+jenniferene Ahead of her time? My ass! She was just telling Americans how they should just as promiscuous, perverted, anti-religious, and "loose" as Europeans tend to be. Anyone like her who criticizes the norms of her own country is not open minded and forward in time but just as bigoted as anyone who hates other cultures.

    • @lizzyprasad1920
      @lizzyprasad1920 8 років тому +6

+jenniferene LMAO! But she's THE ONE who's the fucking hypocrite. Bitch tells Americans to shun violence and to adopt European norms of politics, sexuality, and culture. Yet makes a video "What it feels like to be a girl" where she goes around shooting people then killing herself at the end. She uses gun shot sounds at MDNA and shows violent images of people getting killed in front of young people at her concerts but had the nerve to say in this interview there's too much violence on TV. Not too mention her hypocritical statement "guns don't kill people, people kill people." Here she's saying that Americans are too prude and conservative but she doesn't want her own kids Lourdes and Rocco to have serious romantic relationships until they're 18 which even my cousin who's a fan of this ho bag admitted that to me. This sleaze is so hell bent on accusing Americans of opposing comprehensive sex ed but why the fuck did her brother even admit that this ho caught an STD herself and ended up with a couple of unwanted pregancies that aborted later. Even European stats on rape, AIDs, prostitution, and trafficking are not even that lower than what radical left wing nuts like her, idiotic professors, Hollyweirdos like them want people to believe. Europeans have fewer pregnancies though because they just don't like having as many kids as Americans want to.

I need you guys to understand why this should be forever marked in the history of television.
Do you remember any other woman before this time doing the same on public television? Speaking and debating, DEFENDING herself and stading her ground?
Godamn it! Madonna was all on fire, she was saying the things she wanted, she was opening up a gap, and trying to make the world see something obvious. Of course, you might say that deep down she just wanted to make money and be noticed. So what?! She works her ass off for it, since then, til now Madonna continues to bring everything to the table. That's one of the FEW pop artists, that are not build by her management team, she is herself, and even tho she is not always nice or right, she's an example of self confidence and self expression. For real, this woman, did a lot for the women in the business, and it's so sad that this credit is been taken out of her.

Sadboy 1999 - I totally agree with your point. I was about 14 when all of this took place and she was very targeted yet she remained focused, intelligent and her mastery of all of this kept her in place of the sort of ring master of the circus of that time.
      But she is/was not alone.
Watch some of Marilyn Monroe’s interviews from the mid 1950’s, and relative to the time period, she was very much in the same seat as being a woman in charge of her sexuality and breaking social barriers at a time when women were not allowed to be as outspoken. Her delivery is different, but the overall social context is very similar. Which is why Madonna was compared to her so much. Post Marilyn, women were allowed to be more sexual and not be ashamed of it. Every generation seems to have someone who is ahead of the curve and with enough self determination, they are able to make themselves heard for all women. This is why Gloria Steinem called Marilyn the first true feminist. The sad thing is Marilyn was an emotional wreck which got to her in the end. But what she stood for out lasted the time. (And I hope no one reads this and says Marilyn was stupid/victim/slut, whatever. Because that is exactly what she was told in her time and she just kept plowing right past that)

For those disrespecting the interviewer, he's playing a role. Madonna would not be giving these great answers if he wasn't provoking her with these questions. The reason why she doesn't get pissed off is that she recognises he's not being rude, he's not being personal and is just presenting Devil's Advocate arguments. He's actually respectful and non patronising by recognizing she has a tough enough skin to stick to the argument and not feel insulted. In fact the very last exchange was sincere; "Thank you very much Madonna, it was kind of you to talk to us", Madonna replied, "Thanks for listening to me."

@@WBscorned Do you even hear yourself? That was the most ignorant argument, full of hypocrisy I've ever heard --- So Black population is 13.5%, Asians make up about 7% in the US -- Are they less American because they are minority? They are not "normal" because they aren't the majority? Is it "fine" to not accept them?? I question YOUR morality (as well as your intelligence) based on your statement ---
And regarding your second point: Arguing on the "morality" based on what? The Bible? Have you even read the Bible?? Do you even realize that over 50% of STRAIGHT couple marriages in the US ends up in divorce and over 80% of them will remarry? The Bible clearly states that this is committing adultery which is same "sin" as homosexuality according to the Bible, That seems to be way bigger problem than 5% of (gay) population being able to marry --- yet I dont see people like you parading to ban divorce on the straight marriage -- Dont be a hypocrite -- The Bible also says EVERYONEs a sinner and let the one whose truly pure and innocent throw the first stone -- It also says "Thou shall not judge or you'd be the first one to be judged by God" --- So who gave you the moral compass to say which sins worse than the other?

