A dj from a rock station in Los Angeles that has never heard of these ladies!?!?!? Where has he been!!
⚡️THE WARNING⚡️
Un the US
Not sure about the west coast of the U.S. radio markets, but here on the eastern side of the U.S., I have yet to here any of The Warning songs played on the radio on any of the rock stations out of the Atlanta metro, Washington D.C. metro, or Dallas Fort-Worth metro areas. Most of the exposure to The Warning in the U.S. has been from reactors and then people going to see them live in concert at shows. Edit: You just don't hear a lot of new rock or metal on the radio around here. It's either classic rock from the 60's and 70's or stuff from the 80's and 90's. About the only new music being played on radio is the country pop stuff.
I agree! LA radio is supposed to be on the cutting edge. KROQ used to be like that but don't know where this guy is now. Whenever I hear someone say they want a radio edit I cringe...
The Warning's song Sick has been on regular play here in Baltimore on 98 Rock. The song is also #8 on the Billboard Rock top 10.
Like here in Brazil. The rádios call like rock radios are a shit programming. Never heard here. The DJ look own your nose. Ignore all things bottom the south border…,
I was waiting for Joel to tell his buddy that they are on tour in Japan. Bands don't need radio anymore to reach an audience or make money!!
They're in Australia now, but they probably weren't in Japan when this was recorded.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu They haven't gone to Australia yet.
@@SDsailor7 Yeah, I think I was thinking of Rolling Quartz
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu But they will, they need to warn Australia and Brazil
I've never heard anyone say a The Warning song is too long lol. Biggest reaction is always "TOO SHORT"
I don't think Disciple is that long of a song... this live version is about a minute longer that the album and video version which is just 3 minutes and 39 seconds, but anything longer than about 3 and a half minutes is considered "long" as far as people that work radio are concerned, LOL. Spencer is just analyzing coming from his experience in radio, but he seemed to like the song, though, as he was willing to go with a 2nd song.
@@bobmiller6870 You have to understand that radio friendly songs today are two and a half minute.
Personally I am an oldie, I can listen to an 11 minutes song, if it is good.
@@rolandkarlsson7072 I hear you Roland... which is probably why I don't listen to the radio all the much in the last 10 years. I'm the same way. If it is a good song, I don't care how long it is.
@@rolandkarlsson7072 So - a short song ;-). Try Echos by Pink Floyd. It's 1 side of an LP - 24 minutes!
Pau is running the computer with some backing tracks and all sorts of doubling and sounds along with playing the drums and along with singing. She's amazing!
I can understand his "suspiciously good" comment. I raised an eyebrow too until I delved into their catalog.
There's no 3 piece on the planet that can fill a room with sound better than TW.
The warning is the real deal.. I understand what he feels as being a DJ he has seen a lot of "Cheats" but with these girls they are the real deal, It is all them
But he's not entirely wrong about maybe sounding too full for a 3 piece. They do use some backing tracks for certain songs. I see no issue with that because the backing track is still all them
@@Dr.Acula76 Yep, they use tracks. They also double the guitar and have a feed from the amps that are miced.
Nothing wrong with any of that. It's all them. They are the ones that played everything for the tracks, and they don't try to pretend they don't do any of that stuff. They know they are a 3 piece, and they need to fill the sound to give their fans a good show.
@@tay13666 So basically what I said plus a few more details
@@Dr.Acula76- if recognition is a must… yes. What you said with more detail. Basically agreeing with each other.
Yeah, but he's right that they use a backing track.
The “Superfecta” of Progressive Hard Rock, Hard Rock Trio, Progressive Groove Metal, and Power Metal: Band-Maid, The Warning, Jinjer, and Lovebites -- all pushing their core genres into the next realm! 🤘 🤘 🤘🤘 Thx, Spencer & Joel!
Good reaction. Spot on from his standpoint.
Regarding backing track. They do have backing tracks, but I do not think they have backing track in this performance.
What confuses listeners is Dani's pedal magic with the frequency doubler, delay and chorus stuff that makes her guitar sound almost like three guitars.
And this together with the fantastic mixing of atmosphere and instruments.
BTW you can hear her delayed doubled sound at 4:14, the main guitar dies, but there is something sounding in 1 second.
That's a very long delay and it confuses.
They dig deep in their bag of tricks to get a nice full sound for their shows.
It's smart and a good use of the tools they have available.
