    I think keeping space that equals to the width of your core material between the panels and wall would definitely absorb more lows. You should give it a try.

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  3 роки тому +2

      I really dont remember the span but i guess you will be fine with 32" by 56". For fabric you can really use anything, which is breathable. Meaning just take the fabric near ur mouth and place a hand behind it and blow through it. You should feel the gush of air on hand. Than the fabric is breathable and can be used! Happy building

      And like brijesh said, you will get rockwool from local construction dealers on Indiamart for less than half the price of Roxul(which is 3600 for 6 panels of 4*2ft 50mm, 100kg/m³ on Aural exchange) but order more than you need because a part of it will be in bad condition and a lot more dust. The more the density = more absorbtion or vice versa?

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  2 роки тому

      Thats very tricky. The more the density the less the absorption. For eg hard materials have high density right? So they reflect rather than absorb. So there has to be a particular middle ground for best absorption. Thus different densities are used for different freq of absorption. 90-100 is ideal for acoustic treatment of mids and highs and upper lows. For extreme lows the lower density even upto 40 is used.

    Thanks for the video man, when I entered the website there is showing density over there which one is better 40kg/M3 or 100kg/M3....there are graphs given below but almost similar

  • @thestylesworld
    @thestylesworld 3 роки тому +3

    No doubt that fiberglass or mineral wool are the best materials for acoustic treatment. I only have a doubt that Rockwool could shed its micro fibers in the air & the person in the studio could inhale it, which can cause respiratory disease in long-term. Rockwool is designed to put inside the a home or a building wall for insulation & sound proofing purposes.

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  3 роки тому

      That is why we cover it with Cloth. So that the fibers dont escape the Frame. Also the micro fibers are not so small as you are imagining. They cant really escape a cloth with 200+ thread count

    • @thestylesworld
      @thestylesworld 3 роки тому +1

      @@BrijeshSarin My dear, fibers are in microscopic size and can easily cross the pores in the fabric or cloth. Search about the study done on these fibers, which can even cause lung cancer or lung fibrosis, just like Asbestos. These fibers are designed to keep inside the wall, so that the harmful fibers do not release into the indoor air.

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  3 роки тому +1

      Your research is correct. But you have misunderstood the thing. It has fibres ranging from 2 to 6 micrometers in DIAMETER. not in length. The main problem with the rock wool is during the installation. As new bats may contain a lot of Rockwool dust and loose fibres. And that is what is problemetic. Not the ones after u install them. Remeber this is not something loose. Its madeup of intertwined fibres.
      For refrence human hair is 17 micrometers in diameter.
      So a still rockwool panel does not shed fibres or dust in the room. That is possible when u leave it without any covering, like when u use it for growing plants. Thats when it is harmfull. I hope it clears your doubt.
      Also yes its used for insulation, but its also always used for acoustic treatment, all around the world.
      Just when its getting installed utmost care should be taken. Like gloves, goggles, mask or even a hazmat suit. Thank You!!

    • @thestylesworld
      @thestylesworld 3 роки тому +1

      @@BrijeshSarin Now the scenario is, fabric pores are much larger than 6 microns (size of the fiber). Studio monitors are producing loud sound waves , which are striking to the acoustic panels and causing continuous mechanical pressure. What is the surety that the fibers will not leak thru the fabric pores? I'll never take this risk when I have a healthier choices to use recycled denim insulation, which have almost similar performance as Rockwool.

    • @BrijeshSarin

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  3 роки тому +1

      A lot of factors need to be considered, there is no general trick for that. Factors such as, where is the place located, how is the construction done, what is adjacent, how many windows, doors etc. Normally if you want to sound proof you need to make the space Airtight, meaning there should be no gaps, but at the same time there should be ample mass and gaps too.

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  3 роки тому +1

      No using many panels does not control the Bass Frequencies. But in my particular case there is one big closet from top to bottom and a passage on the other corner that again helps me control the low frequencies. And this panels only really help above 800-1000 hz 😄. So You need to make bass traps to controll the low end.

      I really don't remember the span but i guess you will be fine with 32" by 56". For fabric you can really use anything, which is breathable. Meaning just take the fabric near your mouth and place a hand behind it and blow through it. You should feel the gush of air on hand. Than the fabric is breathable and can be used! Happy building :)

    Hey Brijesh,
    What is the approximate cost of each item that you have used?
    What do those wood cost?
    I am trying to do this only at my place - and was thinking of choice between
    1) 40mm EPE Foam (can cover these with moshi cloth and attach to a velcro hook and loop type - stuck on wall, for easy attachment and removal)
    2) Rockwool
    EPE Foam 40mm comes in 2m x 1.5m - costs 500 rupees for that.
    Rockwool 50mm thickness comes in 1m x 1m - costs 175 rupees for that.
    But the major cost for rockwool based acoustic panel is for the wood being used.
    Can you let me know the approximate cost of one panel for you, and what the size of each panel is?

    • @BrijeshSarin
      @BrijeshSarin  3 роки тому +1
