    Good video and nice and simple. How do you guys go about protecting the roosters from foxes etc when you have a field full of these barrels?

      We have 3 amazing great pyrenees, ranging in age from 13 months to 5 1/2, who are all family pets yet fierce guardians. We have a heavy predator load where we live, from black bear, coyotes, bobcats and all the smaller trouble makers yet we've had zero loss to predation since we added the first one.
      Many people will tell you that a livestock guardian dog isn't capable of being trusted with poultry until the age of 2. Nope! Choose wisely. You'll want to be sure of the breeding, definitely nothing mixed with a non LGD breed and even better if you can score one from another poultry farm! Then invest the time and effort into bonding and training. You'll wonder how you ever managed without them!

      It’s a short piece cut to 1 1/2” long with a 1/4” bit drilled through both sides. I just made one this morning so I thought I’d share.

    How far apart do you put the barrels with this length of chord?

    • @bottomlinefarm2458
      @bottomlinefarm2458  2 роки тому

      They need to be a minimum of 5' apart because, with enough determination, a rooster can stretch the cord. Personally, my barrels are 21' apart.

    What is that bolt called? And what are the things on the ends of your tie cord that holds everything in place?

    • @bottomlinefarm2458
      @bottomlinefarm2458  2 роки тому +1

      The bolt is a 1/4" eye bolt. The thing on the ends of the tie cord to hold everything in place are called caps. If you don't have a supplier near you, you can order from Belle Farms.
