Little disturbing is that the metro lies next to a 8x2 lanes mega highway. Defeats the purpose of public transport.🤐🤪 Another thing I notice is that actual citizens don't seem to take the subway. I mostly see ex-pats or foreigners using the system. I don't know what your assessment is of the Emiratis using the metro .... 🤫😜
The local citizens do actually use the metro, perhaps it's just the time of day (12pm) that gives a different impression. This is how it looks during rush hour🤠: ua-cam.com/video/RkJ8Qe2NZqs/v-deo.html Also according to Wikipedia 90% of the Dubai citizens are non-Emirati anyway...
You should consider that Dubai is more or less an "artificial" city...not much history left. It was not before the oil boom it really got big... The Sheikhs got a lot of money to spend and that´s the result. Without the foreign work-force Dubai would be not much of importance. 1,8 million inhabitants and 1 million registered cars. Note that due to the climate it´s also more pleasant to ride the own car. It´s seering hot there. The doors on the platforms are there not only for security reasons but to keep the stations temperature-controlled.
