After discovering Tim Sykes, Jack quickly took to both Tim Grittani and Mike Huddie’s trading styles. Shorting just made sense to him. That’s when he realized trading was something he could do to supplement his income - and he got to work.
First, he studied for a whole year! And rightfully so … Finding consistency as a trader takes patience, time, and hard work.
In his early trading days, he found most of his success in shorting OTCs. But OTC stocks can be fickle. These opportunities don’t come around often. He knew he couldn’t stay disciplined enough to only trade those setups.
He just didn’t have the patience for that...
He wanted more edge and opportunity. And even though he was doing everything right, he wanted to do better.

One of my favorite traders
With a small account, you have to focus on risk reward, as you can not trade often. For the next few weeks I will focus on OTCs that breakout in the morning, consolidate and hold sideways over VWAP and then spike in the afternoon and then sell in the morning. Start with a small amount and add in if it proves it can keep going with the consolidation level as my stop. Going to replay stocks in TOS first to understand what it looks like and where to execute. Hoping I understood this correctly.
My takeaway from Jack is to try not to be a n00b!

I would like to know the difference in trading OTCs and blue chips like TSLA and NFLX. Do retail traders have an edge trading blue chips? I am talking about day training options for bluechips as you still can make 20-30% every day with the same 3-4 stocks

It’s tough right cuz we always say there’s always gonna be another opportunity but when ur under PDT and u use all ur cash and or 3 day trades on margin it’s like u have to get a perfect set up on the time/days u have ur trades available which absolutely sucks missing runners over and over it’s kinda messed up that PDT is even a thing

Awesome interview. Started trading about 4 weeks ago after studying for over a year and have seen good results ($12k deposited into account, $14k value right now) . However, I made my account a margin account because "I WANT TO SHORT SELL"....Well, I do not find myself short selling at all and the PDT rule has lost me at least $2k from not being able to cut losses quickly. Should I go back to a cash account if I am not short selling until I get my account up to a certain value?
So out of 10k how much Tim Sykes charged you? So how much is your actual start up capital after that?
