@@Plexiux That's just next month now. Also I've been playing the ps3 version for 5 years now. I can't WAIT to finally understand all the extra content. I also have SO much fun playing as Flynn.
@@kaarpiv375 Nope. 7 more days... January 11th. Go reserve it. It's for the Switch, Ps4, Steam and maybe XBox One, but I didn't care enough to pay attention to that.
Tales of Vesperia I have to say plays the smoothest of all the tales of Games I have played. I like Symphonia 1 and 2, and Xillia has great mechanics, but out of the four Vesperia pays the best. Love its combat, its animations, and the characters are solid.
Not gonna lie I loved the crap out of Symphonia (and still do) it's still my number one, but I was also blown away by vesperia. It's such a great game I loved everything about it. I hope maybe for a remake/sequel to the game on the next gen systems now.
I agree, symphonia is by far my favorite (something to do with playing with 3 brothers maybe?) but this games graphics, battle system and characters were amazing. The story was a little lacking but for the sake of funship, ill glaze over it.
Abyss is my personal favourite overall. Graces had the best gameplay, to me. Xillia's only real redeeming feature to me was the gameplay... Vesperia had a lot of the polish and charm and kept it feeling very similar to Abyss and Symphonia, though the story and characters weren't that well done. Symphonia... Just hasn't aged well, to be honest.
Replaying this game for the first time in over a decade, and I think the main thing that makes combat so much more satisfying than most other tales games is how much freedom you have with your combos. It almost feels like a fighting game with how fluidly your skills cancel into each other and how long you can juggle an enemy. It just feels really good to pull off a long string of attacks.
@@NEETKitten Definitely. It has restrictions but as you progress and get more move linking Skills it's amazing how freeform it ends up feeling as you chain back and forth on the Artes. My favorite part was the selectable Overlimit ranks. So many future Tales games (and prior ones) made Overlimit so clunky to use or RNG that it wasn't a reliable tool. In Vesperia you can just activate it whenever you have bar, and if you're playing as Yuri you just combo into OL for more infinite combos. A classic game that I'm glad got a remaster/PC port.
This arrangement is fucking godly. I haven't played Vesperia in 9 years now and I still remember the Yuri Vs. Flynn battle so vividly just because of this song
I love this game :') no matter how good the others TO games are and even if hey end up getting better gameplay and everything none of them could ever replace the greatness of TOV ;~; and this theme is the best rival theme in the whole series.
Yeah, me and my friend found so much hype in this battle, although I could say this as equal par with Lloyd vs Kratos in Tales of Symphonia, where it's practically son vs father, with another good theme like this playing in the background. Of course there's lots of epic rival show downs in most of these Tales of games, which are definitely the best parts in the games, probably showing that nothing will get better than those moments in the game ever.
Imo I think there's better tales games than vesperia yes it's an amazing game like all of the games in the series but I think abyss xillia and Symphonia are the must plays of the series this is a great starting point for people who are start or people who own a 360 that is looking for a great rpg
nostalgicgamer100 idk i feel vesperia is well up there most people cling to symphonia because it was there first as i used to but when i replayed vesperia im like this is the absolute best one abyss is well up there to :P
There's an achievement on the 360 version for beating it in under 15 hours. Most people do it in about 10 if it's a pure speedrun. My first playthrough took about 60 though.
I got ToV for the very first time, and I had been hyped up until I played it. For me, this has been the worst disappointment in Tales of. Not to mention I tried Abyss about two years ago, and absolutely loved it, but Vesperia has been disappointing me the more I play it. A pity, because people make it seem as if it was great in every way. And yes, I think the gameplay is pretty underwhelming compared to past entries, even those that came before it, such as Abyss itself, Legendia, Symphonia or even Eternia
@@ignaciomurua7704 Hello, friend. I would like to say thank you. I have never seen anyone share my views on Tales of Vesperia before, and I am so happy to hear that I'm not alone. I could go into extreme detail as to my problems with this game, but basically, it just doesn't feel the same. This was my second Tales game, after Tales of Symphonia, which is my favorite game of all time. Since then I have also played Abyss, Xillia, Graces, and Symphonia's sequel, and I enjoyed all of them more. It makes me really sad because I love this series so much, but this game just doesn't hold up. It doesn't have the things that make the other games so incredible, and I honestly think the only reason this game has overshadowed its siblings is because of marketing. It's a disappointment, and I wish more people would play Symphonia and Abyss so they could see how wonderful true Tales games are.
