Shanghai, Old City - China 2004 Travel Channel

Shanghai is a city of superlatives with about 18 million inhabitants, including approx 6 million migrant workers (as of 2004). Of the historic old town of Shanghai, you only see some fragments. A block was renovated, however, in the Chinese old town style. This part of Shanghai serves as a bazaar, for relaxation, and as a tourist attraction.
During our visit, a tea ceremony just took place, with a lot of media attention. It underlines the importance of tea for Chinese culture. Many famous personalities, such as the German Chancellor and other presidents, have already visited the tea house in the old town. Why not take the opportunity to watch the tea preparation and enjoy the tea afterward.
In the evenings, the old town shines brightly illuminated and is particularly fascinating.

Shanghai ist eine Stadt der Superlative, an die 18 Millionen Einwohner, davon etwa 6 Millionen Wanderarbeiter (Stand 2004). Von der eigentlichen Altstadt von Shanghai sind nur noch Fragmente zu finden. Ein Block wurde jedoch im chinesischen Altstadtstil renoviert. Dieser Teil Shanghais dient als Basar, dem Relaxen und als Touristenattraktion.
Bei unserem Besuch fand gerade eine Teezeremonie, unter großem Andrang der Medien statt. Dies unterstreicht die Bedeutung des Tees für die chinesische Kultur. Im Teehaus in der Altstadt waren schon viele bedeutende Persönlichkeiten, wie der deutsche Bundeskanzler oder andere Präsidenten zu Besuch. Hier sollte man sich nicht die Möglichkeit entgehen lassen, der Zubereitung des Tees zuzuschauen und diesen dann anschließend zu genießen.
In den Abendstunden erstrahlt die Altstadt bunt beleuchtet und wirkt dabei besonders faszinierend.
