Im glad you mentioned the ones with alternative sweetners. As a diabetic my options are slim. One thing i have also done is get a double shot in a large glass with ice and add a protien shake.
As a diabetic you should be aware of recent studies showing most of those alternative sweeteners have the exact same impact on our bodies. If my body can't tell the difference but my tongue can I see no reason to deal with the ever present bitterness of alternative sweeteners. That's just me though and I have no desire to live forever so I take my diabetes into consideration but never let it dictate anything entirely.

Yeah, whatever else you may say about Starbucks, it has the caffeine down. Green (or white) tea is all I can drink, Starbucks is the only place that’s gets me going.
The triple shot was my absolute favorite until they changed the recipe. Very much tastes like a liquid desert compared to coffee, but i enjoyed their old recipe a lot! Too bad they had to mess it up🙃

I spent a few years living in Japan, where these are really popular. I have to admit; I got to quite like a few of them. Convenience stores (and some vending machines) have little spots where they warm them and keep them warm. So when there wasn't a convenient cafe near work, these were fine. Wonda and Boss were my go to. Having said that, I haven't bought one since I left there.
I've only ever had canned coffee in Spain on holiday when I was too anxious to talk to people at a coffee shop so I just bought some at the supermarket. It didn't really taste like coffee, but more like mocha ice-cream so it was okay.

Tbh the monster mean bean is my go to when i'm out and need something quick and easy. It's decent, you can find it almost anywhere, and i'd rather drink that than take a risk on something i'm unfamiliar with.
When I worked my awful job years ago, I would go to a gas station and get these on my lunch break. I traveled 25 to 30 miles one way and got gas often. The gas station would sell these for 2 for 4$, which is a steal. My favorite was the Mean Bean or the Java Mocha. I would literally drink 2 of these a day, 3 or 4 days a week. I'm curious to see how they hold up now lmfao.

I recently bought a bag of medium roast coffee beans I am new to this and don't have any equipment I just put my ground coffee in mug of boiling water around 95 degree C and just use a strainer to brew it, brew time 4 to 5 min but, the main thing is that I don't like the taste of my brewed coffee and rather like the instant coffee more(Nescafe). I buy blue tokai coffee beans can you tell me what's the problem. 😊😊
Hi, I suggest you either get yourself a french press or an Aeropress. Try and brew the coffee with one of those according to the instructions or using an online guide, there are many, and see if you prefer that. Coffee goes real deep, so dip your toes in to see if you're into it and go further then. Those two are great places to start with, they're quite inexpensive and easy to get. After that you can maybe invest in an inexpensive coffee grinder and a V60 or a Chemex and try some filtered coffee using whole beans. That's where I'd start at least. Hope that helps!
Without buying equipment, I would suggest lowering your brew time, and being more precise. 4 to 5 minutes is a fairly large range. For medium roast I think people usually go closer to 3.5 minutes. I'm a dark roast guy though. I would a.so recommend buying a pack of basket filters. Very minimal investment, you can just lay one in a strainer and pour through it. You can also use a tightly woven cloth. But leaving g ground coffee in the mug will add more unpleasant flavor over time. Finally, it's possible you just like the flavor of instant coffee! Most of us find that our preferences develop over time, though. I don't know any coffee lovers who still prefer their original brew. I loved instant as a young teenager, and now in my 40s I barely tolerate it.

However, I agree that freshly ground coffee gives more of the different notes than instant coffee and I have also tried brewing by South Indian filter method but still didn't like it. I've never had a Califia coffee drink, but their almond milks have a very weird, unpleasant aftertaste to me. My wife agreed, so even when the Califia is on sale, we avoid it and stick with...really, any other brand. Looking forward to trying the Water Avenue, the Stumptown cold brew, and the Ethiopian Natural (if I can find it).
I've never seen most of these, but I was curious how UCC would stand up in this lineup. You find it in grocery stores more often than gas stations, but it's been a favorite of mine forever.
I've tried a decent number of the ones here, but I agree Original UCC is by far my favorite canned coffee. It's the only one I've found to be worth purchasing numerous times.