It doesnt matter what the subjects were, they were all sexual in nature. My point is, is that because he was a man nobody bothered him or made such a fuss about it but as soon as Madonna did there was an outcry because she is a woman. If she was a man saying these things there would not have been such controversy.

And she still continues even at her age still pushing limits to help pave the way... A never ending battle... She had been inspired to continue... The interviewer was respectful, engaged with her on real issues, asked questions that allowed her to showcase her intellect, and pays her the compliment of drawing her out so they could have an interesting conversation. I'm also blown away by how long this interview is. So refreshing in an age where artists get 2 minutes before the interviewer says, "and very quickly, can you tell us what is next for you? 10 Fun facts about this video:
    1.
Madonna wears Autumn/Winter 1990 Black fitted long sleeve military style suit jacket with stand collar and gold-tone and black CC logo buttons from Chanel Boutique , bitch!
    2.
Released in November 6, 1990 "Justify My Love" has been certified four times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for shipments of 200,000 units in the US. It was No.1 on the Billboard Top 100 & stayed there for two weeks.
On December 6 1990, Madonna’s Justify My Love was released as the first-ever video single, priced at $9.98 & went on to sell over a million copies worldwide, becoming the best selling video single of all time. The video is a tribute to the 1963 French film Bay of Angels, which starred Jeanne Moreau.“Justify My Love” samples a beat that had previously appeared in the Public Enemy song "Security in the First World." Lenny Kravitz co-wrote and co-produced the track. The 2003 Jay Z track “Justify My Thug” is a hip hop re-working of “Justify My Love.”
    3.
At the time of this interview Madonna had already released 4 albums and "Justify My Love" was Madonna's ninth number-one single. She was already the biggest female singles artist in history, with the most number-one and top-ten hit songs by a woman in both the United States and the United Kingdom
    4.
A second "Justify My Love" remix by Andre Betts, titled "The English Mix", was sadly shelved but is now on the internet.
    5.
Camille Paglia, writing for The New York Times, called Madonna "a true feminist" and deemed the video "truly avant-garde, at a time when that word has lost its meaning in the flabby art world"
    6.
"The Beast Within" remix was condemned as anti-semitic by some Jewish organizations.
    7.
"Justify My Love" was written by singer and songwriter Ingrid Chavez as a love letter dedicated to Lenny Kravitz, who was having an affair with her at the time. He invited her over to a studio where he was producing tracks with André Betts, and then recorded the letter in one take. Months later, Lenny told Chavez that Madonna would release "Justify My Love" and asked her to sign a document saying that she would receive 12.5% publishing royalties, but no credit. She eventually signed the paper!
    8.
Chuck Campbell from the Knoxville News-Sentinel said "Justify My Love" was "so seductive it makes George Michael's 'I Want Your Sex' and Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' sound like nursery rhymes"!
    9.
Lady Gaga was (allegedly) 4 years old when this interview was aired on TV
    6.

I remember when this aired. It was the most watched episode then. It was so controversial. There was no other massive female entertainer at this mega mega stardom at that time. Today there’s all of these little minion female pop stars you can’t tell one from the next. And they’re all on the same field. They wouldn’t be able to do what they’re doing in the 80’s and 90’s. Madonna was the only one then which is difficult and without social media and the internet.

Madonna did not pave the way for female artist of to day she bulldozed the way.
Almost every female artist of today pays tribute to Madonna. And about 90% of them will admit it.

My Mom called her out 20 years ago-
While Madonna was running around poisoning everyone's mind and slutting around the world- my Mother was building her family, her empire, her legacy. She has a husband of 40 years, children, and grandchildren who love her and see her often. And most of all we all RESPECT her. She is revered like a Queen.
Now where's Madonna? She has 2 or 3 creepy unhappy children who have no children. She's almost 70, alone, stripping on stage, addicted to sex, young boys, attention, and substance. You will thank me if you put this together. And you need to or you're going to end up miserable for life if you think people like Madonna are legends.

One of my idols growing up and now, even when I wasn't allowed to watch MTV in the 80's and 90's (always snuck it when I was a kid and teenager, but then when the late 90's came around, I was always watching it because of Hanson...but, that's another story, lol)

Hands down the most important, talented and articulate pop star that took a lot of heat for so many reasons including dealing with issues and topics that were deemed too controversial at that time and could have ended her career. She didn't care! Song after song, video after video, interview after interview, shows and tours and so on...Madonna remained true to not only her fans but more importantly...HERSELF!!!! Nobody can touch what Madonna has achieved and paved the way for artists forever in the industry! LEGEND.

There will only be one Madonna. She is so smart and there is no doubt she changed the vision of women in the world, not only in the music industry. Everyone should thank this woman for speaking out in this way, fighting against human hypocrisy. I think this is the reason why lots of gay people fell in love with her art. She is an example of freedom in so many ways. Thanks, Madonna.
