Led Zeppelin - Live at the Bath Festival (June 28th, 1970) - 16mm film

- Here is all the relevant professionally filmed footage publicly available of Led Zeppelin's appearance at the 1970 Bath Festival, including shots of the band backstage, a roadie setting their speakers up, and around 10 minutes of the show itself shot by Peter Whitehead and Ernie Vincze.
As many of you know I tried uploading this years ago but it was immediately taken down. Hopefully enough time has passed, plus Kino Library themselves may not own the footage anymore as the clips were removed from their UA-cam channel.
Enjoy!
Please... for sound (when the concert begins and we have an available audience recording), skip to 7:10. Otherwise, the footage is innately SILENT.
I was there with my mates, a great line up…..Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe, Dr John, Collosseum,The Byrds, Frank Zappa & Mothers, Steppenwolf, Johnny Winter, John Mayall with Peter Green, and many more….a brilliant weekend
Stunning line-up! Wow,thanks
And, It's a beautiful day. I was so out there when they played.
I wish I had been alive then to experience these glorious bands
Peter Green and Johnny Winter.
I was born 10 years too late,
54 years ago. All this youngsters are in their 70’s or 80’s now. How I hate time.
Yes, and I am one of them….was a memorable weekend though.
I am 62
@@Bosiota1 lucky. You were a youngster at that show. I am 62 also and would have been 8. Took me till 13 to see my first concert. Bravo.
You just don't appreciate it enough until there is less ahead of you than behind you. You don't see it coming for you , but it does just the same. I'm 60 now and I tell you it went by in a blur...I was wondering how many of these people in he video were still around..
I was there and that Sunday the 28th was the first day of my last year as a teenager
It started at 6:30 in the morning waking cold, damp and startled to the sound of Bob Hite booming through the P.A. 'Good morning Britain - we're Canned Heat and we're gonna boogie'.
This video is a time machine ❤
Historically brilliant. They all look so young. Barely into their career and not quite realising how influential, how admired and how well respected they'd become.
This was over 50 years ago. What did you expect them to look like? Your time is gonna come too. No pun intended😂
OMG if this whole show existed in this quality and with pro audio as intended... The stuff of dreams.
Yup
exactly why it's a dream... I could say the same for ANY Zeppelin show--wish it was pro shot pro sound/dolby/ pro backstage interviews/ hi-jinx in back of Limo heading back to hotel/ pro shot inside the Led Zep plane/Caesar's Chariot. YES, we all can dream.
@@bishlap The point is there was an actual film crew at this show and yet all we have are these fragments. And it also happened to be a hit as hell show.
@@sledzeppelin ok, Dogg, I'm on your side, but I stopped hoping/praying for any "NEW" Zeppelin for many years now. How much energy does Jimmy have(left) to really put together something new and different. According to Jimmy, it was hell to piece together the RAH show and he had to hire lawyers and God Forbid, SPEND MONEY to reproduce his own material.
PEACE.
@@bishlapyeah. The story is wild how they had to get the RAH footage. There’s a great in-depth video on UA-cam about the court case to buy the footage back.
As raw as it gets , can’t help but admire JPJ’s trouser’s
absolutely priceless, indeed!
*THIS IS GOLD.*
Thanks for this.
Thank you for putting this all together, syncing, etc. This looks fantastic. I've seen this video many times now, and it never gets old. Easily my favorite footage of the band.
before you know it, youth passes us by like a thief in the night
Blink twice then your 40
I knew that you would come up with more, and Thank You!!
It’s not removed.
I'm blown away. Great work Ledzeppfilm! Thank you.
OMG....wow! Thanks for the upload and all your work !
Thank you for this. The footage is crystal compared to what was uploaded prior. You rock! 👍
Thank you for sharing this video!!!
This is gold! Thanks for uploading bro!
There was a wall poster of this show being sold around 1972-73.
I found one on eBay and had it restored. It took me many years to find it.
