Bud I’m extremely impressed with your attitude and your willingness to help people. That’s what life is about helping each other out. I have the same mentality about sharing knowledge. If a guy is willing to learn I’m willing to teach. Great job and keep them coming.
I know this is a old video but I came across your page a few months ago and it has really inspired me. I am currently a Marine stationed in japan but my dream has always been to start my own shop and welding business. Watching your video has really motivated me to focus on that dream when I get out. Thank you so much for all you do for us!
Used to fill some BIG gaps by knocking the flux off of a rod, tacking the end of the rod in the gap, and bend down into the gap. Lather rinse repeat. When the gap is bridged, use a fast freeze rod and lay a bead over all the "nails". Once the gap is welded, change to LH rod and run a cap over the whole thing. I've seen 3/8" gaps closed that way..
Camera is awesome! Huge difference. Another trick to closing a gap my gramps taught me is to get a good hot tack on it then give that tack one good hit. Your lucky if you can get two without breaking it lol I’ve used that quite a bit over the years works pretty good. Just thought I’d share if ya didn’t already know about it.
I've also used a 1/8in hard disc to backup those paper discs in a pinch. Keeps it super flat and helps get through thick mill scale. Kinda scary but it works.
I have no aspirations to becoming a rig welder. But I love Fabrication work and you pipe liners do a great job giving me different ideas to improve my fab work. I also am an entrepreneur and love your motivational type videos. Keep it up
Jacob Schofield I train quarter horses for a living to go compete at quarter horse shows. I love the Denver stock show. I restore jeeps and build rock crawlers for fun.
Love your channel. Pipelining is one of my dreams for the next year. Your channel has showed me a lot of what I’ll need and I appreciate all your hard work. Keep it up!
pipelining? got to 3g and 4g inch D1.1 plates like its taking a piss before you even think of pipelining (6g and 6gr). not trying to knock ur dreams but don't put the chariot b4 the horses bra. MASTER 3G AND 4G b4 6G
Jacob Schofield Wasn't directing my reply at you brother. You know your stuff. Just saw a fellow brother reply he wants to pipe weld this year. Wanted him to make sure he's mastered his D1.1 3G and 4G inch plates b4 he starts gangster 6G pipe.

awesome vids brother.... just recently found your channel. I have a welding business in colorado. I post videos on our hunting channel but I would like to do more videos on some of our blacksmithing projects. What kind of camera and mic did you get?
I know it's an old video but I'd prefer to hear more wind and all hear the machine and the weld as how it sounds is just as much important as how puddle looks and feels
For the legs could you not use the stand you built it on for in the field. And for us we use our receiver hitch. Love your. Videos. Asking for a friend.
Off topic Do you have to go to college to go into pipeline? I’m working on pipe welding right now in school, I’m hoping once I’m out of high school to go into pipeline, but I figured being a helper first would be best. Your opinion? Or is there a video you made?
8:29 Out of interest, 3rd gear and 35, would equate to how many amps?? All weldsets here in uk ive ever used, wether 3phase supply or engine driven, have had an amperage pot
How do we send u emails? Ill send you some cool tower welding videos. I started my llc and got rigged up one year ago, its been great however I hate being limited to structural. learning how to weld pipe is a huge goal of mine right now and your videos help a lot and they are a lot of fun!
Another question for ya... Don't know if other people what to see it but how about a vid on pipe fitting? I'm new to the game (6 years) and dont know how to fit for shit. I eyeball everything and it pisses me off. Like a vid on how the measure the length of a 90, offsets, and how to 2 hole flanges on risers to one another.... Shit like that. I work for a water company that thinks once you get a welding cert you know how to do it all. Or if anyone out there can give me advice, books to buy, or vids I'm all ears.
HillBillyRocker got lots of fitter material on here how to rolling offsets, two holing flanges all kinda of stuff just scroll through. Let me know if you can find them
pretty cool not at work and bring home the scrap to build projects pull off the side of the road and start fabing lol this is how 95% of welding rigs get built lol

I've always liked the " whatever grabs grabs" method

I have no aspirations to becoming a rig welder. But I love Fabrication work and you pipe liners do a great job giving me different ideas to improve my fab work. I also am an entrepreneur and love your motivational type videos. Keep it up
