Loved the epic intro. Learning from you something about attention to detail for sure. All my life my career path led me to the best way to get things done as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality so this is kind of an awakening to see the joy of taking my time to enjoy the process of it. I find that remarkable actually. I wonder why I never gave that much thought until I saw how you work. I have just smashed my way through all of my tasks as quickly as possible its all i ever knew. Remarkable man you are Jay, I respect and admire you for it. Glad to know you even if just through your videos.
Totally awesome comment matey thank you very much. Very kind of you to say so. I completely relate to what you are saying also. I worked in the trade for many years a long time ago and it was all about bonus and doing it fast. No pride or standard of work. It got so bad I had to get out so I completely re traded. Now I can final try and enjoy what I do and make a nice job if my skills allow. Glad to hear you are going to benefit from this also. 👌👌🙏
Another great video Jay, I had the same issue with the offset driver seat when I fitted my Range Rover Evoque seats, I modified the swivel base and welded extra plates on, bolted it all in and was 60mm off centre, luckily I hadn’t done the passenger seat so just swapped the swivel base to there, then allowed for the offset on the driver seat swivel base before welding the plates on
Just an idea about the bolt for the back of the drivers seat. You mentioned it being difficult to access and you were going to have to do some panel beating to make the nut accessible. Could you weld a nut to the underside of the plate, that way you won’t need to access it to tighten so only the bolt from above will need tightening. Hope you understand what I mean. Like the idea of that safe and just as I was think about a velcro panel to hide it you came out with the same idea 🤣👍. Looks like those seats will make a big difference.
Thanks matey. Yeah that’s a great idea with the welding but it’s actually the head of the bolts that cause the issue as they foul the base. I could move the plate over but the closer to the base they are the stronger I believe them to be. I found a solution In the end. I’m going to use mushroom shallow Allen key headed bolts which sit in between the base and plate and don’t touch. But I only had one at home 😂. Thanks so much for the comment though. Very much appreciated
Eyeing up this job myself, is there any chance you would consider taking this on? I have the seats and single passenger base ready just need the mounts if you would be happy to help? Cheers Josh
Another clear and easy to watch video .... slightly off topic , could you advise what mpg you get as a daily driver, and which size engine do you have ? Not sure which one to invest in !!
Thanks David. Mine is a 1.9 the older engine. Me personally I prefer this engine but that’s me. Mpg I’m not sure to be honest I think it was around 30 maybe but don’t quote me on that as I have not drop it in like 7 months now. I would guess a newer engine definitely will have better mpg. Mine has been mapped etc so not the best example and I’m trying to buy a cat and stuff to put back on.
Jay Saunders ...... thanks for your reply , appreciated. I had thought the 1.9 PD engine with a mild map to 130/140 ish would be a good choice ... If my budget runs to a 2.0 TDi that has the added bonus of a 6 speed box !! Not sure if the 1.9 engine has a 6 speed available.. or if the later box would fit ? Any thoughts on that ? Keep the videos coming ...👍🏻
No problem David. To be honest I couldn’t comment on the 6 speed fitting or not I would know. Would definitely be better on the motorway etc though with 6 gears. But I do think the 2 litres have some engine problems though but then what doesn’t I suppose. I like the 1.9 but they are an older van now and normally higher mileage. I definitely wouldn’t get a 2.5 in my opinion
Hiya jay been wait for this omg definatly looking good not only you doing your camper van your decorating as well your busy man 👨 are you going do any decoration vlogs as well hope your keepin well and safe x
Jay seats look f smart, iv got leather r lines on mine I’m itching to get single bucket seats! Where’s the shots of the front view? Keep up the great work👍
Hi mate, would you be interested in doing the same for me on my passenger seat? I’m from Walsall, could travel to you. VW specialist has said it’s not possible 🙄
You can ask yes. Well I’ve not been in a rush to finish it or build it. I’m just taking my time and enjoying it. I’ve been away with work for a long time to which the van sat off the road. Now due to lock down I’m waiting on parts etc to be able to move forward from this point. But I have other projects and things I’m working on also so it’s not all the van.
Fair enough just I’m digging the work and want to see more hahaha. I see in the back ground a few Vauxhall’s nocking about. I also have a t5 I like how detailed you get so it gives me a idea of how to do things 🤙
No problem matey. Yeah I have a lot going on behind the scenes to be honest. But shouldn’t be long now I’ll be doing the rear carpets and floor then things will move quiet quickly after that

Thank you matey. Aw awesome glad you found a solution to rectify it and didn’t just drive with it off centre. Great work 👌

Hey Mark. Thank you mate very much appreciated. Yeah I’m happy with them to be honest. What you mean as in the front of the van?
Hi mate, would you be interested in doing the same for me on my passenger seat? I’m from Walsall, could travel to you. VW specialist has said it’s not possible 🙄
Hey mate. Yeah I could do these for you. Add me on social media and drop me a message
Can I ask why it’s taken so long to get to this point of the build. Just some of the videos are months old and the van looks the same
You can ask yes. Well