My Zep treasure!
I had one at the time, I remember thinking Jimmy looked awful in his hat and coat! lol
Absolutely fabulous! Thank you!
Gotta love Page’s Flasher outfit! I was in my momma’s belly during this show!
Thank You For Sharing! The camera work here is an abject mess and you did an absolutely brilliant job of putting it all together!
amazing video. Thanks for posting
Priceless!! Thank you for adding the sound and hopefully this won't be taken down like before!!
So you better download that as long as you can!
Thanks for uploading three gorgeous videos over the weekend - 70 Bath, 77 Chicago, and 79 Knebworth.
Bonham didn't look like a very big guy until he got behind those drums, then he was a beast! That's when he was bigger than any man in the room, even when he was sitting down! A man who kicks that hard sitting down was a mighty big man!! RIP King of the drums Bonham!
Calm down...
@@stillnotwokelmfao🤣
Phenomenal, thanks man!
Cheers 🍺
Thanks so much! This film is a unique time capsule. I wasn't there but I remember the early Zep years as I was born the same year as Robert.
Thank you so much for this. This is the best we’re ever going to get I think.
That's not saying a lot that this is the best your going to get, lol. Think in 1970, the same year as this photage,, The Mighty Who put out Live At Leeds, blows this stuff off of the stage doesn't it. Even The Stones Get Yer Yas Yas Out was classic.
very good- thank you for posting this\
Having Some Fun fifty four years ago ❤☆☆☆☆☆LED ZEPPELIN☆☆☆☆☆❤!!!!!!!!
It's a pity that the sound quality was poor or no sound because the footage was awesome, just took a walk back in time.
Haven't seen that one before and very early days thanks for uploading, cheers👍
Just those quick moments of Jimmy in his farmer’s hat walking backstage with Charlotte Martin are legend! Such a great meshing of the footage and good recorded sound as well is
much appreciated.
Mr Film! Wow. We were just talking about this the other day on DoD. Thanks, mang!
Thank you
Thanks for posting! Too bad this was never released.
It was never released because it was crap. Now ask yourself honestly, is this really a good sound, and a good performance?
Wow, love the opening shot of Jimmy and Charlotte (not Scarlet) just strolling past the crowd. Amazing footage! After seeing pics from the show for decades it's amazing to see these! And, we visited Bath a couple of yeas ago, it' a very special place!
It's not Scarlet, it's Charlotte, Scarlet's mother!
@@mattiuszep Ahh, there ya go! I was close..
Charlotte was hot back in the day
@@surfshack2 Ohhhh YEAH!! She dumped Clampett haha...oops Clapton XD
Scarlet ??? Wasn’t born yet
And to think we thought the stones roses wore bucket hats first. Zep were original in every way.
Robert Plant looked like a wizard or someone from Lord of the Rings with his pointy beard and curled mustache and long curly hair during this period of 1970 lol.
Viking.
@@michaelbruns449 He looks more Viking than any Swede I've met growing up
Too bad, he couldn’t sing worth a darn. He sounded like a squealing cat.
As someone who’s not a big fan of most of their music, I certainly appreciate the historical footage of this legendary band. Did anyone notice the boots that Robert Plant was wearing?… They are totally Dallas Cowboys with the color and the star on top!
The fact that you can publicly state your “not a big fan” of “most of their music” just indicates that you are a danger to society!
I don’t blame you for not liking the squealing cat plant
Yes, lol. I noticed them, too, and thought they were quite magnificent.
@knowmusicman157
Greatest rock singer there ever was, and his voice ever changed. Not the same voice on III as on I and not the same voice on Physical Graffiti as on IV. Not even the same voice on In Through The Out Door as Presence.
This audio is a terrible recording.
@@knowmusicman157Plant is a great studio singer but not a live frontman, that belongs to Daltrey.
Great 16 mm film/video quality!
