  • This is this ONLY video that exists of this recording! I played bass on this session, along with Kevin Bond, Joel Smith, and Jonathan Dubose Jr! I had a guy tape the whole session for me from the balcony!

Here it is 2021 and I'm like I didn't know there was any video! I'm in the very back of the tenor section. The late great Daryl Coley was hanging out in the back of with us during this recording in Chicago. #FunTimes

From the first song to the last on this live recording was impeccable! I have ALL the seminar from the very FIRST one in 1983 on Lection! EHMAS was the BEST seminar / workshop recorded albums ever! The excellence, and the production was always PAR EXCELLENT!! This video brings back memories of REAL MASS CHOIRS!!!!! We need those back again! This new stuff that's out now....it's not hitting on anything! Edwin Hawkins need to do another seminar album!!!

You are very accurate on the high standard of excellence that was created on each and every album produced. Cherish your collection as I cherish nine also. Hawkins anything was always worth the cost finding.

This was one of the songs that I loved to teach my old choir back in the day. It still a good ole one to sing.

OMG!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe that I am hearing this song LIVE on Video! I grew up listening to this album! This song is from one of my Favorite Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar Albums of all time!!! Sadly, These Seminars are NOT what they used to be. I mean, look at the size of the choir-- can you say -"MASS" Choir!!!! The Seminar albums back then used to be very rich in sound, transitions, harmony and best of all, the music! Whenever you had Joel S, David B, Andrew Gouche, Kevin Bond and Jonathan Dubose Jr. play together, oh man!!---talk about a Monster Band!!! Additionally, what the Seminar albums had in common and the bond that held them together, was that they all had that "Bay Area Sound". This sound was coveted by so many choirs and musicians but only Edwin Hawkins Music &Arts could achieve this tight sound!!
Thanks so much for posting this wonderful video that has blessed me throughout the day! Please post more from this awesome recording!!!!!

Our Most Elect musicians are leaving here in a hurry, at least it seems like. RIP to Brother Joel Smith. Such deep and long lasting dedication to your craft and the Lord lifted you and called you back. May you very well take your walk on streets of God in His grace. Blessings.

I miss this type of musicianship. The band worked together to accompany the choir. Nowadays the just jack up the instruments, play over the choir, and say they "shedded." You didn't do nothing but shed our eardrums with that BAFOOLERY!

I am so glad that your friend taped this for you because I enjoy it to the fullest. Just can't tell all of what God has done for me. And I know I am not the only one.

Brings about memories when it was prudent to go directly to the credits to verify the record company, soloists and most notably the musician roster on each musical instrument. After the usual suspects were verified, then I knew beyond knowing I was about to be treated to anointed and authentic ministry through gospel music. One note was this particular project would have benefited from improved post production, but it was a stand out project. Well they all are, especially Angels Will be Singing. That was an different list of musicians and I thought for years that Joel Smith being list for bassist was an overwhelming error!!! Thank you for this post and hoping you indeed can get around to posting the rest of the recording video. Magnificent! You killing that bass for sure. Blessings.

Ughhhhh!!!! Just like drinking a COKE in a very hot day and saying "oh-yeah!!!!!!!" Music is super tight. Too bad that the church no longer believes in this type of gospel music!!
