Clive used to hit the ball so hard.
It was not easy to bat on these bouncy tracks with Lillee and Thompson coming at you from both ends, but, the class of the West Indian top five batsmen was second to none. They had the best opening pair and were backed by Richards and Clive.
What a team!
The West indies Team was rated as the best one day International Cricket Team the world has ever seen. The batting, bowling and fielding was awesome to look at and a classic and stylish and skilled all round team put together. The West Indies bowling attack of: Roberts, Holding, Croft and Garner was also rated as the number one bowling attack of all time and was absolutely most devastating too.
Still remember that Garner's fiery spell that brought west indies back into the game ...
What a captain 's knock by Lloyd ....!
As a West Indian I have hardly heared people speak of how fantastic a batsman Clive Lloyd was
@@krishnarajagopalan528 Brilliant analysis , love the way you describe the greatness of Sir Clive Lloyd.
Windies had a tremendous batting line up. Fredricks, Greenidge, Haynes, Richards, Kallicharan , Dujon. In his early days they even had Sobers, Kanhai. And still commentators said insured with Lloyd (windies batting).
That's is Clive Lloyd for cricket lovers. Wait , I haven't added his excellent fielding skills or the new trend he set in captaincy such as no spinner in playing XI and creating opportunities to win tests....
Great knock by Sir Clive Lloyd 👍👍❤❤❤❤
This was an golden era of west Indian teams
One of the greatest captains in cricket World.During his captaincy tenure West Indies were number one in cricket.Fredricks,Greenidge,Viv.Richards,Clive Lloyd,CollisKing,Dujon(keeping)Andy Roberts,Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Colin Craft,Malcom Marshall Brian Lara were the assets of West Indies team.Demond Haynes,Chandra paul,Carl Hooper, Lawrence Rowe and Jimmi Adams also played very important roles in West Indies team.In earlier days Gary Sobers played an anchor role in West Indies team.
Never talked on same terms of other great batters unfortunately, a true beast of a batsman
From 1973 onwards, Lloyd really flourished as a batsman in test cricket
After dat match it had a post dat said having steared his team to a remarkable victory skipper lloyd is lift off the field by his fast bowling staff holding garner clark and croft
Super upload - thanks for this. Aussie fielding appalling.
Thanks- great comeback by the Windies to level the series- helped by some terrible fielding.
@@Dinesh-nx4lh Yes. It was one of the great test matches. I followed the match from the newspaper reports only - no Tv or internet in those days. Aussies were 341-4 going into last day. Draw strong favourite. Lost last 6 wickets for 24.
For years I have been looking for something on YT about it so it was really great to see this. What truly shocked me was the Aussie fielding - those were not difficult catches. Thanks again for the super upload.
@@Dinesh-nx4lh Morning. Thanks for letting me know. I have just watched it. Brilliant stuff. The Aussies really must wonder how they didn't at least draw this game (1-0 series win). Hadn't realised they had so many players injured on last day though. Great upload - very rare. Thank you for sharing.
@@David_F579 thanks mate- yes all the dropped catches surprised me- that cost the Aussies big time.
Awesome stuff, much of the highlights of the last day of this incredible Test has been missing for a long time…if you have anything from earlier in the WI second inns please advise!
Hi Lawrie, yes what a series! I think I do have the windies innings highlights
@@Dinesh-nx4lh cool Dinesh I can help with the rest of the match if you want …let’s touch base
@@colliver069 can upload sometime soon once I get to my archives. Do you remember a wide world of sports 1984 short musical clip- Another one bites the dust of Aussies dropping catches vs Windies. It was so good- had it on video but it no longer plays
@@colliver069 you may like my latest uploads - more footage from this game
Catches win matches
West Indies were the champions and Aussies England Pakistan were the challengers...out of the blue INDIA went on to win the world cup. ..
How many dropped catches, time and time again throughout this period Australia fielding was lamentable, no wonder the Windies were so good
Lloyd is lift off the field by his fast bowling staff holging garner croft and clark
Not sure why Lloyd just ignores the other batter....
Notice no fielder in close catching position when Lloyd was batting ... you'd have to be a rank moron or ultra confident about your face or pelvis not being permanently damaged.
Appalling umpiring.
truly appalling Aussie fielding
Lloyd's batsmanship,1973 till retirement, was a class apart. Not talked about much, given his leadership and the batting of Richards.
He was also one of the world's best batsman for a dozen years!
