    I currently have the Asvine V126, P20, & M169. All have been great writers straight out of the box; no nib tuning needed, and they are nice and wet, without being too wet. Currently the P20 is my favorite. I have also ordered an Asvine P80.

    Just got my first Asvine and, while it doesn't quite match my HongDians, it's certainly a really good pen.

      @@Doodlebud I discovered Aurora pens in the mid 00s. 88s and Optima's mostly. These days they are super expensive, so I mostly pick up new purchases by buying used.

    If it's the same nib unit as the V169 and a few others, they sell a pack of EF/F/M for a very good price. With most pen makers, nib size is pretty much a final decision.

    Surprisingly, for me Asvine EF nibs have been very dry and hard as nails, Hongdian EF is way better. But F has been just fantastic, I even ordered some spare nibs so I can fit them in other pens, you can buy only the nib or the entire unit, even in that sense Asvine has done its homework quite impeccably, they have a bright future.

    I love that cloud color/pattern so much, but then I looked up the pen and the pink and the yellow options are also so beautiful it's hard to choose. They're really knocking it out of the park with their colours

    I have a number of P & V models and love them all, they all worked right out of the box and even after sitting for six or more months, write first time every time; no leaks, no burps and no skips.

    I wonder if the turns to cap-off as an advantage depends upon whether you use a pen carrier. I usually do, but I almost always have one or two pens in my suit pocket (rather than shirt, because most of my pens are longer than the shirt pocket accommodation). Before pen carriers, I ruined a suit (of course, my best and most expensive), because the cap came off. You look in your suit pocket and the cap is still there. By the time I what had happened, ink had already done its thing. We all know about capillary action, and it works really well with expensive wool suits. SO, MY POINT: Do I want a pen that has a cap with a 1-turn off? Now, my question though: does it make a difference whether it is one-turn off or even 3? Once the pen cap starts the turns, is it inevitable? I know you are telling me to just not put one in my coat. I try. But, I don’t always have a desk or table, so it is helpful to have one pen, or if ink volume could be an issue, then two pens handy. THANKS FOR THE REVIEW OF THAT P50. As always, I don’t need it, but I may buy one. THE CHINESE NEED CLEARLY UNDERSTANDS THAT INFLUENCERS, ESPECIALLY WITH AN ENGINEERING BACKGROUND, DO GET US TO BUY THEIR PENS! :)

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  5 місяців тому

      The number of turns isn't so much the key to ensuring a cap doesn't come undone. Having a thread stop designed into the pen helps a bunch. It puts force on the side profile of the threads which helps keep them locked in

    Hi Mr Doodlebud, thanks for another great video. I really like what Asvine and Hongdian are currently doing, they both make excellent pens. And in my mind they are way better than PENBBS now because Asvine and Hongdian aren't making silly filling systems that don't work, both companies are refining their pens rather than coming out with wacky designs or copying others. Great job Asvine for a pen that just does everything we want from a pen.
    Ps, would be nice if we could see more of the Doodlebud, I would love to see the man behind the camera sometimes. I really enjoy your videos. Between yourself, Doug, and Chris Rap52 I'm spoilt with so many great reviews. Thanks goes out to yourself and the others, cheers.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  5 місяців тому +1

      I think we're happy to pay $30,$40, or more if you get improved quality in return. There's still a place for the crazy cheap $2 or $3 pen, but I've seen what can be done for just a little bit more. Then when they increase the price to around $30 you're able to get a well built piston or vac fill pen which is pretty remarkable.

    Sounds like an excellent pen for the money. Bock nibs aren’t universally loved although I’ve found them okay. TBH they have a huge share of the UK market for Ti nibs but their stainless steel nibs aren’t awe inspiring It’s good that Asvine are producing nibs that can better Bock nibs. The Asvine isn’t one for me but an excellent choice for many, I imagine long term reliability would be excellent. Great video thanks Doodle Bud

    Hi,
    Hope this finds you well
    First of all I wanted to thank you for your wonderful reviews
    I really enjoy your unusual take on pens and the info you can provide because of your engineering background.
    May I ask a little question?
    I saw your review of the Asvine p50 and wanted to ask if you know if the threading of the ones that comes with an Asvine nib is Bock 250 competiable?
    Though I don’t really like the stock bock nibs being able to use FNF housing in such a ( relatively) low cost pen can be a true game changer
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Asvine nice pens BUT stick to one fill method.
    It is too easy to blob a bunch of ink if you confuse two essentially identical pens.
    They write very well, smooth, fits my hand nicely.
    Demonstrator transparency see inside if you are a glasses person.
    Just put ink in it.. the vac fill will write dry as it should when closed down.
    I store my pens nib up, so they will not always start perfectly.
    Examine writing samples to see if one nib reads better for your audience.
    Less bother than most pens. Good value for a vac or piston filler.

    high quality "Asvine" ? Use it intensively for a while and you will realize the high quality of this Chinese garbage. I prefer to spend my money on real pens. Any Pelikan M200 can be inherited by your grandchildren, and you will also have a pen with history. Most Chinese fountain pens are copies of iconic models, made with very poor materials.