As someone who works for starbucks. I really don’t like our cold brew, i don’t like the double shot energy whatever they are called, and yeah lol but i enjoyed this. Also side note I also as a kid would have those Starbucks frappuccino drinks but i always got the vanilla one and yeah it doesn’t taste like coffee. it’s more like coffee essence
As someone who can't make myself drink black coffee, my favorite canned coffees I've had are the La Colombe ones. They're not as sickly sweet as some of the big coffee chain ones but they're still a sweet and light feeling. I practically lived on their triple shot lattes when I ran a sailing program for a couple summers
While these videos are fantastic and I will watch every single one (in part because I neither enjoy coffee nor can physically tolerate the levels of caffeine in a cup of black tea, much less coffee), it might not be a terrible idea to film these over more than one day? It's such a fun series, but it's getting a little worrying. Having said that, you know you best and what works for you 👍 (I apologize if I came across a little bossy/preachy, it just seems like a lot of coffee all at once and I didn't feel like I could keep it to myself ☕)
I love your testing and ranking videos! I was a little sad not to see the starbucks espresso & cream there. That was a staple for me in school, its only ingredients are espresso, milk, cream, and sugar. I found it just the right amount of sweet and satisfyingly creamy since it has the real cream in it. However considering the staggering amount you tasted I'm not surprised some things didn't make it!
If you ever come to Europe, specifically Switzerland and the surrounding countries, you simply must try the „Emmi Caffe Latte“ products. Emmi is a swiss dairy producer and those drinks are chilled coffee drinks, mostly with milk but vegan options are available too! (Also store brand alternatives in pretty much every grocery store here) These drinks have an absolute chokehold on swiss commuters wanting a somewhat cheaper refreshing cold latte experience ☺️
13:36 On that, one of my biggest food pet peeves is vanilla flavored things that aren't actually vanilla flavored. 99% of the time vanilla just means "very very sweet", and there's no actual vanilla flavor. As someone that actually really likes the flavor of vanilla, it drives me insane.

I hardly see any in my specific area of England, and when I do it's often not the right milk/coffee pairing. I remember trying the Sbux nitro cold brew 5 years ago, during my first quarter of undergrad: They had a truck outside the university building I had a class in, and my friend Riley (who I met in that class) and I both got a free branded lil glass before heading in. I tried it before class began and didn't like it due to the bitterness, but Riley didn't try his till partway thru the lecture...immediately recoiling and making a face in displeasure. After class, we went to the nearby buffet-style commons, and he added whatever ingredient(s) that finally made it "tolerable."
It's definitely not my preferred way to drink coffee, but canned cold brew is always super convenient. Also, idk what is is about the plain Stumptown cold brew but it always gives me enough energy to fight the sun - sometimes I can't even finish it
I think its probably very local but my favorite is Dark Matter Coffee out of Chicago, they have a rotating menu of flavors for their canned coffees. If they aren't available Stumptown is always really solid.
I always freeze the Starbucks frappe lol. (I gotta taste a frozen & non frozen version & compare one Day). You could take a step away from the drink version & try the food like coffee chocolate?
On the Monster Java thing; one evening with some friends, on a dare, I agreed to try a Java Gonster (It's half a glass of monster with a half glass Guinness float), and it weirdly really improved it. Like, don't get me wrong-it wasn't amazing, like a solid 6 out of ten. But way less heinous than I expected, and okay enough that if someone was already making them (for some godforsaken reason), I might not turn it down if offered it. I think the comparative bitterness of the stout just really helps cut the sweetness of the Java monster, and they weirdly work. Though don't drink more than 3 gonsters in an evening, unless you want to feel BAD. Also, there are some really solid Japanese canned coffee drinks, and if you're into doing more of these, seeing some of those could be fun!
OH MY, you should try Indonesian RTD Coffee, none of them RTD Coffee is a plain black coffee, NONE, but all of em is pretty much liquid sugar creamer with a lil bit of instant reconstituted coffee (yes its not pure coffee), like 0.6 to 1.6% of the ingredients is them instant reconstituted coffee, even the said "Black Coffee" is pretty much Water, Sugar, 1.0% ish IR Coffee, and food coloring (along with a puck of preservatives). the lowest sugar used in the RTD Coffee is about 9g of sugar in a 180ml of serving, and most of them are in Plastic bottles

