The EKET cube system is quite affordable, but i can only recommend it to be assembled without the backside pannel... otherwise you might swear the hell out of this product (as I did!) because it just doesn't work out. I built five of them and due to the backside pannels it was a nightmare! As you can see in all of the video clips the fitting of those pannels is left out-- for a reason.... :-(
Assembled 12 cubes and had no problems with the backside panels. Worked just like it should.
backside panel juste don't fit. I'm on it for 30 minutes.
Close to crying here. Maybe there was a production error. But I just can't get it to fit when I'm doing the fourth board. And I have A LOT of Experience building furniture.
@@trivvytriv I bought 3. On 3, 1 was impossible to fit. So I cut the back panel a bit a it solved the problem

Doesn’t really help if the video tells you to „follow the instruction until the end“.....
So much better than the wordless instruction sheet. Removing a cabinet from the wall is easy when you pull the bottom forward, then twist.
However, do not just put screws into random drywall locations. Use studs when possible and wall anchors otherwise. The translation for these comments sucks (like Ikea online support).
Ich habe noch nie soviel Schwierigkeiten gehabt ein Ikea Regal aufzubauen. Als Frau habe ich nicht soviel Kraft. Und obwohl ich mit Teil 1 angefangen habe, bekomme ich das letzte Teil kraftmäßig nicht ganz in die Endposition. Ich muss jetzt auf meinen Freund warten, weil der mehr Kraft hat. Ich war beim Kauf erst so euphorisch und jetzt völlig deprimiert.
keine Kraft ist nötig. Die Solution liegt mit Helmut, erste Antwort am ersten Kommentar (von LS) auf dieser Seite.
Also wenn es nach dem Video ginge, wäre das in 1 Min. fertig, die letzte Seite muss man auflegen, nach unten schieben und gleichzeitig die Rückwand in die Nut einpassen. Zudem schieben sich die Teile nicht so einfach zusammen. Ich hab einen Gummihammer zu Hilfe nehmen müssen da die vorgebohrten Löcher vermutlich nach "Midsommer" gebohrt worden sind da es nicht genau passt (auch die typische IKEA-Toleranz wurde hier nicht angewendet). Die letzte Seite des Regals hab ich übrigens angeklebt, die angebrachten Plastikdübel entfernt, so gehts einigermaßen. Werde es jedenfalls nicht mehr kaufen.
I can't get the last piece on with the backing panel in place. If I remove it and build with box with no backing board I have no trouble at all. It doesn't seem reasonable the last piece can slide on so simply when the board is DESIGNED to dig into the groove in the backing panel. I freeze framed this video at the point just before the last panel is installed and this guy's backing panel was sitting further into the box than mine BUT mine is sitting all the way to the back of the groove! I've also seen another video from a couple who were cutting their backing board down to solve this problem. I think there is a real design flaw with EKET that your videos aren't showing.
Hi Mel - I believe you have now found my explanation directly above (as a reply to Helmut, who explains it properly in German.) It can be done without cutting, but only by taking the boards exactly in the right order. The instructions are nowhere near as clear as they need to be. All the side boards look as if they are the same, but they are not. Piece number 1 has a deeper groove, so it has to be the one into which you slide the back, for the final side to fit.

Hi, would really be glad to know, how you can disassemble the doors with the push in top hinge without damaging the furniture.
There is a video from a guy who forces a pointy knife in to press down the top hing, but it doesn't look like something I want to do if there is another way.

The side labeled 1 needs to be the bottom because it has a deeper groove. If it’s not the bottom the top won’t go on. I’m sure there are many more tips they should write in the manual. I’m not hanging on the wall.
....so the piece with the marked 1 might as well have the word "bottom" on it???
Why the hell do they place the "1" on a cubic piece of furniture then??? why don't they write "butterfly" on it... or "chewing gum"?
In my manual it is shown on page ten in a horizon perspective.... :-((

I find it a bit strange that it can move sideways. it makes the adjusting easy, but it's odd you can tighten things for good s that they don't move at all. one issue I also found is that the black parts holding the top of rear panel are interfering with the rail. I removed them on all my boxes.

The only video giving details on assembly says you must cut .25in off back panel. I tried to assemble a quad unit and it was impossible to put them all together without doing this -- there is a conflict among the joining pegs and the back panel when you try to add the final side panel. If it could be done with more concentrated force or a protected mallet, that should be a key point of the manual or future videos.

