its sawdust i'm pretty sure it'd work fine, unless your cutting green wood. then the water would evaporate and they would crumble. It would also probably rust the machine. so i would avoid that. 🤷♂
If you had these briquettes feeding directly into a gasifier you could run your workshop and more from the woodgas generated from those briquettes!
