    A CITY IN DAILY LOVES
An Affective Geography of Postmigrant Berlin
This video-essay approaches ideas of postmigrant feeling and be/longing in Berlin. Fragments of texts and conversations - unfinished, intimate and ongoing at best - lead us to a felt geography that accrues by way of migrant rhythms, refrains and relations. A City in Daily Loves is an intimate scenography of Berlin, one that is neither fixed nor entirely external to the self. Here, Berlin is a material yet porous ground of affect, a city located along the interface of inward and external modes, felt only subjectively and piecemeal.
Featuring: Bani Abidi, Iskander Abdalla and Sylvia Schedelbauer
    Duration: 45 minutes
A cultural anthropologist and Berliner-by-love, Omar Kasmani is a post-doctoral research associate at the Collaborative Research Center, Affective Societies at Freie Universität, Berlin. His work pursues critical notions of intimacy, religious affect and postmigrant be/longing - a research practice that is best situated across the study of Islamic life-worlds and queer and affect theory.
