Where are all my 70 babies raised in the 80s ? This is all we did down South baby. I’m so damn happy to see the skating culture is still alive. I remember Superskate on Tidwell and Mesa. Now it’s a Kipp Academy. Damn I’m old

Skating gave me a lot a wife 2 kids and 4 grand kids i miss it no good rinks here anymore we have to drive over an hour to get to one . I'm glad the skate culture is still strong in some places

it doesnt matter where you look on UA-cam, you WILL NOT find another channel that puts you IN the rink, in that inner circle of people like these, shining like stars, that even if you never meet them , you feel like you're there with them.

left NYC in 1982..haven't skated since.. in 2018 was diagnosed as not to be able to walk again.. Fooled them rehab, by the sweet GRACE of GOD and my own determination I will not only walk but run and SKATE TOO !! got my CHICAGO'S staked with Precision bearings and great wheels.... thanks to Mr. RICK @ ROLLER SKATEs OF AMERICA IN Lawndale, CA.. I will be out there West Covina, Pasadena, Rose Bowl and VENICE..

I moved to Houston four yrs ago and had no idea. My sister and I use to go skating every weekend in austin when we were younger. I would love to do it again.

I never skated in my life and don't know anything about it (randomly ran across this video) - but this, THIS, I can rock with.
All I can say though, damn my people got so much swag, rhythm, style, finess, grace and can make damn near anything lit or look good. Plus, good to see my people genuinely having fun /without the drama.

Shalam, Brother. Naw, you're wrong. I just copped some skates after 25+ years of not having skated. My daughter saw some old Skate Key vids and asked if I went there when I was young. Soon as I said yes, she was looking for spots. Lefrak Center/Prospect Park is dope. Brooklyn Bridge has a nice view but you're forced to wear wrist guards. The best bang for your buck is Branchbrook, in Newark. Longest skate times and it's peaceful. Have met many brothers and sisters. All love. Good fun, mixed with cardio, for the babies.

I just got my first pair of quads in over 20 years. I’m hoping the local rink opens this spring/summer. I’m excited to start skating again.

It was entirely too much traffic for me to get out there and trust someone with my setup. I'd cry if someone were to trip my friend while he recorded me. I know my trust and ability to maneuver through people but not anyone else's.

Ahhhhhh this brings back memories. I started skating at 2. And skated 3-5 days a week. I took figure skating lessons on roller skates. I am 57 and I was disabled by a car accident 20 yrs ago. I could do all of what I see and more. I'd love to see one of these really good spinners try a flying camel spin . Thats on one leg forwards or backwards with one leg at a 90 degree angle going in a tight circle. The only bad thing I can say is there are too many skaters on that rink to have some real fast synchronized jumping and spinning, kicking your feet upward to your head fun . Great video.

I was mesmerised by what was going on in the middle.
Back in the 80’s Houston’s Rainbow Skating Rink and Fondren Great Skate were the places to get your skate on.. Good to see these places still exist in the H-Town. The last one here in San Diego closed down about 2-3 years ago.. Places where people of color can go and enjoy a drama free time are slowly disappearing. Oh yeah, you still can’t top a step show on skates. 🤘🏾
In the early 80s it was Gulfgate for me then Lockwood, Palm Center, Almeda.

hello Malik..You actually peaked my interest in skating in Texas. I went to a Black owned rink in Houston and skated 2 days there.The food and people were incredible and the skating scene is alive and kicking. From there,I visited San Antonio and skated there and in Austin, and had a great time. Hell yeah I will be back, and I need some suggestions which rinks to definitely visit...

I miss skating much it used to be such fun the scene died here locally for me we still have a skate rink but it is like a ghost town and that is such a shame considering how free we felt skating many years ago
