The collaboration between Pune Air Force Station (AFS) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is crucial for this road's development. AFS has proposed leasing 9.6 acres of defense land to PMC for this project, with an estimated cost of 43 crore based on the ready reckoner rates.
The extended runway will accommodate a broader range of aircraft, including widebody planes like the Airbus A340 and Boeing 747, potentially increasing both domestic and international flight frequencies. Safety measures will also be bolstered with the construction of a 10-foot security perimeter wall around the AFS premises.
Notably, this project will provide an alternate route for residents of Munjaba Wasti, Dhanori, and those traveling to Vishrantwadi, offering a much-needed solution to traffic congestion. The new road will be wider (24 meters or 80 feet), featuring double lanes and a divider, facilitating smoother traffic flow.

New airport is still needed as passenger capacity will still be very less. If Pune wants to keep growing and attract new business, a proper international airport is essential.
Something is better than nothing bro. New Airport seems to be a distant dream. At least with this expansion, Pune can be connected to more international destinations which would propel more economic activity.

For International, people prefer taking flights from Mumbai (not sure if its because of less connectivity from here or more fare) and New Airport has to be built at outer Pune which will then may take same commuting time as going to Mumbai so not sure if that would be better idea or not
This will be disastrous for growth of punes future, international airport is badly needed for import export cargo and tourism
Mumbai is already getting a 2nd airport, so it will make no sense to have 3 big airports in this small region. Hence, I don't think they will make a new airport. No region in India will be having so many big airports in so small region. Infact after expanding terminal, there may be increase in destinations. And one can go to Navi Mumbai airport if he wants to go somewhere which is not available in Pune airport, Navi mumbai airport is getting connected to Highway ig. And the old building of Pune will also get renovated so the airport is gonna increase its capacity by a lot.
Good Coverage Saudaghar Team. I hope they will create strong road network around this airport. If they construct inner PMRDA ring road(Charholi-Logegaon-Wagholi)and give one wide road connectivity to this airport then from any direction of city airport will be easily reachable.

Purandar airport will be like Bangalore airport. Where we have to spend more money and more time to reach the airport from pune city. Viman nagar airport is good which is located in city.
Earlier Vimannagar and kharadi were too outside main Pune City which is 20-25 kms.
Same is Purandar international airport which is 30 kms from Pune,as ring road will be constructed the distance will be less.
And in defence estate you cannot extend civil airport.
There is a lot of shortage of land in mainland Pune.
As said by Nitin Gadkari "New Pune" should be settled like "New Delhi" "New Mumbai".
Soon or later Pune is going to need an international civil airport for sure .

Purandar airport project should be taken up at the earliest to attract more business and decongest the present location. The present Lohegaon air strip should be totally operated by IAF.

kudos to saudaghar for making such video. Current airport clearly lacks the strong road connectivity. It's been more than 10 years but still there are no major development in Dhanori / Airport road / 509 chowk.

What about the Forest road? Which connects lohgaon to kharadi bypass
Dhanori has the worst town planning. It seems dhanori town planning was done after people started to settle here. Roads should be planned first and then people should be allowed to settle but in the case of dhanori its the other way around. Drinking water is another issue. Just to travel 9-10 km to the commerce zone from dhanori it takes 30-40mins. In Similar time, people living in wakad or tathewade reach commerce zone.
Completely agree. That’s why we purchased flat connected to Aundh-BRT road instead of purchasing in poorly planned areas like Wagholi, Dhanori or Keshav Nagar. These undeveloped localities will take localities will take lot of time to get developed. Situation in Wagholi might improve in future considering open land parcels to construct roads. However, in Dhanori and Keshav Nagar already a lot of unplanned growth happened which can’t be undone.

I live in Bramha Skycity and builder is saying the same thing since past 5-6 years. Donot believe unless you see road connectivity on the ground. Also, Bramha Skycity doesn't have connecting land till the proposed dp road even if it comes. Builder will have to purchase that first.
@@HelloRohitSaini Very True, don't believe any builder when it comes to Road Development/Construction in Dhanori or Lohegaon, I did purchased flat in Dhanori in year 2013, where Builder told that till possession of flat DP road will be ready, reality is till today we are forced to use narrow passage road connecting society to main road.. So don't take buying decisions basis future road..

Considering the high caliber of district politicians It will take another 40 years for purandar airport . Navi Mumbai first board ,annoucement came in 1982 .still 5 years for first take off.

Pune wont get new Purandar airport for simple 2 reasons:
1. Extension is planned which will increase capacity hence sufficient for near 2-3 yeras.
2. New airport at Panvel will attract 50% of Pune commuters specially from north,west Pune. Existing airport capacity will be sufficient.

This is like applying band aid on a serious disease. After increasing runway international flights will be able to land but will this airport be able to contain the amount of passenger load with just 2 terminals?. It will become like Mumbai airport. Bangalore too was operating on HAL defence airport till 2005 but it became congested and they begin building the greenfield airport. They didn't applied band aid treatment like this.

Instead of making new road, they can make wide under ground road, below air strip / air port.
The Lohegaon Airport in Pune falls under the jurisdiction of the Indian Air Force, hence the construction of any underground roads in the vicinity is not feasible due to the potential security threats it may pose to the Air Force.