@@sorensharp4377 Update: I actually finished Vesperia, and I enjoyed the last.... 7 hrs of it. Mostly because I felt that "things are going wrong" feeling I love so much in Tales of games, and also the gameplay got MUCH, MUCH better because I got enough skills to make up for how artificially segmented it is. I really enjoyed the very last arc HOWEVER, that doesn't make those past 45 hrs more enjoyable. The game stretches up gameplay so badly that growth system is actually a chore. I spent more time worried about not missing any important weapon (therefore, skill) than actually enjoying the plot or anything. Not to mention plot itself feels shallow. Artificially extended, like mixing up three different stories but making them be experienced by the very same cast. The whole political and social dilemma was poorly exploited and developed, and enemies or antagonists lack exposition so I never cared about defeating them or relating to them. To be honest, I grew fond of it, mostly because how gameplay ended up being, how, after some analysis I liked the whole order-chaos / left wing-right wing clash of ideals and methods the game portrays. But that aside.... compared to Abyss or Symphonia, it's pretty lackluster, especially if we consider Vesperia was done by the very same Tales of team. Vesperia seems like it tries too many things at once, but actually achieves none. My best friend insists on what he said: that I'd like more things about Vesperia if I dive deeper into it. So I'm going to give it a new chance but with New Game +. I'm not going to torture myself with that butchered pacing again. Not so soon at least. Thanks for your feedback mate.
I like to reminisce about an old friendship. A passion rivalry because we need each other. A brotherhood of opposites he was more romantic and knew what he was doing with women. He was lazy but people didn’t notice because I the working machine was there for him. I am not so good with romance and women, but he always had a way of bringing wonderful women in our life. So we join at the hip to cover our weaknesses. In IRL perfect team but in video games ultimate rivals. Brothers from another mother for life! A passion friendship I will always miss!
i so love this song ane cant wait for the best version of Tales of Vesperia to come out. Finally a version i can afford that isnt goin to cost me $80 or$90 bucks to buy new.
@TheDim15000 No, I see it too, it's on the right side of Yuri (our right) and there's a blue streak directly under his arm, it also comes out further right over his sword.
If Tales of Vesperia had its own 2D fighting game I can see 3:25 to 4:05 of this them playing for the instant kill move(all characters instant kills would be their Mystic Artes) like a Blazblue Astral Heat
I find it ironic that Yuri is pictured with a katana (Second Star), but there's only one in the game. And it's kinda useless if you used Dein Nomos. I can't speak for the PS3 port though...
@SolidEternalAbyss Actually, it's because he uses one hand to stab and the other to slash, which is probably why you've noticed a difference in damage (maybe the monster is more resistant to stab). I'm not sure which hand he uses for what, but I do know it also has to do with what direction the analog stick is pointing when you attack.
@TheDim15000 it's not that it's badly drawn, it poorly placed due to lack of contrasting colors. the tail really doesn't stand out because the colors are too similar. It isn't poorly drawn, just poorly located in the image. Though i suppose the artist didn't have too many options without making the tail look really awkward.
I've checked Gamefaqs and other sites as well, they are not releasing ToV in America on the PS3. I heard that Microsoft paid Namco to keep it exclusive in the US. I was going to get an Xbox 360 at some point anyway so I could play other games like Lost Odyssey and Gears of War.
Just recently I found out that apparently Namco had declined the payment. But for some reason still won't localize the PS3 version. They say that there is another reason but they don't feel the need to state it.
Well I only heard that there were plans to release that one on the 360. If there is one game that I would not want to have been released on the 360 it would have to be FFXIII. Mainly cause I heard that they had to cut out over half of what they had planned for it that they had to put in FFXIII-2. They would have had more room to make it not so linear. I heard that the stories of the first and second one were originally going to be put together.

It really has been that long. It feels strange measuring the time since I've played certain games in near decades.
looking at the picture, it looks as if Yuri knows how to fight while using both his sword and its sheeth, that would have been a cool fighting style
