision went in to an electric guitar lovely equipment, materials and technique knowledge and experience - it is a great watch. Those of us with no musical ability look on with great envy. How wonderful it must be to pick up a guitar play a recognised tune perfectly and entertain people - a great gift coupled with a lot of hours of work and practice. Here in UK some of my favourite players are Hank Marvin Chris Rea Jet Harris, John Barry, Duane Eddy and a whole host more . Superb films keep it going
Saw Bloomfield play in the San Jose State College Student Union. He played "Nobody Loves You When You're Down And Out."
He did not seem depressed. Month later I read in the paper he had killed himself. Nobody knew what he was going thru. So nobody could help..
Song still gives me chills.
Could watch you do this all day.
Brilliant.
Loved all the videos on the Bloomfield Tele , excellent work and what a piece of music history it is.
I just cant stop watching. My father has a woodshop and nothing has been used. I'm so glad I landed here.
I don’t play guitar, don’t own a guitar, but think your videos are just terrific, engaging, fascinating. Kudos to you for sharing your technical prowess and love for these instruments. Wonderful!
I find myself mesmerized with all of your videos. I dabble in guitar playing but watching these videos and trying to comprehend your genius work make me smile!
I love these guys! There's nothing better than watching master craftsmen plying their trade. Thanks for letting us watch.
How can anyone give Dan Erlewine a thumbs down? Silly. Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Most of us play guitar and don't know much about repair and building, so it's great stuff to learn from. Thanks, and double thanks!
That jam at the end makes me happy
You Sir made me run around looking for guitars to fix .I'm horrible guitarist but fixing them to play few chords is priceless
Watching these guys is like meditation for me
just amazing to see to what lengths of effort and detail a real master of the craft will go to preserve a unique instrument. Very inspiring...
i cant play an instrument nor would i have the patients to work on one, but i absolutely love to watch your videos. you are a true master at your craft.
My new favourite channel! When you put that first fret in - wow!
Thanks! 👍
Dan's videos are always great. I enjoy it when he plays at the end. I really like the playing at the end of this video as it has a mysterious Bass player playing on it along with the 2 guitars.
This whole series is just plain old badass.
It's so comforting to watch you guys work! And I learn a lot from your videos, too. Thank you!
Oh man that jam at the end was so good! Great stuff, thanks guys.
Wow, that was really awesome!
Such dedication!
Fantastic job Dan and Eric!
great series on the Bloomfield Telecaster! I loved every episode!
Great playing Dan
Not only informative about the work, but about Mike Bloomfield and very entertaining as well! Loved the time elapse with Eric playing while Dan finished the fretting. Hope my frets some of that love someday!!!
I love him! He's just so cool and collected!
I'll have to say this one and the telecaster body hole patch video are the two best so far.
Wow! I just found this video series and I'm captivated. Wonderful work by wonderful people. Thanks for sharing!
So relaxing but then I get excited by how insane the skill is with these guys!
Some of my favorite content on UA-cam!
One of the coolest Trade Secrets vids you've done. Thanks, I really enjoyed it.

Thank you for your videos, I’m getting in to Luthier Jobs on my own guitars , I’m 20 years contractor doing construction but this is another realm
Dan and his crew are a treasure of knowdledge when it comes to working on guitars and we respect all of you for sharing your expertise on guitar repair, thank you for sharing your video's that you put out

Great video. I greatly enjoy all of your vids. Thanks.
Hey! Those safety sandals go great with the Benny Hill theme and the speed up! As a 30 year tradesman it is a validation of the pains I take to watch these masters at work. LOVE this channel.
What a great video! Filled with terrific information and lots of humor. Thanks!
Dan, you are a national treasure. Because you’re sharing all of your great skills, we all can be better guitar techs.
You two are so cool, just love watching you work, so skilled and such experience. Thank you
Dan sir,you are without any doubt whatsoever! AMAZING! Thank you for sharing!
Nice looking floors in the new shop!! The attention to detail these guys take and their patience to perfection is honorable.
This is simply amazing, the level of care and dedication from Mr. Erlewine. What a damn cool bunch of tools, would love to have a shop like that!

This is one of my favorite videos on youtube. Dan and Erick are full of character.
I was there to ! It was a GOOD SHOW and your repairing that guitar wow.....
Bloomfield was a natural blues player, Dan you are lucky to have this in your most able hands ! I listen to Mike play Maggies farm at ' 65 newport as much as possible.Thx for sharing!!!!!!
iconic guitar! loved that tone in the butterfield band.
That was a masterclass!! With the coolest guitar tech on the planet, what a dude. !!
Great to hear you guys play. I'm a carpenter and my fascination with guitar construction is what got me started playing. These videos are a real treat.
i love this guy . sooo awesome and full of knowledge ! i bet he can build a guitar with closed eyes
You guys seem like quite the dynamic duo!! A pleasure to watch.
I'd love to see more of you guys in one video together.

I don't think those are certified safe shop footwear.
When you know what he knows, you can go bare-footen~~~~~~~& B way-cool.
Yup, way cool when you break your toes. Granted I've only spent a lot of time in a metal shop, I don't feel like a guitar body dropped on your big toe is gonna feel nice. A nice pair of steel-toed Wolverines made me stop wearing any other brand of shoe.
He wears steel toe boots for work on Norlin era instruments. And a back brace.
Amazing work amazing.
One of my favorite videos of yours. Keep it up!
Fantastic! Thanks Dan!