You really should have tossed in some of the Asian canned products. Sorta curious as to how those match with your palate. (if you haven't watched the Tommy Lee Jones commercials for Asia they are HYSTERICAL)
The can of the Super Coffee definitely is designed to function as an energy drink. They have a version of those that come in a protein shake like bottle that's supposed to be more normal.
Now do the entire coffee section at whatever your local Asian market is! I always get paralized by choice at those places, but they have a TON of varieties.
Man, the jazzy Happy Birthday variations in the background (it's really noticeable around 16:30 or so) are a bit distracting. Good to know there are some decent canned nitro coffees though. I don't have coffee shops where I live, too rural, and that's one I can't really do at home otherwise so it's nice to have an option that does exist.
First off... love your channel. This is a great video!! I'd love your opinion on the Blue Bottle canned cold brew! My husband/friends also love the canned La Colombe cold brew but I find it flat, so curious to know your opinion on that too. I've always thought Califia was okay. For a mass produced product that's widely available and relatively cheap, it's a little better than you'd expect. Nothing amazing, but definitely one of the best options in it's price range.
Halfway through I wanted to call a time out and I wasnt even the one drinking the coffee! Some of those very last ones in the milk category were disturbing 😂
When I was on an assignment in the DC area, I found the Java monsters in the hospital gift shop, and I was on a Java monster kick for a while. I have since revisited them and really wondered why.
The boss coffee is missing.😭😭 It's very common here in Australia, it's advertised as Japanese coffee, although I never saw a single can in Japan anywhere. But it's delicious
spotted a couple of the highest ranking drinks at the store after watching this, and was briefly tempted... then quickly realized that, at least in my neck of the woods, you can get a real cafe drink for that price instead. so i went and did that. 😂 La Colombe, by contrast, might be super sweet, but it's not bad and at least it's cheap!
We drink Costco cold brew cans. I have had a few of the nitro you had on here. I want a decent coffee without sugar. Occasionally, I would like one with almond milk.
If you can find it, though it's only offered in Japan, that I know of, Georgia coffee is amazing. It's slightly sweet, a little creamy, and very delicious.
My favorite canned coffee is 100% the Starbucks double shot. It used to be the triple shot until they changed it. It’s super thick and creamy, more of a special caffeinated treat. I’m not a fan of other canned coffees, but then again, I’m not a coffee connoisseur.

I had a Java monster on the way to work from a vending machine because I didn't want to drink straight up energy drink and it was definitely the most interesting canned coffee I've experienced, a somewhat electric and zesty coffee that I wouldn't voluntarily drink it again though lol.
Cool video. If you have an Asian supermarket in your area, you might look there, canned coffee is really big in Japan and they have a lot of varieties. I enjoyed some of the ones i had there.
I know what you mean about Dunkin’s. I grew up (I’m old) with at least two Dunkin’s in Salem, Oregon which disappeared a couple decades ago. One is a Super Phô and the other is a donut, frozen yogurt mart. I do get a little frustrated by the commercials and UA-cam reviews since they’re none near. T-mobile even had a “T-mobile Tuesday” special for months with a Dunkin’s discount.
I have tried all of these, except for the energy drink one in the middle. For me, only ones worth anything is the stumptown and the alkaline one in the glass bottle. Hot and flash chill, no thank you. Keeps too much of the acid in the coffee. And realizing we have different tastes entirely in coffee. I also like coffees that don’t give me heartburn. The reason the calico farms with almond milk gives thick whole milk vibes is because of all the carrageenan, guar gums and other thickeners I don’t like. They add it to all their stuff. And you are supposed to pour the stumptown hard. Has a much better head than the Starbucks. Kinda if you know nitro you know to always pour hard.

You can get a non sweetened version if you ever go to their coffee shops, and it’s really good! I agree they should sell a canned version
This is my go to when I’m traveling but their boxed gallon of cold brew is in my home
And office fridge and my day to day coffee.

pretty sure with the mean bean its the taurine in it that causes that wierd taste like most energy drinks it is just very bitter

They're not as sickly sweet as some of the big coffee chain ones but they're still a sweet and light feeling. I practically lived on their triple shot lattes when I ran a sailing program for a couple summers
While these videos are fantastic and I will watch every single one (in part because I neither enjoy coffee nor can physically tolerate the levels of caffeine in a cup of black tea, much less coffee), it might not be a terrible idea to film these over more than one day? It's such a fun series, but it's getting a little worrying.