Wow!!! Fantastic. Thanks
Standing at side of stage at 13:40 must have been like standing next to a jet engine or tornado watching Zep in their prime!✈️🌪️🎸🤘
THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏
So amazing to see Bonham in action and his ultimate drumming skills. Also John P Jones , what a talent. They were 50% of Zeppelin for sure.
This is insane. I cant believe what im watching. Thank you
Glad you like watching it, better than hearing it
Bring it on home :) Thank you LZF.
Gold for this old fan. Bring It is one of my fave of theirs and have this film is my 14 year old teen dream.
Brilliant counterpoint to the Coachella nonsense going on this weekend.
Nonsense is right.
Verily, I doth agree
Robert Plant with facial hair, Jimmy Page dressed like a flasher, John Paul Jones sauntering in safari animal pants, Bonzo with a drum key just sitting on a tom while he decimates the kit, this is amazing
Al minuto 02:31 no puede faltar otro ícono de la cultura popular: el VW ''Escarabajo'', el ''Vocho'', el *''Fusca''* eterno 😍 como LED ZEPPELIN 😍🥰
I read a recent interview that Kino removed this footage from their UA-cam channel due to its inclusion in the Becoming Led Zeppelin documentary.
Thanks! 🙏❤️👍
RIGHT ON THANKS ✌️
I just time traveled back to that era, my God we were so lucky to live that
I do love watching legendary footage of gods with no sound, yes...
Dude, go 7 minutes in
How many of you, had this poster of this show on your bedroom wall, when you were a kid? I know I did.😎👍
The greatest music bands, simpler times…no cell phones…no internet….people hung out with strangers and friends and talked….”did their thing” …miss that simpler..
More realtime
Or just waited and waited with a resting bitch face.
Oh man, Plant announcing Since I've Been Loving You and then it not being there...damn.
I've collected Zeppelin footage for years.....THIS REALLY IS "SOMETHING ELSE" they sure are pure and fresh ...didn't they turn down a big gig in the U.S that was going to be broadcast via a satellite link ? but they flew back to do Bath, great shots of the crowd here. Its beautiful. Its Bath '70 .
Yeah
Yeah they were offered a million dollars to do a New Years Eve 1970/71 live tv show in America.
Guess this is not Live At Leeds quality is it.
Wow, look at that crowd!! What an amazing line up!!
Awful sound, but... It's still a timeless hippie time document
Sound is terrible
Plant really knew how to work it!! From head to toe. Those heels he had on were very cool. My folks wouldn't let me go to concerts. By the time I could, Led Zeppelin tossed around the idea of a reunion but agonizingly, they never did. No one was sorrier than me.

This is i gold footage
Back when concerts were awesome and raw
Jeez that battering ram of drums comes through the bad sound even , what a drummer
The video was worth it (no matter the quality or format), just for that: 09:41
What's that grey thing on the #1 Les Paul's pickguard? It's not there in other shows that I've seen.
The LP that Joe Walsh pretty much gave to him. I think JP paid a few hundred pounds.
I just had a Bath!
Wow 👍🏼
Great footage that i have never seen. Glad it showed alot of Jones and Bonham who were the thunder behind Plant and Page.
This footage with professional audio is supposed to be available in the new Becoming Led Zeppelin documentary.
When is that coming out???
@@juliemanarin4127 It was supposed to come out a few years ago, but Jimmy didn’t like the finished product, so it went back into editing. There’s been a lot more talk about it recently mentioning new footage added etc, like Bath, so I got my fingers crossed it will be soon!
true whenever it comes out tired of waiting
@@julrob97if it was good enough, there would be no need for editing.
Remarkable footage. JPJ's pants? Sartorial master.
Spotted them! 10:20
Better concerts back then than the flashy rubbish of today.
I'm not to impressed by this rubbish.
@trajan6927 not very good quality unfortunately.
Wow
WOW!!!❤
Great and I was there age 19.