Txs, you are my favorites Warning Reactors. Txs for showing that Rock it's not Dead.Love from Mexico.
TW are headed to the top with or without the help of US radio. So far they’re doing it for the most part without that help and that’s corporate radios failure.
Yes they use backing tracks that they played themselves when necessary, but there’s no man behind the curtain.
Unfortunately, The United States market is the holy grail of a bands success....or ultimate failure.
Magic is real, friend, don't doubt it. That's The Warning, the best damn live band.
El rock tremendo de The Warning, su energía y su poder y su calidad se escuchan en Disciple,en vivo no hay nadie como TW
I loved your reaction and the passion you showed for the warning. Great job. Thank you,
Show the DJ one of the many live videos from "THE WARNING CAVE" maybe "Dull Knives" where there is no curtain for other musicians to hide behind. Would love to hear his reaction to the BAND-MAID song HATE - OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO. Thanks Joel for great reactions.
The Warning!! 🔥 🤘
I have seen them live twice and they are incredible. Yes! There are backing tracks that are in some tunes to fill out the sound more, I believe from Pau's computer next to her. But still, their musicianship is awesome enough that they still sound amazing!
And those tracks were made by the girls, wether it was piano, or rhythm guitar, or vocal fills. They want the fans to get a great show, however, if the computer goes down, and it has,....the audience never noticed, because they are that good.
@@randymarple9830 Very true. They have the talent to do with or without. Being to two shows, I was amazed at how fantastic they sounded. And without the computer, it would NOT be a "Falling in Reverse" situation.
It sounds like the band announced today (June 17, 2024) that they will be appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Thursday, June 27.
🤟😁👍⚡⚡⚡
This version is longer than the studio version because of the extended breakdown.
Spencer- your reaction at 2:18 was priceless- you in your expression alone is the gut punch, spinning arm punch that KO-ed all of us Warning fans. Loved it. My God- these wonderful women deserve a Grammy (GRAMMIES plural)! The Global Warning Army needs to kick off Operation Grammy- social media, direct reach-outs, reach out to the ticket promoters, TV, publications, news outlets, retail music distributors, even LinkedIn posts directly to those in leadership roles associated with, affiliated with, supporting the Grammy organization. Pass the word down the lines to all the Warning Army groups!
Thanks Joel! Buen trabajo apoyando a The Warning!
I'm trying to think if this tune uses backing tracks... if so, it's a very light touch. Most of it is their very carefully crafted "wall of sound" they do all the time live, via settings and Dany's doubler.
I did also listen again a couple of times. I hear no backing track. But I do understand his suspicions.
Keep spreading The Warning ;-) Cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina!!!
LMFAO hearing his input and knowing they were on MTV Awards 2023 with Evolve and also on the video for the 1st time used 16 iphones and a drone
Mention how long they have been a band, who they have toured with, and their 50+ catalogue of songs.. to lend to their credibility. I’m glad he agreed to another song or he may not have checked them out again on his own. Thanks Joel!
Yes it's amazing the sound that comes out of this trio!
Pau was just hammering those drums...
👍👍Excellent!! 🖖❤
I think he's a little off with the "suspiciously good" comment. The way this is recorded has a lot to do with the sound quality. When you record off the board then master it and add in a little of what the live ambient mics picked up from the room, a band can sound this good live. That _really is_ Pau's drums, _really is_ Ale's bass, I mean the sound quality. Yes a little backing tracks were used for the vocals, but keep in mind Dany's guitar signal is split into as many as three different guitar sounds at a time, plus effects, split into stereo, etc, sound processing. i.e. when Dany lays her hand across the strings and plucks the muted percussive sound at 2:28, listen to all the echo, it fills up the whole room.
I've seen Rush live a few times, there's a lot of sound crafting going on. The Warning have stated emphatically they are into the sonics of it all, Peter Gabriel live is another example. Spencer says "it _can_ be done" well it _is_ being done here. I don't mean to sound whiny, he's right there is _some_ backing track magic going on but perhaps far less than he thinks.
I really can't blame him. He's been around, and he's seen some things.
Seeing this amazing 3 piece with that kind of sound with no background, I would be suspicious as well. But, as Joel said, he can show many other performances that sound nearly as good.
Thank you Joel 👍🤟
I🖤TW🤘
They use backing tracks for piano and some guitar, to fill out the sound. They don’t hide that.
