Corruption is a byproduct. Lack of identity and incentive structures are the causal factors for it. We have always followed trends in football and that has been the reason we haven't had a single player in the top 5 leagues. The Belgian model will be replaced by Dutch one in 5 years.

In Nigeria it is our belief that India was issued a hundred years ban for using black magic in their last match against Nigeria. It is believed that our goal keeper would see several lions approaching him anytime the Indian striker takes a shot at him. Nigerians also claim the scores were 99:0 in favor of India meaning the average of 1 goal per minute. Edit: The match actually ended 99:1 but the Nigerian player that dared to score against India died shortly after, from unknown complications.

AIFF spent nearly 1.6 million Rupees on an astrolgy firm for good vibes, but can't afford to provide proper football facilities to young footballer??? Abhorrent behaviour from those incharge. Shame!
there are 3 problems in indian football. 1) bad management/corruption as you saw from this video. 2) Most kids quit football after 10th grade to focus on their careers(a footballer is considered as a very bad career option in india since they dont get paid a lot). 3)training facilities aren't great at most places
Leadership and Corruption Problems are also prevalent here in Bangladesh too. We have a rich traditon of Football yet the president currently has been in power for 14 years and our ranking is going downhill. I hope I can see my country in the world cup within my lifetime.
This ultimately was good as finally indian football is getting organised and future looks hopeful. And finally the supereme court and government started paying attention.
Apart from the chaos in the organisation, there is the factor of super popularity of cricket. Children while playing football will leave for a shot in cricket and return back - the mind and heart of Indian youth is in cricket.
Lol didn't say it was, I said that I didn't do a deep dive myself, and that was largely because I didn't really know where to start with this one, this video helped that.
It's not them, they only look for financial security for their child. It's about the federation to make football into a good career option. Like cricket. If not why would ones parent want to let them go into football.
Thats not how it works. Football must become a great career option in the same way cricket has become. Only then parents will encourage children to take up football as a career option.
No; sports as an entertainment doesn't pay for a career in India. When was the last time we paid to see local sports events? Unless there are enough people with money and the willingness to spend that money on entertainment through sports; there won't be any progress. Call me a capitalist; but that's how it works
As a rising super power, India like it or not will have to do more with sports ,not acceptable that a big country like India is so low in sports . Look at china it has understood that is working extremely hard to meet western standards competitors. Any strong country that wants international respect must be sucesseful in many types of sports
Sports isn't mandatory or relevant to being a super power (or human existence)! That and they're good at cricket from what i understand, which is a sport!
HAHAHA facts if the people on the top don't know anything except to make money, then what else will happen. I applaud FIFA for this act and I hope checks will be kept on the misuse of power in Indian football which takes away the opportunities of many young aspiring footballers.
Can you please make a video about why Pakistan is not able to join FIFA? I know they apparently make the best football that is also used by FIFA in this world cup and many in the past. A country that makes the best football should also have a good strong team. I'm assuming its somewhat same reasons at India.
There’s no correlation. Being able to stitch a ball together doesn’t mean they should play the sport excellently. Does Vietnam making most Nike shoes mean they should have the best runners in the world?
India should have the biggest sports platform in the world regardless of sport just because of our population. The fact we are always let down by corruption and greed really lets down our athletes. If we can a half decent structure, organisation with some decent coaching from abroad to train up our coaches we could do well in multiple sports, not just cricket. Be nice to see us in the Olympics competing for medals and being dark horses for some of the world cups. Hopefully in my lifetime
Limiting player representation, having poor league structure, lack of administration, misuse and wasting of finances, Indian football needs a serious serious overhaul
Remember, politician and sports never mix and end up well. I've witnessed this myself by my hometown state club. A club that have achieved everything, never lose at home ground, winning treble, competing at the highest stage amongst the best at that moment, but after all those glories, everything went downfall, new big stadium project is never heard again, failing to be competitive on and off the pitch, losing players to rival, failing to pay for players salary. Enough is enough. Im glad the club is owned by the righ hands now.
@@rutvikrs but not for the football club. Well it's all about management and integrity of course, corruption is the main factor, and that's something already well known about politicians.
@@ikgz98 1. Then get AIFF out of government control. Let them create their own funding. Been saying this for a decade. Cricket and tennis are private and they are India's best run sports. 2. Corruption is the symptom not the cause of issues. The main reason politicians join these organisations is to gain experience in administration. It's better to mess up a club or sportsboard than a ministry. A lot of them are corrupt. But so are ex footballers. There was one who took football back decades. 3. A lifetime of playing does not prepare you for paper pushing administrative jobs. Ex players don't have skills in budget management, operations management, marketing and experience based skills. I love how fifa likes to tell everyone how to run the domestic leagues but realistically they couldn't run a bath, what's that saying about throwing stones in glass houses
As I understand it, it's highly regional. Football is huge in West Bengal, but not quite so big elsewhere, and of course the sport that gets the kind of attention in India that football does in most of the rest of the world is cricket. That said, West Bengal alone already has a population greater than that of Germany and nearly twice that of Argentina, and neither of those countries have ever had population statistics be a problem in producing scores of quality players and achieving huge success with their national teams.
@@rjfaber1991 it's indeed very true that football in India is extremely regional, but West Bengal isn't the only state which has a high potential. The problem lies elsewhere though. India lacks proper infrastructure and grassroot training programmes. The entire administrative structure is full of corrupt and inept people, with petty regional politics ruining the talented players and stunting their development. Although football is popular certain regions, it's not enough to ensure that the national leagues, clubs and the players get appropriate funds, which unfortunately is redirected towards cricket, and that in turn affects every other sport. It's very sad to see the current state of Indian football
@@Dev_712if infrastructure is the problem, Africa would not have players in Europe. @@charlasdefutbolscouting east bengal and mohun bagan are mostly famous in bengal or few regions not whole of india. Avg indians haven't even heard names if they not interested in football. Also the factor most miss is football is not seen as a financially good career to take. Even if bengal has culture but most parents will not let them go into that career if they feel that isn't financially secure. It's about lack of football culture in whole country, lack of facilities, lack of investment, administration problems, bad league structure and not convincing parents of football being a financially secure career.
@@charlasdefutbolscouting it doesn't make sense to compare countries having very different culture, geography and traditions. And as I had said, poor infrastructure is one of many problems. Secondly, for a lot of South American and African kids who play in Europe or elsewhere, football was the only way to live a decent life. If they could somehow make it to the top, they were guaranteed to live a better life. The same drive can be found in Indian kids as well, however the sport is different - it's cricket. Why? Because of the money that is invested in cricket is significantly more than that invested in all other sports combined. A professional football player doesn't even earn a tenth of the money earned by a cricketer. Add in the fact that there are differences in physical features as well. Just having a large fan base is never enough to produce quality players
The thing about "underperforming" nations is that a big population doesnt mean a bigger talent pool. China and India are like 30% of the world's population. Yet both are below average at football.
A bigger population obviously means a bigger talent pool? Lol Iceland has less than half a million people and they found 11 guys to qualify for a World Cup. If India and china can’t do the same with their population size and resources then can you see how someone might call them “underperforming?”