🤘💙🤘
It’s peak.
fantastic !!! I wonder what they will use in the 'Becoming Led Zeppelin" film if it is ever publicly released.
My favorite Zeppelin year they never looked cooler ,Bonam the beast in more ways than one !
Same here, saw pics of them for years in these pics. Love Jonesy's jacket especially....ANd jimmy strolling through the crowd in the beginning is just so perfect.
This is fantastic. I've seen clippings of this before, but where's the sound?
💜
Interesting, there is a pro camera center stage looking right at the band in this film...there was no big screen video during concerts back then, so it can't be a 'video feed', where is that treasure?
Also have to comment (again) on Jimmy's Les Paul, is this really number 1? At 5:18 in the film, we get a great close up of the guitar, and on the pick guard (I know pick guard can and do get replaced - but Page never talked about this is any of his books), but on the pick guard is 'something' (almost looks like an emblem of something) but it is certainly not a screw to hold the pick guard on. In Jimmy Page's The Anthology book no photos of number 1 do not have this 'emblem' and in the book he shared several photos of number 1 at the time he first owned it (1969) through the 1970 US Tour. At least one photo in the book is from Bath 1970, and the 'emblem' is there. He never mentioned (in the book) that he used 'loaner' instruments, but he does not state he used number 1 at Bath 1970 either (like he does for several other shows he shared photos from in 1969 and 1970 in the book). He does not mention this 'emblem' at all in the book, but it is there, so I say it's gotta be number 1 in the video. But maybe, for some reason, Alvin Lee, or Beck or Donovan or Joe Blow said 'hey jimmy try my les paul tonight? That 'emblem' just bothers me, Jimmy please explain to us?
Yes it’s #1. You can see the same sticker at Iceland too
Creme Bridge pick up helps...as well as the woodgrain
Why was it filmed with so much jumping around ? Just like all the other clips I’ve seen , I’ve never seen a concert filmed like this. Great quality though .
귀한 필름 💕 👏👏👏👏👏

Robert looking like General George Armstrong Custer. Righteous!
Уникальные кадры легенды бонзо мир его праху такой простой Роберт очаровашка бесспорно грант глыба
This show DOES exist complete, with sound AND in better quality than this!
I saw the complete concert in Vegas in 1990 and was blown away! I've been trying so hard to prove to people ever since that it exists. It will be released in its entirety soon.
There are many other "Holy Grails" on video that exist. Some, Ive seen the entire concert and others only a song or 2.
The infamous "Blueberry Hill" bootleg show exists on video and is complete, or 90% complete, but it is not a Pro Shot piece. The audio is like the boot and the video is like the other Blueberry Hill video floating around here. I have not seen this since 1990.
I have seen 5 others, 2 Pro and 3 good audience.
Jimmy, please release the Bath show on BluRay quality, ok? And the other Pro Shots!
Remember when Page said that a whole bunch of Zepp shows would be released to celebrate their 50th a couple years ago? It never happened because "the band couldnt agree." Its mainly Plant who has become WAY too critical of his own singing. This is also why Plant never released any shows from his very successful '88 and '90 tours especially. He thinks the singing is subpar, when its not and fans would pretty much die from happieness when released.
If I'm not mistaken, there's also Liverpool 5/10/71 tape should be out somewhere.
@@reverseflash2173 Holy shit, I would love to see that footage - or even hear a decent quality audio boot of the show. The mythic Back to the Clubs tour is one of my favorite eras for Zep
I don't know about those reasons being the real reasons. Plant releases concert footage of his recent concerts, in which his voice isn't what it used to be from early 90's. Etc.
There's more to it.
I 100% believe that a full video of this show exists. Because it was also supposed to be recorded professionally along with the Royal Albert Hall show.
@@digiorno1142 It does exist, you're right. I predict we will see a wave of PRO Shot concert vids and Soundboard audios sometime this year and next.
raw and savage!