Not true - the secret is that the back panel slides in properly in only one direction - into the panel marked "1". If you have put the sides on in a different order and are trying to slide the back in so it goes toward any other side, then, as you say, the pegs do not line up properly, and you end up thinking you need to trim a centimetre off the back. If you are sliding it in the right way, you don't.
It took me a couple of hours and some foul language to figure this out yesterday - and I had five boxes to build, so I needed to get it right. I had to disassemble two boxes to get it right. The instructions (I was doing a four-box kit, so with a central board and two short side boards) do show which sides to put on in which order, but it looks when you're doing it as if they can go together in any order. They can't!

@@IKEAdeutschland this is a TOTALLY useless response to Vincent, who raised a serious issue about your product not being able to be asssembled without special cutting not mentioned in the instructions. Just saying 'thank you' does not tell him how to assemble the box or respond to his suggestion that one needs to cut or use brute force - neither of which are what IKEA wants people to think about its products. As it happens, Helmut's first comment (in German, so not accessible to everyone who wants to assemble the product) pointed out the problem and the solution, and I have made comments in two (now three) places in this thread (though had not done so at the time you responded to Vincent, but Helmut had).
Habe mir (leider) 4 von diesen "EKET"-Dingern gekauft und wollte sie an die Wand hängen...
"Um schrauben zu sparen und das Aufbauen zu erleichtern, verwenden wir Steckverbindungen". Schön, nur schade, dass ich mich (26, männlich) mit meinem gesamten Körpergewicht auf das Teil lege und NICHTS passiert. Erst mit einem Hammer konnte ich die Teile ineinander schieben. Dementsprechende Spuren haben die EKET-Dinger jetzt. Danke für nichts.
Das war wohl das erste und letzte mal, dass ich hier etwas gekauft habe.

i cannot get some pieces to be flushed with the next piece. i used a hammer and still cant get it to sit flushed. Its just one or two mm but I prefer it flushed
Instead of using screws for the wooden base, a simpler way of attaching it would be to use 2 short wooden "pins or guides" ( 1 pin on each side ) with pre drilled sockets / holes in both the eket cabinet and the base for the guiding pins to be insterted, making the assembly even more simple and tool-less.
Aufeinander gestapelt fehlt vorne eine Befestigung. So klappt es wieder auf. Ich werde Doppelkleband nutzen. Aber hier fehlt eine Lösung wenn man es als Nachttisch nutzt.

Did not fit at all. After assembly I had an ugly looking 1mm gap because the plastic stubs were in the wrong place (or the holes, depending on how you look at it). When I tried to force it to fit, one of the plastic thingies finally broke off.
I ended up just cutting all plastic things off with a saw and used glue to properly assemble the cube. This is easily the worst piece of s*** mounting system that Ikea has ever designed.
I hope it was worth it to save 1 cent in production cost for the plastic piece of s*** mounting system over a proper metal mounting system like all other Ikea items have. 1 cent saved, a couple of customers lost forever.
does the eket hold books? and will it be stable enough for a cat that jumps on them like steps?

How much weight can each cube withstand if hanged on the wall? I planning to get this to store my vinyl records. There's no space in my apartment to put them on the floor. I can only hang them on the wall.

Hallo, ist der weiße Farbton der EKET Serie eher RAL 9016 oder RAL 9010 ?
The product has been upgraded by Ikea and now only sides have holes and "1" and back have pins. Unfortunately it's still a really shitty product and fitting the back is nearly impossible, if you have problem with it, then place the thing in the cardboard it came in, cut part of that cardboard, place it over misaligned part and smash it with a hammer. And I mean smash. Even with lots of smashing it's still slightly misaligned here and there, never saw anything as shitty as this from Ikea, feels like $2 product from Aliexpresss. Please just make 25 centimeters deep Kallax and remove this disgrace of a product from your stock.
Assemble in the order described in the manual.. you read the manual right? Set i on the floor an apply a little pressure, so easy
4th part does not get together at all! I am desperate... How can I take it off (only 1 side entered the other remains with about 5mm distance - they are aligned till down, but the pins remain partially uncovered. HELP!
gestellgeviert The groove in the side labeled with the 1 is deeper than the rest. When you slide the back into the slot you HAVE to slide it through the sides into the one marked with the 1.

Das Zusammenstecken musst du selbst machen, du kriegst bloß Einzelteile von Ikea. 😃
Es hilft, z.B. mit einem Gummihammer vorsichtig auf die Ecke zu schlagen.
Nicht alle sind ganz genau gearbeitet.

