Hello Weston Historical society and Professor Thorson. I would first like to say that the video is of unbelievable quality I really enjoyed the lecture. I am a Massachusetts native, and naturally have spent a lot of time observing these stone walls and studying the culture of the Wampanoag. I would very much like to discuss with you the method we have determined is very useful for discovering native stones in our region of Massachusetts. I would very much like a second opinion on our method as it utilizes primary ethnographic data, topological map data, and physical evidence on the ground to support our claims that these rocks are sacred, and native. With this being said I am an armchair historian who understands that serious inquiry must be verified by the pros. Please let me know if this is something of real interest to you as it is for us.

Hello Evan. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the lecture. Professor Thorson does not work for the Weston Historical Society and might not see your wonderful comment. Please reach out to him with your questions regarding the Wampanoag. Here is his website: robertthorson.clas.uconn.edu/

PURPOSE OF THESE WALLS - As the natives of southern America went to great lengths in constructions to track the movements of the heavenly 'god' bodies so to did the ancient natives of northern America go to great lengths in constructions to track the movements of their god mother earth. These walls are 'seismic' grids that show when an area was struck by earthquake or land movement deformation. If an area was struck by earthquake shaking the tightly fitted stone walls would show signs of getting jostled loose. Instances of land deformation would show up in the deformation of the wall line. Clear instances of this can be seen where walls built in a straight line, at one point, and for no apparent reason, snake a bit before returning to a straight line. The walls weren't built that way, they were built straight but were 'snaked' when the land underneath them deformed. When a land deforms there is little way of knowing it happened even to one who is familiar with the area. But if a well fitted stone wall was built over that land mass that land mass movement, whether by quake shaking or land deformation (or both same time), it's point of origin and area can easily be determined as evidenced by the condition of these grids of stone walls. SEISMIC MONITORING GRIDS