They all play piano and they do use backing tracks. Pau has the laptop right next to her kit. The nice thing about the internet is WE DON'T NEED CORPORATE RADIO TO TELL US WHAT TO LIKE!
And yes their new songs are better live. Just heard Burnout live. Hated that song until see it live. One of there best songs. No kidding best live band i have seen.
It's NEVER been a secret that they run stems when playing live...
6/27 they are on Jimmy Kimmel.
I love the radio side incite. S!CK is in the top 10 last I checked would be a good one for him.
Just announced they will be on Jimmy Kimmel the 27th I'm curious what song we'll hear on it the day before the album drops.
Edit: probably Six Feet Deep.
They do use backing tracks.
Correct, but only sparingly
🤘🏻⚡️🔥
Dang it Joel........ How Dare you end it like that! 🫠🤌
They are open about their use of backing tracks to augment the live sound. Pau is running Ableton Live on the laptop next to her drum kit. No big deal. They are still playing most of what we’re hearing live.
Radio standards bullcrap is not relevant anymore, bands now plays live shows and are on the internet, radio is so outdated, wake up you guys... A minute too long, let me laugh...
🤘🏼
KROQ took a serious dip in the mid to late 80s. Before he got there. I hope it got better. Haven't heard it since then.
They are performing live on Jimmy Kimmel June 27 at 11:27 pm
Viva The Warning!!! 👑⚡️🔥
100% agree with your assessment of the new material that has been released.....I'm not exactly blown away.
Having said that, we haven't heard the entire album, so there may be some gems yet to hear.
While I understand an artist wanting their music to "mature", and the desire for radio play, The Warning need to understand that 1. Radio play is not the be all/end all it used to be. You don't really need it to be successful. Just ask Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth.....
2. Songs like Disciple and Evolve are what brought the band a ton of new fans like myself. Just good ol' rock n roll.
Go to pretty much any Warning video, and you will see a ton of comments from people like me who grew up on 70s hard rock/80s metal who have gotten solidly on board with The Warning.
I've said this before....every so often a band comes along and gives rock music a much needed kick in the ass. Van Halen, Guns n Roses.....I feel that The Warning could fill that need.
Keep it locked in high gear, and don't worry about radio or trends.
I'm pretty sure what you're hearing is the audio from the sound board... this recording isn't just from a fan phone !!! With all that experience you'd think he'd recognize that, jus sayin!!! WARNING kix Azz!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
If your buddy is looking for Mexican Ska, look no further than Maldita Vecindad playing the song Pachuco. It’s a Mexican alternative rock band from the 80’s & 90’s.
What’s this “radio” you speak of?
P.S. there’s literally a MacBook running Abelton right next to Pau. Who’s trying to hide anything?
FWIW Matt Pinfield has included The Warning on his Sunday night radio show on KLOS recently, and it's because the song (I think it was Sick) is/was in the top 10 of whatever rock chart is used to determine that show's Top 10 countdown. So The Warning should be getting some radio airplay somewhere in the US even if the fans here aren't aware of it.
Actually, I just discovered that the radio wave monitor website can provide a list of US and Canadian radio stations that are playing Sick, if members of TWA want to help give it a push.
Matt Pinfield has interviewed them several times and is a fan of the band. ua-cam.com/video/RMUR48NCnds/v-deo.html
Bro i need that you react the concert in teatro metropolitan all the songs please
Off topic but there have been many Spanish-language ska bands much, much better than Oingo Boingo, like Los Pericos (from Argentina) and King Changó (based in NYC but with ties to Venezuela). And I say that as a onetime fan of Oingo Boingo, dating back to their days as the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.
So Joel, here’s the question for you: The Warning is playing the Bellweather in October. I know it’s in your neck of the woods. Are you going? 🤘🤘🤘
Im hoping its HYCAD you play for him . ..
For some weird reason he chose *Burnout.*
@@TheUnderdogDe😑 Automatic Sun or S!ck would have been way better
I agree with you, Joel, the new album is a type of rock that is more friendly to the pop ear. Like you, I continue to prefer the band's previous sound.
COME ON NOT ALL THE SONGS NOW 🙄 HYCAD IS NOT" AUTOMATIC SUN IS NOT" EVEN "S!CK" AND WELL ERROR WAS RADIO FRIENDLY ALSO BUT IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT ROCK RADIO DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'VE GOT IN ⚡ THE WARNING ⚡ THEY ALL OVER THE US ARE MISSING OUT ON A GREAT NEVER BEEN A BAND LIKE THE WARNING BEFORE, LIKE WE AND NOW REACTORS SAY " ONCE IN A LIFE TIME TYPE OF BAND🤘😝🎤🎸🥁
Outside of listening to a baseball game, I have not heard anything on the Radio for years. Is it still a thing for music?
