- Roy Williams sounds off after No. 11 North Carolina losses to No. 7 Michigan 84-67. Williams says he has done the worst job in his 31 years of coaching with this team so far than any other team. He gives Michigan credit for making the tougher plays and out shooting the Tar Heels all game.

He always says this when he loses, I'm a UNC fan and have watched the Heels since the early 80's....the problem with Roy, is that when he has great talent, he looks like a great coach, as anyone would. When he has mediocre talent, compared to the talent Duke, UK, The Zags and such have, like a lot of this team is, his stubbornness, and unwillingness to change his philosophies hurts him and his team. He wants to run run run all the time, and sometimes, he doesn't have the pieces to do that. It strikes me as strange that, given he cut his teeth under Dean, he'd be a better strategist....but it takes what seems to be a hit to his pride in order for him to "change his style". He has 2 of the best Freshmen in the country on his team in Coby White and Nassir Little. Little isn't even starting because well, there are "upper class-men" like Johnson and Williams. Coby is showing a lot of promise, he's a bit out of control at times, but Nassir looks lost, and not like the #6 recruit in the country. I am about 100% sure it's because he isn't happy with coming off the bench. He'd be starting at Duke, UK etc.... He's more talented than Johnson, or Williams, but he's not being given the opportunity to really show it. This is another reason Roy is not getting the kinds of recruits he used to as well.

@@iatros5408 The man has won almost 79% of his games for 30 years. As UNC coach 5 final fours and 3 Championships in 15 years. Sure he recruits talent but nobody wins consistently for 30 years without talent. At the same time people say he always has 3 or 4 lottery picks per team which isn't quite accurate, for example 15 years at Kansas think he had only 14 first round picks but still won .805 . Also you still have to get talent to play together.
Michigan is just balling and john the most underrated coach in the ncaa hes always making something out of nothing and hes dome better than izzo since hes started give him some love

Roy was subbing like a YMCA game, shit was hilarious. Played 12 guys by halftime lol. The starters actually were won the minutes they were all on the court together. Oh and he uses a top 5 pick like a normal bench scrub lol. Roy is unreal haha

@@mrhoopfan1 The supposed top 5 pick isn't being used properly. The guy should be starting, he would be at Duke or KY, and I can guarantee you he isn't happy about coming off the bench. Roy likes tradition too much. The reason Nassir isn't starting is because of the upper-classmen that play his position that are ahead of him. He isn't in a role he is used to. I guarantee you, you start the guy,m and give him more of a leash, the guy will produce that top 5 talent.

@@mrhoopfan1 Like my post said....he should be starting. He's a top 5 talent for a reason, and I can guarantee you he didn't expect to be coming off the bench. A guy like Leaky Black, sure, he's farther behind in his development....but Nassir should be starting, and I betcha money if he were, his numbers would go up.

If Luke Maye was a Preseason All American, then they need to take his name off the list. Terrible the last 3 games and his defense has been sloppy to start the season. Brooks struggles to finish at the rim, Johnson and Williams are inconsistent.

Well he did go to Kentucky so i guess he was right.
Obviously he didnt want to waste his time on a kid that had already made his mind up. He tried, realized he couldnt pull him away from Kentucky, and moved on. Nothing wrong with that.

Williams keeps letting teams go on runs instead of calling timeout , he acts as if someone's in his family is going to die if he calls timeout. He needs to start Little he will never be able to get into a rhythm as a bench player , Maye and Kenny aren't ready to go against more talented teams , they only shine when the talent on the other team isn't as good .

Williams can stay, he is our best defensive player and has a ton of energy. Maye however can sit for all i care. He shows how talented he is against trash teams. He shoots decent, but plays terrible defense. White, Little, Williams, Johnson, Brooks. Luke Maye was garbage against Texas, UCLA the first half, and Michigan the entire game.

uthamanj I am. That was embarrassing! I’ve been watching UNC basketball since Roy has been there. I’ve seen the highest of highs (3 titles), and the lowest of lows. This is one of the lows. Go Heels.. God help us with Gonzaga and Kentucky
@@Christopher-ms5ke Well you go right ahead and stress over it. I've watched UNC since Dean Smith, they always have one or two games like this early in the season. UNC is known for finishing strong. The season is still young.
Have to take a lesson from Coach K,,, he’s shown everyone that he can take a team to the Championship Games with only 5 or 6 players ... not 10 or 12 ... But UNC might make the field of 64 ,, might ....
