That is what I call a straight forward demo. Just what you really need to hear no messing around trying to show how good you can play. Clean sound, hear all the pick-ups. Thank you for a brilliant demo of the guitar not the player
this is a under rated guitar! These new custom shop Texas specials take this Tele into almost Gibson territory....the mids are there, the twang is too. crank this up and enjoy the hell out of it!
I just bought the same one today but in Sunburst. You can recognize the Telecaster sound and I love it ! The tuning system is much reliable than the one on my Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold but sure it's another school. Thanks mrTurdo1. ;)
Really cool guitars. I’ve a Highway One Tele from 2007 with the jumbo frets. I have another Highway One Tele with rosewood. I’d like a Special with a rosewood board.
Nice review, man. I've been playing Fenders for years, and picked up one of these to play at live shows (not wanting to get my more expensive recording tele all banged up). I absolutely love this guitar. It's now my go-to guitar for live shows and for the studio. I just love its feel, its sound and its responsiveness. It's the best, reasonably-priced American made Fender that I've ever played...and I've played a lot of guitars through the years. A+ Fender!
my influences would be Vince Gill, Buck Owens, Don Rich, Jerry Reed, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and some others but anything with that telecaster twang just sounds soo great! :)
Chris: In fact ASH is a harder wood than Alder. They make baseball bats from ash, too; alder couldn't stand up to that kind of abuse. Fender does a good job of explaining the tonal characteristics of both on their website and one is not better than the other...it's usually a matter of personal preference. Ash does have a grain pattern that lends itself better visually to transparent finishes. Fender typically uses Swamp Ash or Red Alder for the bodies of their better guitars. Nice demo of all the various tones. I recently bought a Blonde Am Special Tele and also love it.
The walnut (or rosewood?) stripe on the back of the neck conceals the truss rod which is installed from the back of the neck - it's installed in a curved slot so that the truss rod pulls the neck back when tightened. Not sure if Fender went to a 'bi-flex' truss rod which can also up-bend the neck if required. I am sure there are folks out there who can comment on that.
The guitar is $799.99 most places. But keep an eye out for bargains and sales. It is a 100% American Made guitar made in Fender's Corona, California factory. the sound is great and is everything you expect from a telecaster. Nice country twang and very loud. Its pretty awesome. I dont know to much bout Keorean Instruments but this is a great quality instrument. Thanks for the comment!
Hi... thanks for the demo! Wondering about those jumbo frets... I know you address them at the beginning of your video, but do you find you have to play with a lighter touch when playing chords to avoid pulling them out of tune... I have a medium heavy touch and I'm worried that I'll have a problem with those big frets... no here to try the guitar around where I live... Your experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for the cool demo...
Mine is the three sunburst, it's a monster guitar! I have both americans and mexicans teles, both play with high standards quality. I'm mexican so maybe for me it's just a matter of taste in my humble opinión American has clearer and brighter tone and mexicans have a darker and fatter tone, depends on the music that you wanna play. For country i prefer americans and for blues mexicans teles. Try them and please give me your feedback.
thanks man! I highly recommend this one! I to have a mexi strat which is awesome! this guitar is super versatile. The telecaster is mainly used for country and blues. Artists such as Keith richards from the rolling stones and many great rock artists use these guitars too. so yes. i would say this can be used for most any music genre but it just does extremely well with country/blues. i am not 100% sure about how it would do with grunge but i think its a great purchase!
Not significantly. You're still dealing with bridge saddles and a nut on the neck that require the strings to be a certain height anyway. You can still get pretty low action on a well setup guitar with big frets. Bends are easier on big frets too- so even if the action is higher, you're still bending easier. That said, Texas Special pickups sounds REALLY good with heavier strings (.11 and up). So you might want a little higher action for bigger strings and more tone.
hi, Just ordered the same guitar on Thanksgiving. I ordered a Paisley 8 hole pick guard. do yo know if all the holes line up except the 2 missing holes around the neck pickup. Im hoping so so i can just drill the 2 holes out because spent about 47 $ on a Paisley pick guard ??
Great review.. Im considering purchasing this bad boy.. But it is my first tele.. Ive got my strat which love but i thought id try something different.. Can this guitar also do blues..rock.. and grunge?
This one is made in the USA. the American Special is a Tele that comes in # tone sunburst, or olympic white. It has jumbo frets and 70's style enlarged headstock logo.. it has Texas Special Tele pickups and has 3 brass saddles in the ash tray vintage style bridge.. and a black three ply pickgaurd. American standard comes in various colors with option of rosewood or maple fretboard.. it comes with a 6 modern style saddle bridge.. both have alder bodies.. and it has Alnico V pickups..
(cont) the bridge on the Amer. Special is the three brass saddles with the vintage ashtray bridge and its sweeettt!. It really gives it the tele twang. And the 70's logo just adds to the cool factor. I think both guitars are great but i dont see a reason to spend more for the American Standard. This one is just as good and to me sounds better. But i recommend going to a guitar center and playing both. :) Thanks for watching!
Hi there. Thanks for watching! I love this guitar and would highly recommend itt to anyone out there! I play with a medium to heeavy touch on the strings. the jumbo frets are just fine. they do not get in the way and are easy to work with. the tuning keys really keep the guitar in exceptional tune! they feel a little strange and might take a very little bit to get used to but they are just fine. they wont effect the tuning at all. :) Thanks again! hope this helps!
Can you give me a list of songs or influences used in this video? I've always wanted a telecaster and I love the type of music that you play, but I'm coming from a long history of various types of metal..
I worked many years for Fender and in both factories, what you say doesn't make sense at all. Everyone who talks like this and spread the word don't know what they're talking about. Ofcourse there are Mexicans in both factories, but the craftsmanship is completely different. When I worked in Ensenada I had to do things in 2 hours, in Corona I had a whole day for the same production. This has a huge effect on the overall Fender product.
its called quality, one factory rushes production, and components...the other factory takes their time perfecting the instruments. they dont even use the same materials . MIA have copper on their pickups , MIM has a copper mix, which is why they dont sound the same
DUDE GREAT DEMO. I OWN A 91' STRAT PLUS, AND A VINTAGE MODDED SG STANDARD. MY SG IS MY FIRST AND GO TO BUT I DON'T PLAY THE STRAT THAT MUCH. I PLAYED A AMERICAN STANDARD TELE AND I COULD SCREAM IT SOUNDS SO GREAT I HAVE SOME GUITARS FOR SALE! LOL! JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT ASH IS A BIT BRIGHTER AND GIVES THE GUITAR A GRAINY TOP END. ALDER IS DENSER AND A BIT DARKER IN SOUND. MAHAGONY IS THE DARKEST. I USE A CLEAN BOOST FOR MY SG.LOL ROCK ON!!
It should be noted that the pickups in the American Special Telecaster are not "Custom Shop Texas Specials" but a "Production Texas Special" They have rubber coated wire leads and the bridge pickup has flat pole pieces. The "Custom Shop Texas Special" has cloth/wax dipped wire leads and has a staggered bridge pickup. Fender is guilty of misleading people with these calling them "Texas Specials" when in deed they are not the same as the true "Custom Shop Texas Specials" everyone is aware of. Fender should have named the American Special pickups something entirely different.
Justin Anderson I own a 2018 American Special and my Texas Special bridge pick up is Custom Shop with staggered pole pieces. It could be an upgrade to the more recent release since mine is the final year model of the AS before being replaced by the Performer series.

