Screening saves lives! Be make sure you talk to your healthcare provider about when and how often you should be screened for breast cancer! And if you can opt for Tomo instead of 2D mammo, take that option!

A 3-D mammogram is double the radiation of a 2-D. I believe it's worth it. Although, after doing a year of Chemo and maxed out on Radiation . I get very uncomfortable with this, after all Radiation causes cancer.
Science needs to come up with a better way.

It is NOT double the radiation. Tomo on average is only 38% more dosage than a traditional 2D mammo. But, the benefits of early detection FAR outweigh the minimal increase in radiation.
Radiation does NOT cause cancer. Radiation in high doses can potentially lead to cancer. Excessive radiation can be fatal, but for different reasons than long-term cancer growth.
The average American is exposed to 3 mSv (millisieverts) per year. A standard mammogram only exposes a patient to 0.4 mSv, or about 7 weeks' worth of normal background radiation.
If anyone is concerned about radiation, take precautions when going outside or spending any amount of time in the sun, as you're more likely to be exposed to harmful radiation from the sun's rays than through x-rays.
@dorisjcrotty1332 I hope whatever ailment sent you down the Chemo route is over for you now and that you are in remission. But, please, do not confuse or mislead anyone based on incomplete or inaccurate science. I wish you health and wellness going forward.
