There's mixed evidence on that. Too much nitrogen can actually damage plants - an overload can inhibit plant growth. And also unlike what the guy in the video said, coffee grounds aren't actually that acidic. The problem is the leftover caffeine in them is actually bad for plant growth. Plants with caffeine evolved that way to inhibit other plants from growing nearby.
@@sarahburkinshaw8307 Ok, that's fair enough. Too much of anything really, just like people. My soil I grow a lot most of the year, so that nitrogen gets used up, so much so that I even plant a lot of beans and cycle them each year because legumes add nitrogen to the soil as well.

So you grow a sword out of your flesh and it becomes an extension with properties of metal, but looks like mycelium. Happy to see those creative, dedicated, and wholesome people. I hope nothing bad happens to them once they grow their businesses as it now happens to those promoting renewable energy. I'm always skeptical of these green companies, but if they _really can_ provide an alternative for considerably less money, *that* is what will trigger widespread adoption. The real world works on what is easiest and cheapest. Not on what is morally best. If you manage to get both at the same time however, _that_ is what makes progress.
In the last 50 years, we have seen the influence that educated consumers have had in the, ahem, growth of organically grown foods. More people recognize the improved taste and how they feel, and this growth in demand has led to growth in supply for what previously was very niche and considered something like 'silly' because it was associated with progressive leftists (i.e. hippies and such).
Yeah , people just blame government and other company for not supported this company They forget if something cheap and easy and give a lot of profit people Will do the same thing
I recently wrote a story about an advanced civilization that created a fungus to replace concrete and eventually that fungus covered so much of the planet and was conducive it became sentient and watched as it was to late for its creators and they died to over population and pollution, but a human ended up vising the planet and befriending the fungi, that had eventually spread and turned into the entire planet. It was a really fun story and this video gives me goosebumps thinking about it.
@@thatsaweirdbug XP I might work on a game/book haha been thinking about it more and more. Ill try to remember to post it here if something ever happens haha.
If we're on the topic of fictional stories involving sentient fungi there's a BL sci-fi book called Little Mushroom: Judgement Day written by a Chinese author about an Earth whose magnetic poles vanished and everything ended up mutating. Fast-forward 100 years, Earth has become hostile and humanity is on its last legs. The story follows a little mushroom who consumed the body of a human and gained the ability to mutate into one and ventures into a human establishment trying to find his spore. Way smarter than me on several topics but an amusing read nonetheless given the title.

using fungi as a replacement for packaging and leather materials. It's the same principle as building buildings on farmland and then trying vertical farming
The coffin idea is the best one. The old way of doing burials is soooo bad for the planet. We pump the dead body with Tons of chemicals to STOP it from decomposing , then we put clothes and jewelry and other stuff that takes forever to break down inside of a wooden box that is covered in chemicals to Stop it from decomposing , and we do that millions of times, and it’s soooo bad for the planet …. Plus , who wouldn’t want their body to break down and feed new plants and animals !?!? That’s the circle of life! I would LOVE my body to nourish other creatures and beings once I’m done with it.

Coffee grounds are great for lots of stuff. I mix my leftover grounds into my potting soil and also use them to re-brew coffee a few times over to mix with my regular water for my plants. They love the extra nitrogen.

