  • I was on the look out for a small electric chainsaw for my workshop. I didn't need a standard petrol one as I only need to cut logs in the workshop occasionally. This electric chainsaw was in Lidl last year, but by the time I got to the shop, they were sold out!
This year I got over to the shop the day they came out and got my hands on one.

Great review my friend, saw these in store today online so shot through to Lidl and was pretty lucky as there were only two left. I do have a petrol chainsaw but wanted something for around the home and something that didn't annoy the neighbours. I've seen some good reviews on these but missed out last time they were in stock so got up early this morning to make the twenty five mile trip to my nearest store and was there just after opening and I'd seen two blokes leaving with one each as I went in so was lucky really.

I have used up the chainsaw bio-oil that came with the chainsaw and am having trouble finding one that is suitable. What oil have other users of this particular chainsaw used? Where can I get it please?

The machine is good, but the after-sales service of Grizzly (Parkside's supplier for this machine) is awful. Many parts are out of stock. As an example, the chain tension rod breaks after a few uses and you have to buy a replacement kit for 20 € (with button, etc.), that cost 1/3 of the price of a new machine! (for a small rod of 13 cm, diameter, 5mm not left, i.e. less than 1 €) but as there is no stock, nor re-supply planned, your machine may only be used a few times until tension rod breaks and then stay for long in your basement…. unless you know how to make it yourself. If so : "hello", otherwise better go away and choose more expensive chainsaw thus far more reliable.

You don't need to wear any protective torso gear, I've just done a 4day training course and we only needed a helmet with visor chainsaw gloves pants and boots, we just had our normal shirts on and so did the instructor

I think I will go for petrol version, this one is a cheap variety, ie you get what you pay for!
