And when you come to think of it, that thought is absolutely terrifying. I think it definitely taps into a general fear most people have. No one wants to die alone and feel like they've wasted their lives on useless things. But it's an important reminder for people to think of what really matters most to them in life.
ÓDÝR perfectly captures the existential angst that lies within the heart of all of us. It is a voice aware of the passing of time which urges us forward. The Macabe and haunting compliment of choral European singing hints to a time where people in Medieval times looked to a higher power to ease their existential anxiety. The hard synth line gives it a modern dystopian feel, mirrored by many films today and reflected in the visuals. Hatari in my mind through their art, music and message seek to touch upon the deep seated feelings in all of us and show us their vision of a future that could happen if we don't heed their warnings. 'Hate will prevail' is another such example which uses intense performances to anchor into the minds of audiences these themes so that, in our time, in the quite moments in daily life, we can reflect upon these ideas and live our best lives.
"Öskunni er stráð yfir kistuna og um leið man enginn hver þú varst. Ekkert fyrirfinnst jafn ómerkilegt og ævin sem var við að ljúka. Þú stóðst ekki fastar á þínu en svo að enginn kærir sig um minningu þína. Við tekur hyldýpi svartnættis og eilíf eymd í botnlausri algleymsku. " Honestly the best part of the songs. No one wants to die alone and feel like they've wasted their lives on useless things. But it's an important reminder for people to think of what really matters most to them in life.
Exactly! 👍
thank you
Nice ❤️🥰👍
Honestly the best part of the songs. Gives me the goosebumps.
Same. The band I've been searching for my whole life.
Klemens has so soft and beautiful voice ❤️
How can these two can be too sweet in interviews but their songs...!
Such a complicated but awsome combination. Love them! Thank you Iceland to let them join to ESC19.
The tears fall down from my eyes when I listen to this alone and read these lyrcs. It is exactly what I would have written but I could not write. Thank you for creating this, thank you for leting me take these things out of my chest because I myself alone could not have created something that screams in despair how pointless the human existance and how much it hurts in such a poetic way.
2:57 is exactly how I feel right now because I’m so stressed about the results tomorrow
This is how i feel right now because I’m so stressed that Israel will ban us from Eurovision ;(
Kariirafn kr well, Hatari can’t get banned for anything they are saying right now. It all depends on what they do in May. They need to be careful with where, when and how they say things. But they're smart. It will probably be okay.
Mirror Onthewall this is relatable af

Bless Eurovision for showing Europe this band
спасибо Евровидению хоть за что-то... i keep coming back to this song and it’s been like 4 years since i heard it for the first time.. klemen’s vocals are hauntingly beautiful
Im not sure if you are reading comments or not but i will say in every case. Its absolutely not typical for me but im just crying right now during the song. Its very deep, sensually and meaning. All of you are piece of art, and you could touch the parts of my soul, which i never knew about. Thank you for being who you are and doing what you do.
I think this song made me cry once too. This is definitely an extremely emotional song.
Hatari are extremely talented, but I don't think they could do any better than this, honestly.
Sava Jevtić I wouldn’t be that sure, to be honest. We just can hope that they will save depth and quality of their songs
@@argentumsquallo It's not that they're not good enough, it's that the song is extremely good

Klemens' voice: MASTERPIECE
I love the part where Klemens sings. His voice is so soothing and the lyrics are so hauntingly beautiful 💙
i'm so glad i found this talented, amazing, mesmerizing band through eurovision.
Never been so touched by lyrics power
Hatari are so FUCKIN GOOD??????? It’s so refreshing to see people making art with actual meaning istg....
After 4 years, I’m back here and I still feel this song…
And still feel it. 💔
This song.... This song literally changed my perspective on life. Even though I'm just a Dutch 16 year old, I'm have been learning Icelandic because of the band Hatari. Even in these tough times, I still listen at least 3 Hatari songs a day.
Wow, having at 16 these thoughts is to be respected. I'm also from Hollands and want to learn Icelandic
Love u Hatari ❤️ from Armenia , good luck 🇦🇲
first armenian person I've seen who liked them too. ❤️💙🧡
It's so dramatic that it hurts. I get some teenage drama vibes that I can definitely accept in my middle-age crisis. I love this song for the outworldy nostalgia, for the text, for Klemens's angelic voice (and himself reminding me in this video of Igor Sorin - which kinda adds to the drama) and Matthias's desperate screams. Damn, it's my favourite song for now!
Ahhaha same! Feel like I'm 14 again! My new fav band, definitely.
This song... holy shit, this song. I'm deeply in love with Hatari at this point (will actually see them for the second time live in just a few days), but I just feel this song. That rawness, that "why did I sell myself so cheap", the screams, Klemens' haunting vocals, that last bit where Matthías really goes off and you can really hear the desperation, that wonderful beat that I can hear in my sleep... God, I just feel that no matter how often I listen to this song.
Same. ❤️
Same ❤️
same bruh
try einsturzende neubauten’s song “armenia”… so similar to this, even more darker and haunting, even creepier.
Their Eurovision song brought me here. Love the message they transmit and their originality. Regards from Portugal! :)
It's great to see another fellow Portuguese here! Most people I know don't see how great Hatari are! I hope they win Eurovision!
@@shanepereira5370 unfortunately they didn't, but they sure deserved to! People who voted were too lazy to find out what the lyrics meant and understand their message... Sad.

You guys make the alternative scene proud, and bloom again..

The north pole thing made me laugh. And I laugh just a little bit more than Matthias.
Well, if you consider the magnetic north pole is moving from canada to Syberia, in a few years is likely Iceland could be the north pole.

As someone that only listens to extreme metal for about 4 years now, I'm guilty to say that the small bit of black metal atmosphere in this touches my soul like nothing else non-metal can. Huge respect for these guys, absolutely obsessed with them.
This song will touch anyone's soul, it's just perfect...
I need some more music and videos from these guys....

@@Billja13 Thanks info! I am warming up to the backup singer btw, as you requested =).
The interviews they give are awesome, hehe.
Do you know if the drummer will focus on Hatari now? He is as important for the band as Matthias, for me!
@@Krystallen They all are important. :) Idk but I hope he'll focus on Hatari because they're getting more and more attention, a great band¡
@@Billja13 Yeah! And comments both here in youtube, and in the underground Gothic world, Hatari has only very positive feedback!
Have you seen those youtube channels that both has private people "analysing eurovision" in their own way. AND the more official sites (more normal in scandinavia) with journalists who reports months before the event, and analysing after the event?
They ALL running around like headless chickens, trying to put Hatari in a box of "type of music" (NON has got it right, not even eurovisions own site).
They also seams to argue about if the band wants to spead political agenda, or hate something like banks, or are sexual perverts who wants to spread their "lifestyle".
Im not even gonna begin to quote what my country, sweden, is saying.
Thank you Billja 13 for all your replies to me. You gave me alot of info I didnt know about Hatari.

Sounds pretty much like Hennig May in this song.
Now I see why Matthias described Hatriđ mun sigra as one of their more quiet, softer songs.
Oh my, Klemens has the best voice!
VOTE HATARI
of course!
12 points from Poland ;)
And Hungary and Finland :D
We sure did! All of Finland voted HATARI!
This is the true definition of art
This song... Oh my god, this song. I have no idea how to describe things it does to me. It touches something at the very bottom of my soul. It makes so many emotions to rise in me. The lyrics are so painfully truthful and intelligent. And Matthias' voice expresses so much, so many emotions... I wish there were more people who saw the world for what it really is, without any illusions, the way Hatari does.