I have been an Environmentalist for at least 50 yrs. I've done speeches on the necessity of the rainforest, my children learned young the importance of recycling, I live my life by Reduce Reuse Recycle..... The huge problem is the same now as it was 50 yrs ago, humans apathy and complacency; humans believe they are separate from their environment and people don't believe in the importance of taking care of their home. Even when we finally destroy ourselves, humans won't acknowledge responsibility; they'll just blame our destruction on their God.
As someone who’s not a vegan or vegetarian I’m less fascinated by the application of fungal than the potential plastic replacement, packaging replacement, and green burials but some mushrooms are truly special for their effects on the human body nutrition aside, but I absolutely love the idea of so many of these seemingly complex issues being resolved by something that’s so seemingly simple
I can recommend you to where I get my stuff from an online store his got his got Shrooms, psychedelics, alongside other products well Refined ships to anywhere discreetly.
its great that people are finding uses for mushrooms, but considering that supply is going down atm due to labour shortages and harvesting being so labour intensive idk its abit tricky
The only way companies will start replacing all their plastic packaging with mushrooms, if they owned the mushroom farm and process. I had a boss who was all about profits, about about a year working for him I crunched some numbers and realized our customers have a high chance of getting damaged product from our current shipping process, but he kept the packaging, he refused to change because redesigning packaging would be expensive. Until I gave him the numbers he would lose if he didn't change, customer acquisition, damaged returns and retaining customers. He changed the next day.
The UK company Quorn has been producing meat substitutes from fungi for over 30 years now, they are pretty wide spread as far as I have seen. It's just a different technique, I think the fungal protein is produced in bioreactors
It's impressive how much can be recycled and substituted with mycelium! Not only does it give out alternatives to plastic and meat, it can even compost pretty much anything organic!
I love seeing these videos from you guys! Please keep researching and creating this kind of content to spread the word about this important work that is reshaping our societies way of thinking for a green future ♡
Mushrooms are animal btw, they dont grows their own sugar. They do not photosynthesis. They hail from animal kingdom species wise. They just efficient at using resources compared to other animals🤑🤑🤑
That's all great stuff you got going on there 👍, that said, a....note on the casket issue? ie: the slow uptake issue, perhaps growing some sort of closure mechanism, straps or something, bc, like I'm not even precious about dying, or grossness of the circle of life, but still, the open, ill-fitted, unsecured casket top.... I mean, that's just not going to appeal to a whole lot of people, on multiple levels. The Simple vanity for the most part, or, the chance of falling out in the process of the funeral in an unfortunate misstep of a Pallbearer? Let's be honest was my first thought. Anyway, great, excited to try the 🥓!
I just can't see the advantage of a mycelium casket over an untreated wooden one. It might degrade faster, but it's also more fragile and probably more resource intensive as well (because you'd need thick walls). Not to mention the price
@@trygveevensen171 yes, but like anything, the more people adopt to purchasing it the cheaper it becomes to produce based on scale l Idk, I'm partial to cremation myself, but that's apparently an incredibly energy intensive process, so, sigh... idk... straight "Dust to Dust..." as in, just our plain selves, into a hole with a shroud cover. ? Sounds about right actually.
I'm just glad they no longer use horse manure. As a child I got parasites that hurt my liver, from mushrooms in my country that were raised in manure. I still eat mushrooms in small quantities because my liver can't handle certain foods and I cook the f*** out of them to be sure I never get liver parasites again.
Oh I LOVE what they're doing with the mushrooms! These are all wonderful ideas! And I am definitely not a bacon person, as I've tried regular pork bacon and also turkey bacon and can't seem to eat it without feeling nauseous. But I think I would like MyBacon. Bacon made from mushrooms would be delicious!
Turn the bacon thing into chips. Like fries. Im sure they will sell well as a high protein alternative to potato fries. Seasoned well with Cajun and served with garlic sauce. Mmmmmm
I think its a good idea to spread more ideas regarding sustainability. And also mushrooms are just cool. An action figure made out of mushroom plastics would be pretty cool.
Great video! I work in the waste management industry, and I love everything I saw. 'Nature's recyclers' is perfect to describe fungi. ❤ I look forward to more videos on sustainable waste management!
Very nice concepts! My concern is what testing has been done on these mushroom byproducts - whether consumed, used for packaging, etc. - to ensure it is safe for consumption and/or long-term environmental safety?
.......it's mushroom? What do you want to test? How is it going to be worse for the environment than tanning animal skin or worse for health than actually carcinogenic animal products?
Replies are flipping out, but here in AUS we're very concerned about invasive species and biocontamination cuz we live on a big island... If Amazon started shipping every package with fungi-based packaging, you'd better believe they'd need to prove it was not a threat to AUS environment - like cardboard.
1 dollar per pound...for them to make...not how much theyre gonna sell it for. No. it'll be far more expensive. honestly i LOVE this stuff but for some reason biggest companies dont adopt & it's like i always hear about it but never see these things in the wild.
I`m into Home beer brewing and get a lot of malt waste. I wondered if i could grow mushroom on that so now I am trying to grow some oyster mushrooms on it.
Good! You would enjoy a talk by Paul Stametz. In rich soil, there is 8 miles of mycelium. It is like the earth's internet. It will direct nutrients to the tree that needs it. Mycelium sends information in both directions. Plant oyster mushrooms in the water run off from the stock yards, and in 24 hours, all the e-coli is gone. Oh, so much more!
Mushrooms would not be for me to eat because of allergies... And traumatic stuff in my kindergarten age 😂 But most important I think is the packaging I would like to see this more often
Every single mushroom species is different and you could be critically allergic to the common button/portabella mushroom but able to eat literally every other species. FYI. If you can you should be able to obtain different species and rub them on your skin and then if you don't react onto the edge of your nostrils to test how you react if its that kind of allergy.
I’m a little confused because you guys said it was one dollar per pound to grow the Mushrooms but The market price for pork bacon is seven dollars a pound. That sounds like they both cost the same
*I’ll refer you to this online store I bought some grams of NN DMT mushrooms lean Lsd Adderal chocolate bars Xanax and other psychedelic stuffs and he also ship discreetly to any location**