I love your testing and ranking videos! I was a little sad not to see the starbucks espresso & cream there. That was a staple for me in school, its only ingredients are espresso, milk, cream, and sugar. I found it just the right amount of sweet and satisfyingly creamy since it has the real cream in it. However considering the staggering amount you tasted I'm not surprised some things didn't make it!

If you ever come to Europe, specifically Switzerland and the surrounding countries, you simply must try the „Emmi Caffe Latte“ products. Emmi is a swiss dairy producer and those drinks are chilled coffee drinks, mostly with milk but vegan options are available too! (Also store brand alternatives in pretty much every grocery store here)
These drinks have an absolute chokehold on swiss commuters wanting a somewhat cheaper refreshing cold latte experience ☺️
13:36 On that, one of my biggest food pet peeves is vanilla flavored things that aren't actually vanilla flavored. 99% of the time vanilla just means "very very sweet", and there's no actual vanilla flavor. As someone that actually really likes the flavor of vanilla, it drives me insane.

On another note, I'm jealous of all the lactose-free/alternative milk options for iced coffee there! I hardly see any in my specific area of England, and when I do it's often not the right milk/coffee pairing. That slate mocha seems like my thing, as I've enjoyed soft drinks with stevia (I miss Coca-Cola Life, haha)
I remember trying the Sbux nitro cold brew 5 years ago, during my first quarter of undergrad:
They had a truck outside the university building I had a class in, and my friend Riley (who I met in that class) and I both got a free branded lil glass before heading in. I tried it before class began and didn't like it due to the bitterness, but Riley didn't try his till partway thru the lecture...immediately recoiling and making a face in displeasure. After class, we went to the nearby buffet-style commons, and he added whatever ingredient(s) that finally made it "tolerable."
It's definitely not my preferred way to drink coffee, but canned cold brew is always super convenient. Also, idk what is is about the plain Stumptown cold brew but it always gives me enough energy to fight the sun - sometimes I can't even finish it
I think its probably very local but my favorite is Dark Matter Coffee out of Chicago, they have a rotating menu of flavors for their canned coffees. If they aren't available Stumptown is always really solid.

On the Monster Java thing; one evening with some friends, on a dare, I agreed to try a Java Gonster (It's half a glass of monster with a half glass Guinness float), and it weirdly really improved it.
Like, don't get me wrong-it wasn't amazing, like a solid 6 out of ten. But way less heinous than I expected, and okay enough that if someone was already making them (for some godforsaken reason), I might not turn it down if offered it.
I think the comparative bitterness of the stout just really helps cut the sweetness of the Java monster, and they weirdly work.
Though don't drink more than 3 gonsters in an evening, unless you want to feel BAD.
Also, there are some really solid Japanese canned coffee drinks, and if you're into doing more of these, seeing some of those could be fun!

OH MY, you should try Indonesian RTD Coffee, none of them RTD Coffee is a plain black coffee, NONE, but all of em is pretty much liquid sugar creamer with a lil bit of instant reconstituted coffee (yes its not pure coffee), like 0.6 to 1.6% of the ingredients is them instant reconstituted coffee, even the said "Black Coffee" is pretty much Water, Sugar, 1.0% ish IR Coffee, and food coloring (along with a puck of preservatives). the lowest sugar used in the RTD Coffee is about 9g of sugar in a 180ml of serving, and most of them are in Plastic bottles