Bought this exact one about 2 weeks ago. My favorite guitar by far.
I just bought the same one today but in Sunburst. You can recognize the Telecaster sound and I love it ! The tuning system is much reliable than the one on my Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold but sure it's another school. Thanks mrTurdo1. ;)

Nicely done. Thanks... I went out and bought one.

Best review off this guitar on UA-cam Thanks!

i have the vintage blonde one...worth every penny...teles are beasts
Great review from a person who owns and plays one perspective, thanks for sharing your thoughts :-)
thanks very much for your reply... helps alot... gotta get me one!
Thanks again and take care
I apologise if this is a stupid question. But with the jumbo frets don't you have to have high action to avoid fret buzz?
Good review,lovely tones there.

I am planning to buy one, what do you think should i pay more and buy an american standard ????!!!!
Nice axe. It'd go well with my Fender Champion 600 tube amp. Time to start saving.
Is that the Seinfeld tone your using?

some other ones you would like would be Brent Mason and Danny Ganton. They can play the tele real good. if uve haven't already heard of them

the weight is approx. 7 pounds. Fairly light compared to most solidbody electric guitars. :)
Nice guitar. Indeed.
whats the difference between fender american special and american standard tele?
Hi there. Thanks for watching! I love this guitar and would highly recommend itt to anyone out there! dude, is this tele made in USA? just like the american standard tele?
The standard edition is 250$ at my local music shop!
man, how much that guitar (american/korean) what is the difference sound/price? thanks for you attention.
Can you give me a list of songs or influences used in this video? I've always wanted a telecaster and I love the type of music that you play, but I'm coming from a long history of various types of metal..
Mexican fenders: Made in mexico by mexicans
American fenders: Made in America by mexicans
And they're doing a good job of it, at that.

BillieSebastian well damn no wonder why they cost more in the US the production workers are slow.

The big difference from a standard is limited colours and and urethane finish.
I want to buy a fender but I think I will hold out for the new Trumpcaster
i got one
It must have been rough times in elementary school with a last name Turdo
still is.
Nice chicken pickin' Mr T.
ash is a much harder wood than alder...there is no doubt about that.
you should sometimes hit an A-chord during talkin´
Fake bone nut also known as synthetic bone nut.
@doucet68
boring...boring...boring....