This world wide waste series gives me so much hope. Please continue 👍🏽
Coffee grounds are great for lots of stuff. I mix my leftover grounds into my potting soil and also use them to re-brew coffee a few times over to mix with my regular water for my plants. They love the extra nitrogen.
mushrooms may taste good but they arent bacon
There actually are mushrooms that literally taste like meat! It's absolutely fascinating.
@@tinkrtailr but it still isnt bacon, good luck cooking a steak in mushroom fat
Such Brilliant innovations. Am totally mind blown by these amazing innovatiness from mushrooms and fungi.
Fungi are so interesting and under appreciated, I hate their flavor, but man they are incredible for multiple purposes

Any better alternative can replace former "not so eco friendly" products
But can you match the cost or even be lower than the competition 🤔
As someone who’s not a vegan or vegetarian I’m less fascinated by the application of fungal than the potential plastic replacement, packaging replacement, and green burials but some mushrooms are truly special for their effects on the human body nutrition aside, but I absolutely love the idea of so many of these seemingly complex issues being resolved by something that’s so seemingly simple
I can recommend you to where I get my stuff from an online store his got his got Shrooms, psychedelics, alongside other products well Refined ships to anywhere discreetly.
He's on Instagrams also on Telegram with the below handle as...
Mycopete..
We need the Dark Souls Mushroom People to replace humans.
That would be horrifying
Save the 🐖 you know who needs more virgins 100 per soul
They'll instakill you with one punch.
Stop playing games man.
This kind of thinking is not good man, not anyway, not for your mind.

