It was Darkstalkers. But it's undeniable that this game's art is very GG like. Maybe It also influenced the devs? Also i would point out that i noticed that ground fire projectile looks like Sol's, except for Sol's projecile coming out near his body. Even the guy looks a little like him.
This game does not run at speed on the mini consoles but I got it working at speed on my pc. Mame version 0198b. And the rom 0198b from planetemu. Asura buster works too. Cheers! Get the mame from official mame site under previous versions.
Some people (probably the younger) might be critics of that big amount of fg's in that period, but that was a good ecosystem for the stronger fg franchises to evolve. Variety is always positive, even for the game developer of another company, to offer many ideas, in gameplay, art, sound, etc.

game looks and sounds so good. shame it didnt come to console. would probably be a struggle getting that animation into psx ram though
Every time the announcer says Yashaoh's name, it sounds like "Gaston."
Hope you do Asura Blade 2, also Lightning is my main. Also Yashoah's and Lightning's play style changes if you discard/throw your sword.