We have difficulties clicking the cabinet on the rail. I''m not sure if we did it right. Is it normal that there is a little space between the wall and the cabinet at the upper part? If you look at it from the side it doesn't really look good; it looks crooked

Das letzte Teil anbringen wurde super geschnitten. Sieht sehr einfach aus, ist es aber nicht. Obwohl ich mit der Nummer 1 angefangen habe. In der Theorie gut, aber das stecksystem funktioniert nicht, wie es dargestellt wird… würde ich nie wieder kaufen.
Meine Frau hatte auch ihre Probleme damit, nachdem ich es Ihr richtig gezeigt habe, konnte sie es ohne Probleme. Ich hatte da überhaupt nichts zu bemängeln. Einfach die Anleitung richtig und genau anschauen und auf die vielen Details achten, dann geht es auch. ;)

This video is sci-fi. The components do not fit as shown and you are obbliged to force them. The final result depends on how precise has been the fabrication of the pieces. I mounted 2 2x2 shelves that were okay but the third was a complete mess. The concept is ill conceived. Much better the old system.

teil 1 hat eine 2 mm tiefere nut, deshalb dieses zuerst hinlegen, dann die beiden seiten links und rechts mit sanftem druck oder gummnihämmerchen in position bringen.
in dieses untere brett (1) vor endmontage etwas leim in die nut geben und rückwand reinschieben, nun geht das letzte teil genauso einfach wie der rest--bevor der leim trochnet die rückwand 2 mm in die andere richtung schieben.
I can't find any conclusive instruction anywhere on what kind of screws should be used for wall-mounting the brackets? how long, how wide, what drill size, what wall anchor? in this video it looks like he screws it straight into the wall without drilling and / or wall anchors?
the usual IKEA line for this is that wall materials vary so greatly that no single instruction can cover them all. You have to consider the wall you are putting the boxes on - drywall, plaster, wood, stone, whatever - and use whatever attaches best to that material. So IKEA never includes the screws for that. ditto for bookshelf anti-tip devices - they give you screws to attach the bracked to the bookshelf but the owner has to decide how to attach to the wall.
Worst product Ikea ever made, and that is impressive. My palms hurt like fuck. What the hell were they thinking. You can clearly see this video is cut on the parts where it's impossible to do easily

A video in english on the assembly of the drawers would be helpful , particularly on the levelling of the drawers . How you should level the drawers is not clearly mentioned in the instruction .

Meine güte so wie er es im Video macht geht es nicht
Allein schon bei min 0:50 wie er das letzte teil von oben reindrückt obwohl die hintere Wand oben ist.Ich habe mir vor 2 Tagen 4 Eket würfel im IKEA Walldorf geholt und bei allen ist es unmöglich diese so aufzubauen wie in diesem Video. Wenn bei mir die Rückseite oben liegt muss ich das letzte Teil von unten inein drücken. BITTE HILFE
Der Witz ist, dass die Nut bei Teil 1 tiefer ist als bei den anderen Teilen. Dadurch lässt sich die Rückwand quasi komplett reinschieben und stört nicht beim Befestigen des letzten Seitenteils. Ich habe zuerst auch mit dem Teil "1" angefangen, aber nicht darauf geachtet, dass dann die links und rechts links montiert werden. Aufbauanleitung nur gut wenn man schon weiß wie es geht.

hatte als geklappt mit den großen ist es auch einfach aber mit den flachen also die mit weniger Innenraum sind ein Krampf und fast unmöglich aufzubauen da die dünne wand zu breit ist und das andere Blockiert

Ich hatte anfangs Schwierigkeiten die letzte Wand reinzubekommen. Durch das Video kam die Erleuchtung: Ganz wichtig! Man muss mit der Nummer 1 anfangen. Dann kriegt man das auch alles genauso problemlos hin wie im Video.
Eket is the biggest sh1t i`ve ever had in my life. First i have to say i need all my weight and more to get this sh1t pieces together and the last one will not get into the rest of them. the back panel always break out and the nip nops broke! i hate it -.-
Und was wird nicht gezeigt? Wie man mit Plastiknägeln die Verbindung befestigen soll. Jeder zweite knickt ab, eine Katastrophe. Wer kommt auf so Ideen?
The new assembly is horrible, whoever invented that did not test it with customers. Go back to old screws pls.
This is bogus. I thought the hardware it came with, you can use them for pegs as a stand or there were hardware to hang the eket on the wall. What a wasted time and when I followed the directions, still one board still didn't seem to go in right. I had to keep hitting it with brute force to get it in
see the comments above about how to get that fourth board on - it involves ensuring that the back is inserted into board number 1 and no other.

Selbst mit Hammer bekomme ich das letzte Teil nicht rein. Wir sitzen hier seit 3 tagen. Es haben 5 leute probiert das scheissding zusammen zu bauen. 😂 und es ist immer noch nicht geschafft. Passgenaue dübel sind es auch nicht. Raus bekommt man sie nicht. Die teile auseinander auch nicht mehr. Achja und wie ich die türen anbringen soll ist mir auch ein Rätsel :(

GAB .C I don't think. At Ikea France, it's not. You have to buy the feet or the suspension rail separately.
