Thank You! I was wanting close ups on this thing. The inventor holds it and talks about it, but he doesn't give us nice up close footage. Yay! What a clever device. Dual format; no moving parts.
Remarkable. Makes one wonder if perhaps such devices for public use couldn't be rigged similarly to display 'Parking Allowed' and 'No Parking' for time sensitive parking areas.
Zoran Radek Well yeah, it does move but, you're right. Only moving part is the earth. Good catch. I put these mistakes in on purpose to see if anyone is paying attention. :-)
I don't know what kind of sorcery you are pulling, but this general idea, not so much of your device, but of using the sun to be the light source. That is the part I like. This is a beautiful design even if I don't understand how it works, but this concept of using the sun's light to say, make a clock, or whatever, ... that is really great. Thanks.
Very cool and challenge met. But I'm sticking with the stick and lines on the ground. It's more accurate, moment by moment. Just any stick. You don't have to 3D print a stick.
Too bad it only changes every 20 minutes. Also, on the one I have, by the time the sun passes through and hits the surface, the light is spread out so much it is hard to read the numbers. on the other hand, I am angling it to match my longitude just like the gnomon of a sundial and that might be the problem. Any advice?

Sender and receiver are both moving.

never heard of a sun dial? only been around for 2000 years or so...
I prefer the roman ones still, they weather the moss 200 years. nice to know those ones exist.
