  • RED WHITE and BLUES "The Early Years" Track 1 - Goin Down to Mary's.
The Red White and Blues band came out of Rochester N.Y. I believe around the late 60's early 70's. This was one of my Dads (Earl "SLUG" Jetty) first projects, I believe this band was his brainchild. This is a live board recording I got from one of My Dads friends/fans who attended many of these shows back in the day. The CD is Titled "RED WHITE and BLUES -The Early Years" Has 9 songs and says "Flicker Rec." Recordings of this band are very rare! Please comment if you have more info on this band (like line up) for me so I can update it. Enjoy!

These guys played at our 9th grade Orientation dance. Loved them. Later I was given a CD of their music by Bill Thompson who did their live sound. I was blown away at how good they sounded and how they stood the test of time. They were so good at changing the tempo and feel as one unit.

In 1970 or '71 my friends and I, who attended McQuaid High School, told our parents we were heading to a basketball game. Instead, we drove to the U of R campus and saw a concert by this band in the college gymnasium. It was great! I was into John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and the Original Fleetwood Mac(w/Peter Green). Dorky high schoolers feeling cool!

Hey Josh, Boy this took a lot of work - setting up an account, etc. - but I wanted to respond to your posting. I loved your Dad's bands, ESPECIALLY Red, White and Blues Band. Unless my memory fails me, he was the drummer for them and Duke Jupiter, and your mother, Bonnie, was the sister of my best friend at the time: Jim Mangene. We met at MCC where we were both studying Poly Sci. The last time I saw Jim he was looking for me and my girlfriend to join him and Melanie English in Canada (or Vermont) to make bread. And your Mom joined "Bally's Fitness" way back in the 70's when I was working there, etc. How are all of you doing? I haven';t seen you since you were a little baby a million years ago. I knew your parents slightly, from visiting with Jim. We followed the band everywhere and I was just asking a friend a couple weeks ago why the CD that his brother gave me of RW&B songs didn't work...Then it occurred to me today to check UA-cam, and there you are!! Do you live in New York? Are you selling copies of the old songs? Do you have any video of the band in action? Well, my number is (585) 301-1089, if the answer to any of these questions is a "Yes" and/or you want to get in touch. Peter Meinhold, Rochester, New York

+Peter Meinhold Hey Peter, sorry about the tardy relpy. Jim is still doing good actually..so is My mom Bonnie. No I've still never seen my Dad other than photographs, I'd love to get some live footage of him. I have not sold and copies of anything but I do have a record label interested in putting this session out on CD and vinyl possibly. I'm still looking for info on the band to complete the release (lineup/band story etc.) Wish I had more photos too. I'm in Jacksonville Fl now. Mom moved out of N.Y. when I was 2 and we never went back. Raised up young in southern Cali then mover to FL at 12 or 13 yrs old.

Were these guys an all deserter(Vietnam) rock group? They sound great.

Otto Greenleaf not sure what you mean... I do know being drafted and going to nam pretty much ruined my (drummer) Dad's life and helped lead to his premature death. wish he was a deserter.

Yo, The JoshMaggot: Hi. Just finished reading Lawrence M. Baskir & William Strauss' Vietnam book "Change And Circumstance". In it they wrote Red White & Blues were an "all deserter rock group".
