I’ll never give up my blu rays! I own close to 2,000 and my collection rocks. Owning them means I can watch what I want when I want and never be at the mercy of streaming services. People who rely on Netflix and Prime for movie watching have limited choices. No thanks.
I know right cause to me it doesn't make any sense they throw all these damn streaming services at you but still they can never put every single thing on them so half the time your still stuck with nothing that you want to watch somebody mentioned to me awhile ago streaming services are going to be the norm technology wise i was like but they have not even found a way yet to fit every single movie every single series on any streaming service so no i can't seeing being the norm for many years if their even to achieve it.
Some of these recent movies that aren't even getting physical releases could eventually get lost entirely. Like The Ritual, for instance. If Netflix went under in 5 years, where will all their exclusive stuff go? Or all these Shudder films, etc. Do they eventually disappear? It seems like a fair amount dont get a physical release, so how will people continue to watch them years from now?

We dont get Target in Canada, but the movie selection at Best Buy and Walmart has seriously gone down hill over the last few years. Best Buy has hardly any and Walmart's selection is pitiful at best.
Just been to Walmart and it looks like there getting rid of all there physical media only 1aile and 1end cap of movies and not that much to really choose from plus they seemed to have gotten rid of all the vynl albums they had only 2 leftover records left small selection of leftover cds sad and I hate having to order online because a lot of these places don't care how they ship them have the time I end up returning them because they came damaged

My local best buy renovated years ago and completely got rid of their movie section and replaced it with one small kiosk of new releases. The store is just full of appliances and TVs now. I'm surprised it took your BB this long to remodel being in Cali and all.
I remember when this happened at circuit city. They went from 3 aisles of movies and dwindled down to a corner section next to the tvs and car stereos. 😢
My local Best Buy doesn't even gave that anymore. The movies are in a stand in the middle of an aisle now. Its like they won't even give physical movies any decent aisle space. Maybe thisvis a reason why Best Buy isnt doing so well. 😊
My Best Buy in West Virginia movies is so small. There's only two sections1 of the new releases and And older movies and it's way in the back of the store of Best Buy and it's so small when they did R remodel.

Most people just watch streaming at home now. Not a lot of people buy physical media anymore. I'm the total opposite, I still collect physical media, and I don't really do a lot of streaming.

Let’s be honest… people who collect physical media are collectors and not your casual shoppers. Boutique stores or online specialty retailers are where they go to purchase their physical goods. Stores like Best Buy, Target and even Walmart to an extent gain almost nothing from carrying physical media. 85% of people who frequent those stores consume their movies and TV shows via streaming services and have no need for blue rays and DVD’s. In all honesty, aside from the aforementioned specialty stores… Barnes and Nobles is probably the best chain to find a wide selection of movies that aren’t just the new super hero movie. This day has been coming for an incredibly long time… if your Best Buy had movies until now, consider that a treat.
sometimes I stop at dollar general plus dollar tree to buy movies plus target or Walmart even buy movies at big lots plus rite aide I use to buy movies at the 99 cent only stores.
My Walmart yesterday got rid of the last of its 4ks for some reason and not the DVDs and Blurays, so that just means less reason for me to look in that section.
Physical media is on its last legs. Walmart had barely anything when i went on sunday. Came home with 3 dvds that i found in the dump bins. This is happening everywhere. I dont think physical stores are going anywhere. I remember hearing this 10-15 years ago that Amazon and online shopping would make shopping malls obsolete. Thankfully, it hasn't happened. Physical media needs to be preserved. It is the only way to own a movie. It is the only way to have the freedom to watch anything you want, in the best possible quality. I think it will always be around, at least in special editions and things like that. But I worry that more and more new releases will just be dumped to streaming only.

hate to tell you this man, but outside of LA most people don't really care about hollywood anymore. especially people under 40. they don't make physical media in the quantities they used to because the demand just isnt there, and even hollywood streaming platforms are struggling. it's all about youtube and independent creators now.
Most big box brick & mortar locations are moving to strictly online sales. Sometimes waiting on shipping is annoying, but Atleast I know my orders are usually secured and show up undamaged.

Well, i can tell you that Barnes & Noble have removed all of the Arrow titles. And the Criterion section has been nipped in half. Barnes & Noble told me that the media section will be gone this year. July 2023 will be your last chance for the Criterion sale in store. And there will be no Arrow titles available. WTF! So, these clowns are replacing the media section with more books, stationary and kids accessories like FN backpacks lol. FR FR. End of the times. No more Criterion hauls. The Criterion sale will still happen via online. They did confirm that. But what a crock of shit lol. I hate ordering online. I like searching n hauling. So get out there in July, LAST HAUL! But they could be gone before that. Way to go B & N, nice backpacks. 😂
shiii i saw knock on the cabin weeks ago in Peacock premium service to me was alright .. i cant believe people still buying disk , all the good to GREAT stuffs new movies & series is on paid streaming services apps such as i have ALL of them , BUT o well is nice to watch ur out & about, no wonder places dont gave a shyt about them anymore as see in here 90s & 2000s is over lol is like end of the era, just glad i sold all mine couple of years ago & was over a 1000 of them !@

If the streaming service decides to raise prices, you have no choice but to pay the higher prices because you don't own any of the media there.

That’s why you buy extra players now. Keep a couple as spares. Keep old players. And don’t get rid of your equipment.