Yep, Nielsen has the Q1 2024 daily time spent with ad-supported audio among U.S. audiences available from Edison Research. Terrestrial radio is 67% for 18+.
@@BlahBlah_13 okay - For me I am all about that Spotify or just sports radio. Have not used Radio for Music since the 90s. I think.
they use a backing track and never have hidden it mate.
june the 27th just the day before their new album release they'll invited by Jimmy Kimmel!!!!
🔥⚡️🤟⚡️🔥
Corporate radio has lost power over their demands with bands/singers over song length and type. The internet and touring are the modern promotional tools, along with self merchandising. More and more of the money generated in music is staying with those who create it. Next for the chopping block is 'Ticketmaster' etc
Bro! Did you get tix for one of the dates on the upcoming US tour?
Locura!!! Los malditos prejuicios
Agree with the DJ.
How can they be that good?
Are these ladies real?
They are!! It's called talent and hard work!
@@azmookieyep 10 plus years of it
Nice try troll. Go on to your next band
The Warning is the best new rock band in the world. Amyl and the sniffers is the best new punk band in the world and Wet Leg is the best nuwave band in the world and what's weird is there's a lot of chicks in the new good music
What is this Radio they keep talking about?
Orgasmo
Shows how out of touch radio is, dinosaurs of the past.
Suspiciously good, what a poser.
The way this guy pigeon holed and dismissed them shows me exactly why radio is currently unlistenable and dying. 👎
No offense but your dj fan is full of crap. I remember hearing the corporate approved crap he played on KROQ (which hasn't been "rock" since the late 70s). One of the Warning's newest songs, love it or hate it, is in the top 10 in the states. Maybe he needs to get out of his little bubble. They announced today that they will appear on Kimmel on the night before their album release. Not everyone in Los Angeles knows who they are, but if you are "an industry person" you have probably at least heard of a top 10 song....
The big THING about this band is the lyrics! Pure social criticism, how rock started in the first place. The "business" has squeezed that out of the music "industry" until now all that's left in "mainstream" is insipid pop and rap. Interesting to notice how they've had to tone down the criticism since signing with Lava. To get popular in the US you can't be writing songs like 21st cen. blood.😢
American corporate radio at it's finest. This is why fresh, good music won't thrive in the US. Because radio sucks. With all due respect, this guest is a dud. No thanks, next!
Disciple just not my fav by them
Who really listens to radio anymore? Just sayin...
According to Nielsen, in quarter 1 of 2024, radio was 67% of the daily time of ad-supported for 18+ US audiences.
230,576,000 people, ages 12 and up.
This guy's lame
Very astute insights into the type of sound they put forward, possibly their intent, but from "safe" onward he is incorrect and this is due to him not not being familiar with the band. For a band this young, going through stages most bands never experienced, I find this song a progression along the way of their development. I agree, radio friendly songs are not my cup of tea either, but I understand their desire to reach a wider audience especially if the rock world is not being as reception as we think they should be.
Well, he laid out the problems with modern American corporate radio. That is what needs to change. The talent and musicianship has been stifled to long by corporate greed. Music, music & more music please.
It goes back further than that... to the 80's and early 90's, where bands under contractual obligations with record companies were forced to released songs that didn't necessarialy want to as the first singles off their albums on the radio or as a video on MTV... or for that matter, to put songs on their albums. I remember clearly how the band Warrant and Jani Lane fought Columbia and SME over "Cherry Pie" off the band's sophomore LP of the same name... a song that originally wasn't on the album to begin with. But the label would not release the album unless the band put out a "new rock anhem." Lane out of protest wrote it in 15 minutes as a joke and a finger to the execs. Unfortunately, music history knows Warrant as the "Cherry Pie" band from the video and song instead of the band that wanted the album to be called Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was originally the opening track on the record and the song the band wanted to release first.
What radio are you talking about? THE WARNING is touring around the world without the need for radio. They just finished their tour of Japan. Even so, his single SICK is in 8th place on billboard in the USA. “Suspiciously good” are your last guests. The quality has gone down a lot. Greetings Joel.
Bat in the cave.
He needs to play this band ..
