They were a joke - a national disgrace when it came to any game involving Rangers.
Jock Stein used to tell his players that they had to be better than Rangers And the referees - they had to be so much better that there was nothing a referee could do.
Rangers had that advantage for more than 100 years.
When you have counted on 'special treatment' for so long any attempt to impose fairness has to be seen as a threat.
Thats what we have now.
Highly visible incidents which can be replayed from a half dozen angles which the referee (and everyone else) gets to look at and make their decisions about.
