They've repaved and redesigned the parking lot, which now has new restrooms. The entrance to the trailhead has also changed slightly. It is a great hike and the trail is well-maintained. Fun, fun, fun!
My 4-legged-tail-waggin-adventure-pal & I visit the Punchbowl at least once a month. Great place, the staff is super. Look into the moonlight hikes. Generally on the Loop Trail. The rock formations look amazing under a full moon!
Awesome! Great to see another hike video! I've been to the Punchbowl a couple of times, but never did the Devil's Chair. I have hiked all the way to Burkhart Saddle and Pallett Mountain via Burkhart Trail, a tough but extremely scenic hike, but this one sure looks scenic as well. Looks like the Devil's Chair Trail has a junction with the South Fork Trail as well! South Fork Trail gains the crest at Islip Saddle.
Yea, I need to do some exploring on South Fork heading southbound, on the list. And Burkhart is another great one, will have a guide up for that in the near future. That whole area is so unique and beautiful.
I know! It is awesome. The San Gabriels are one of my favorite areas period!! I just did Granite Mountain and Pacifico Mountain yesterday! Scenery is insane!!
Very cool. I'll check this out soon! Did you get a new still photo camera? Photos on your website for this hike look a bit better than other hikes. Not that the others looked bad, these just look better- more contrast, color and detail.
Yea, switched to the new iPhone Xs Max, camera is incredible. The video is on a Garmin VIRB 360 and then converted to HD. Always trying to get better gear that isn't too bulking or fragile for outside.
HikingGuy.com have you hiked the Heather Lake loop at Sequoia NP? There is a section of the assent (not the humpback trail) that is absolutely breathtaking.
Great videos! I am really getting into different so cal trails. This one is near the top of my list! Is it open now? I’ve heard it is and I’ve heard it isn’t. Regardless, thank you for doing these videos!
Thank you! I haven't been here since the lockdown so not sure, but I have the ranger office tel number in the guide, so check out the link in the description and give them a call. Def worth doing at some point even if it's closed now.
Great video. I will definitely add this one to my list of hike to do this year. What time of year did you take this hike? I noticed the sun is very low in background and there was no snow on the ground.
Yea, did this in early Oct I think, just took me a while to get it up on the site. Doing these guides take hours, wish I had more time. Anywho... this is a great time to do it, don't think the snow is that bad these days...
You better watch for the rattlesnakes that we have r diffent type the Mojave western, the the Pacific and The Sidewinder so sping and summer time better keep a eye open and around because they are there even thought it's beautiful
Yea, I see rattlesnakes every once and a while. They don't bother anyone, they're just doing there thing. Just pay attention to where you walk and you'll be all good.
@@Hikingguy ive live out here sent 69 out in littlerock just trying to say to let people know when your on hikes to there eyes open because they have know to bite and with sidewinder you can step on one and not even know and it they well strike at you
@@Hikingguy thats all i was getting at and we get alot of people that well go hiking and not even watch their surroundings just like I'm at the poppy Fest they just walk all over the place and there's tons of Mojave. Greens out there especially the city folks they just don't know

Doing this hike Saturday. Is there a water crossing? If so, how deep/wide is it so that we're properly prepared?
Nothing to worry about, small stream
Thanks!
Is this a beginner hike?
Yup, it's a great hike for beginners.