Hope that most businesses see the potential of these
I hope the styrofoam replacement takes hold sooner then later. It can't be recycled easily (from what I know).
its great that people are finding uses for mushrooms, but considering that supply is going down atm due to labour shortages and harvesting being so labour intensive
idk its abit tricky
Kudos to these companies and looking forward for more in the future 💖👌
It's impressive how much can be recycled and substituted with mycelium! Not only does it give out alternatives to plastic and meat, it can even compost pretty much anything organic!
Psilocybin trips happen to be some of the greatest experiences of my entire life
shrooms saved my life and took me to a whole new level
Several types of research has proven psychedelics as a beneficial substance in terms
Of medical use.
@admin1361 I’ll recommend you to a store I got my psychedelics products dr_xzavier#
His been my supplier for a while now and his good he delivers anonymously
I really enjoy watching these shows so much they r educational too especially when u post these kinds of shows thanks so much for posting these....
I love to see innovation that utilizes nature!!!!
Thanks guys for delivering this !! it is amazing what fungi can do !!
I love seeing these videos from you guys! Please keep researching and creating this kind of content to spread the word about this important work that is reshaping our societies way of thinking for a green future ♡
Mushrooms are amazing when you recognize all the utilities it provides with natural recycling abilities.
As a vegan, this just makes MY soul glow with happiness😄❤😄
Mushrooms are animal btw, they dont grows their own sugar. They do not photosynthesis. They hail from animal kingdom species wise. They just efficient at using resources compared to other animals🤑🤑🤑
The demand for plant based products is going down rapidly.
That's all great stuff you got going on there 👍, that said, a....note on the casket issue? ie: the slow uptake issue, perhaps growing some sort of closure mechanism, straps or something, bc, like I'm not even precious about dying, or grossness of the circle of life, but still, the open,
ill-fitted, unsecured casket top....
@@trygveevensen171 yes, but like anything, the more people adopt to purchasing it the cheaper it becomes to produce based on scale l
Idk, I'm partial to cremation myself, but that's apparently an incredibly energy intensive process, so, sigh... idk... straight "Dust to Dust..." as in, just our plain selves, into a hole with a shroud cover. ? Sounds about right actually.
I tried mushroom meat forever ago and just couldn't understand why it's not extremely popular, had it as a burger and it was greasy and delicious
Excellent video! Happy to see someone talk about mushroom benefits outside of psilocybin. They’re extremely versatile! And tasty 😄
Recycling Coffee ground is a wonderful🥰. I wish for recycle other waste
Oh I LOVE what they're doing with the mushrooms! These are all wonderful ideas! And I am definitely not a bacon person, as I've tried regular pork bacon and also turkey bacon and can't seem to eat it without feeling nauseous. But I think I would like MyBacon. Bacon made from mushrooms would be delicious!
coffee in belgium never goes to the landfill. It's used to make compost in the worst case.
this is amazing. cant wait to see what this becomes in the future 💥
Turn the bacon thing into chips. Like fries. Im sure they will sell well as a high protein alternative to potato fries.
Seasoned well with Cajun and served with garlic sauce. Mmmmmm
So informative. I learn a lot from this show. Thank you!
Amazing. I want this for when I die
I think its a good idea to spread more ideas regarding sustainability. And also mushrooms are just cool.
An action figure made out of mushroom plastics would be pretty cool.
I like what the folks at loop are doing
Great video! I work in the waste management industry, and I love everything I saw. 'Nature's recyclers' is perfect to describe fungi. ❤ I look forward to more videos on sustainable waste management!
Mushroom bacon looks delicious and way more appetizing than BUG BACON! I could get on board with this .
Why would you test mushrooms lmfao
Better than plastic either way
they- they're mushrooms?? what environmental safety concerns do you even have with mushrooms??
Replies are flipping out, but here in AUS we're very concerned about invasive species and biocontamination cuz we live on a big island... If Amazon started shipping every package with fungi-based packaging, you'd better believe they'd need to prove it was not a threat to AUS environment - like cardboard.
Fungus is the future.
Great video that helps people understand what mycelium is.
Would be nice to have a video about celulose/paper substituting plastic!

1 dollar per pound...for them to make...not how much theyre gonna sell it for. No. it'll be far more expensive. honestly i LOVE this stuff but for some reason biggest companies dont adopt & it's like i always hear about it but never see these things in the wild.
Not to mention the magic mushrooms that can help with severe PTSD and depression.
I`m into Home beer brewing and get a lot of malt waste. I wondered if i could grow mushroom on that so now I am trying to grow some oyster mushrooms on it.
Such a brilliant documentry. I love your channel. We Indians also wanna invent such cool and sustainable solutions.
I love they many ways mushrooms being innovated into multiple things and help save the environment
Would love too see more videos on mushrooms!
So I should invest in mushrooms... Cool
Mushrooms would not be for me to eat because of allergies...
And traumatic stuff in my kindergarten age 😂
But most important I think is the packaging
I would like to see this more often
Every single mushroom species is different and you could be critically allergic to the common button/portabella mushroom but able to eat literally every other species. FYI. If you can you should be able to obtain different species and rub them on your skin and then if you don't react onto the edge of your nostrils to test how you react if its that kind of allergy.
I’m a little confused because you guys said it was one dollar per pound to grow the Mushrooms but The market price for pork bacon is seven dollars a pound. That sounds like they both cost the same
I just had to add this, "With all this mushroom going, I'm convince that The Last of Us world is upon us".

I like how Insider Business focuses on the money and the water waste during bacon production, totally ignoring the pain that living creatures suffer in that process. Yeah totally not important at all.
These are amazing ideas! Proud of all of these businesses!
