BarakAllāhu Fīkum ikhwān, it seems one of the things mentioned in the video has caused confusion, Which is regarding whether the forearm should be covered in front of maḥrams or not. From that which is apparent, there seems to 2 sayings of ʿUlamāʾ, one is that forearms should be covered in front of maḥrams, which is the opinion mentioned by Imām al-Albānī رحمه الله in this video, and likewise by Shaykh al-ʿAllāmah ʿAbd Allāh al-Ghudayyān رحمه الله who mentioned that the body should be covered in front of maḥrams and other women because of the possibility of fitnah. Another saying of the ʿUlamāʾ like Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn رحمه الله, Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمه الله, etc. is that it is permissible to uncover the forearms in front of maḥrams and other women, but there is an important point here that both parties agree on: Which is with regards to what dress the women should wear in front of maḥrams and other women, both of them say that a woman should wear clothes that are loose and cover the entire body except the face [hair], hands, and the feet, Due to the fact that this is better and more perfect, Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمه الله said that it is more befitting for a women to cover as much as she can in front of maḥrams, because some maḥrams there is fear of perversity from them, so if she can cover everything except the hands, face, and feet, this is better for her out of precaution and staying away from the means of evil. Shaykh bin Bāz رحمه الله said although it's permissible to uncover the forearm etc, it is better out of precaution to only uncover the face hands and feet, preserving herself from the reasons of danger. Likewise Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn رحمه الله was asked about women wearing short sleeves in front of maḥrams and other women, and he answered that whenever the clothing of a woman is loose and more concealing, it is better. And that it not befitting for women to become lax and lenient in this matter. The Shaykh said: "I fear that if I say there is no problem in uncovering her forearms in front of maḥrams and other women, that the woman will remain upon this for a long period of time then she will shift to uncovering her upper arms, then her shoulder, then she will start wearing short clothes, women don't have a limit if you open the door [of being lenient] for them." The Shaykh said it is befitting for a women that her sleeves be long enough till the palms, regardless of whether it's in front of women or maḥrams, this is what is better and more precautionary, as for the issue of limits, then yes there's no problem in uncovering the forearm in front of other women and maḥrams. At another occasion the Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn رحمه الله said, it is a must that a woman wears loose and concealing clothes that cover her body, in front of maḥrams, but if it were to happen that she needs to roll up her sleeves and uncover her forearms because of some work, and there are maḥrams or other women around her, then there's no problem, the Shaykh said there's a difference between what clothes one must wear in front of maḥrams/women, and what can be uncovered in front of them, the clothes must be concealing. Hence my brothers and sisters, we should listen to the advice of the ʿUlamāʾ and practice precaution, even if there's a difference of opinion, there is agreement that it is better, more perfect and precautionary from evil, that a women covers herself entirely in front of maḥrams and women, except that which is normally uncovered like the face, hair, hands, and feet. We ask Allāh and conceal our ʿAwrah and conceal our sins, and to grant us ḥayāʾ and chastity.
Assalaamu alaikum, jazakAllaahu khair for the clarification. I have extremely limited knowledge of the Arabic language but based on the translation the part of the arm referenced in the video was the “upper arm” and not the “forearm”. I don’t intend to make light of the views of our mashaayikh but just so the translation can be understood how it was intended In shaa Allaah. Please correct me if I’m mistaken, wa baarakAllaahu feekum.
@@PoetriiseStanzafyah BarakAllāhu Fīkum the word used by the Shaykh was الزندين, if you research and go back to the Arabic lexicons like E.W. Lane, you will not find that it means upperarm, rather it means close to what the translation in the video states, JazākumAllahu Khayran, and Allāh knows best
Sorry, I watched the video again and I had missed that the Sheikh mentioned both the upper arm and the forearm. I understand your clarification better now sorry for the confusion, baarakAllaahu feek
This is an issue that is very important, yet not mentioned enough. Wearing such garments at home is bad enough, but its even worse when there is a young girl in the family that is taking time to start hijab, so she wears the same things outside. I've see it happen before - a woman in a niqab and her 11 or 12 year old daughter is in shorts. Sisters we should not adopt western wardrobes, or lifestyles. Do not look towards immoral people or stare at them on social media. You will unknowingly become impressed with them and will make them your idols (may Allah protect us). Personal thoughts: I wear shalwar khameez (Pakistani clothes) at home because they're nice and modest. Some of my friends think its weird that I never wear a T shirt and jeans at home, and i think thats weird because they are Pakistanis themselves. I feel like most of the world is beginning to make western clothes normal, so we should try to stick to our traditional clothing (if it is modest). Do not sway with the trends. The reasons why im emphasising on traditional clothing is because if you wear western clothes, even if they're modest, as time goes on you might be inclined to clothes that are more and more revealing ( because thats whats more trendy and normal in terms of western culture). Plus the enemies of islam want you to disassociate with and look down on your culture and language so you can adopt something that is miles ahead in immorality. May Allah preserve us all.
Totally agree sister, unfortunately pakistan woman have also started wearing western clothes, i don't get it why pakistani people wants to wear jeans because our clothes are stylish and trendy and most importantly modest, i think it is all because of inferiority complex
There is nothing wrong in wearing clothes like that in front of your husband only. It doesn't matter whether something is western or eastern or northern or southern, do not introduce new things into Islam.
May Allah protect and clothe our mothers and sisters and the muslimeen of the women, and guard their chastity and avert the gaze of men away from them. May Allah strengthen their taqwa and imaan, and guide them to the straight path.
This alien to me and my folks we always cover up in front of our males even though they are our blood and same body almost. It’s about respect and common sense.
Assalaamu alaikum! Please make du'a for our new revert sisters in the West, where things like wearing makeup and form-fitting clothes are the norm. This is the lie of Shaitan: "everyone will think you're crazy or dangerous," etc. On the contrary, when I made the change and was so worried about coworkers, I only felt awkward for an hour maybe - *no one cared!* People at work were curious for a minute so I'd tell them I converted to Islam and then they just didn't care. Business as usual. That's not to say relatives and parents won't care. It has only been in the past 30-40 years in the West that those things were no longer shunned. Prior to that, it was mainly what prostitutes, drag stars and actors wore. Now girls begin to wear makeup before they're even in their teens. 😔. Astaghfirullah. They also wear skimpy clothing in public. And so our new sisters struggle to wear hijab and give up their tight clothes and makeup. Let us all show compassion instead of blunt criticism, and rather encourage them to advance in modesty and good character.

Which is with regards to what dress the women should wear in front of maḥrams and other women, both of them say that a woman should wear clothes that are loose and cover the entire body except the face [hair], hands, and the feet,
Due to the fact that this is better and more perfect, Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمه الله said that it is more befitting for a women to cover as much as she can in front of maḥrams, because some maḥrams there is fear of perversity from them, so if she can cover everything except the hands, face, and feet, this is better for her out of precaution and staying away from the means of evil. The Shaykh said it is befitting for a women that her sleeves be long enough till the palms, regardless of whether it's in front of women or maḥrams, this is what is better and more precautionary, as for the issue of limits, then yes there's no problem in uncovering the forearm in front of other women and maḥrams.