Corruption is a byproduct. Lack of identity and incentive structures are the causal factors for it. We have always followed trends in football and that has been the reason we haven't had a single player in the top 5 leagues. The Belgian model will be replaced by Dutch one in 5 years.
India has structural problem everywhere including cricket. Amit Shah made his son the head of BCCI. Guess ICC is kind of impervious to it because the amount of money IPL brings in
He was duly elected, also he is not the Head, that will be Roger Binny and BCCI has been very successful

In Nigeria it is our belief that India was issued a hundred years ban for using black magic in their last match against Nigeria. It is believed that our goal keeper would see several lions approaching him anytime the Indian striker takes a shot at him. If India wants to be great in Football and sports in general, Our parents need to shift away from the mentality of ' Study and get into engineering '.
Depends by the sport. India has never been a football nation. Their national sport is cricket and they’re very good at it
Keep the flame of football alive in your country and one day, there will be a time

Pretty similar to Indonesia's suspension on football from 2014-2016
Limiting player representation, having poor league structure, lack of administration, misuse and wasting of finances, Indian football needs a serious serious overhaul
It's good for the politician and the country's politics. That is about it.
They ruin sports administration across the world.
4. To involve ex sportspersons hoping to get results is the same logic as appointing a lawyer for hostage negotiation or a taxi driver as a pilot.
@@rutvikrs that's a long one. But im just talking about my experience from my country specifically. The politicians that own a football club have their own agenda. And it's a profitable ones. India is a strange case. 1.2 billion people; they love football, mainly english football, but zero good player.
Uruguay has 3 million people and a poor league with the worst stadiums of american continent (disreputables), but they compete with everywhere.
India has been qualified for FIFA in the past but our AIFF chose to go to Olympics and also other factors