You really should have tossed in some of the Asian canned products. Sorta curious as to how those match with your palate. (if you haven't watched the Tommy Lee Jones commercials for Asia they are HYSTERICAL)
Alot of the milk ones suggest a gentle shake before opening. It does make a difference.
There are a ton kf RTD canned coffees at various Asian supermarkets that would make a fun video! Suntory, Boss, UCC, Lee's, Mr. Brown, POKKA, etc
I tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch & Reeses coffee cans recently, they (especially the CTC) were so good!
I would love to see Morgan taste test all the asian canned/bottled coffee she can find from her local asian grocery stores. ☕️
The can of the Super Coffee definitely is designed to function as an energy drink. They have a version of those that come in a protein shake like bottle that's supposed to be more normal.
Now do the entire coffee section at whatever your local Asian market is! I always get paralized by choice at those places, but they have a TON of varieties.
Even trying all of those drinks was incredibly brave!
Man, the jazzy Happy Birthday variations in the background (it's really noticeable around 16:30 or so) are a bit distracting.
Good to know there are some decent canned nitro coffees though. I don't have coffee shops where I live, too rural, and that's one I can't really do at home otherwise so it's nice to have an option that does exist.
First off... love your channel. This is a great video!! I'd love your opinion on the Blue Bottle canned cold brew! My husband/friends also love the canned La Colombe cold brew but I find it flat, so curious to know your opinion on that too. I am not a fan of coffee + milk beverages but having high quality cold brews on grocery store shelves has been a game changer!
The dunkins bottles are my favorite. However, yes, they are very sweet. I tend to mix with heavy ice and drink slowly throughout the day.
But it's a noo on dunkin cans!

Hello Morgan, I would really really like a sequel to this for japanese/taiwanese/vietnamese canned coffees found at most asian grocers. They have been doing good canned coffee for decades and I really feel like you’re missing out. I've always thought Califia was okay. For a mass produced product that's widely available and relatively cheap, it's a little better than you'd expect. Nothing amazing, but definitely one of the best options in it's price range.
Halfway through I wanted to call a time out and I wasnt even the one drinking the coffee! Some of those very last ones in the milk category were disturbing 😂
Every canned coffee has this washed out canned coffee flavour, the monster ones kind of cut through it like you said which makes it taste brighter
When I was on an assignment in the DC area, I found the Java monsters in the hospital gift shop, and I was on a Java monster kick for a while. I have since revisited them and really wondered why.
The boss coffee is missing.😭😭 It's very common here in Australia, it's advertised as Japanese coffee, although I never saw a single can in Japan anywhere. But it's delicious
spotted a couple of the highest ranking drinks at the store after watching this, and was briefly tempted... then quickly realized that, at least in my neck of the woods, you can get a real cafe drink for that price instead. so i went and did that. 😂
La Colombe, by contrast, might be super sweet, but it's not bad and at least it's cheap!

We drink Costco cold brew cans. I have had a few of the nitro you had on here. I want a decent coffee without sugar. Occasionally, I would like one with almond milk.

If you can find it, though it's only offered in Japan, that I know of, Georgia coffee is amazing. It's slightly sweet, a little creamy, and very delicious.

My favorite canned coffee is 100% the Starbucks double shot. It used to be the triple shot until they changed it. It’s super thick and creamy, more of a special caffeinated treat. I’m not a fan of other canned coffees, but then again, I’m not a coffee connoisseur.
The monster one tastes like a sad watered down & flavorless version of the Starbucks one tbh. Not a fan.

I had a Java monster on the way to work from a vending machine because I didn't want to drink straight up energy drink and it was definitely the most interesting canned coffee I've experienced, a somewhat electric and zesty coffee that I wouldn't voluntarily drink it again though lol.

Cool video. If you have an Asian supermarket in your area, you might look there, canned coffee is really big in Japan and they have a lot of varieties. I enjoyed some of the ones i had there.
I know what you mean about Dunkin’s. I grew up (I’m old) with at least two Dunkin’s in Salem, Oregon which disappeared a couple decades ago. One is a Super Phô and the other is a donut, frozen yogurt mart. I do get a little frustrated by the commercials and UA-cam reviews since they’re none near. T-mobile even had a “T-mobile Tuesday” special for months with a Dunkin’s discount.

I have tried all of these, except for the energy drink one in the middle. For me, only ones worth anything is the stumptown and the alkaline one in the glass bottle. Hot and flash chill, no thank you. Keeps too much of the acid in the coffee. And realizing we have different tastes entirely in coffee. I also like coffees that don’t give me heartburn. The reason the calico farms with almond milk gives thick whole milk vibes is because of all the carrageenan, guar gums and other thickeners I don’t like. They add it to all their stuff. And you are supposed to pour the stumptown hard. Has a much better head than the Starbucks. Kinda if you know nitro you know to always pour hard.
