  • Gameplay of the hidden character Yoshimitsu in the Nintendo Gamecube port of Namco’s SoulCalibur II/Soul Calibur 2.
You’ll see this in the rest of my Yoshimitsu playthroughs, but I just generally tend to prefer his kicks. He has a wide variety of them borrowed from Tekken, they hit hard, they’re quicker than his weapon attacks, etc.
My fucking God, the AI in this game is obnoxious. I mean, just the absolute most obnoxious bullshit I’ve run into for a fair while. We all know that Namco games move-read in the first place but this is way, WAY too much. It’s insane, because certain moves are absolutely useless against the AI. Just useless. As in they will never hit them, and will always be blocked, reflected or dodged, making their inclusion pointless. I haven’t seen something like that since the mid-90s KOF games! It’s honestly some pretty terrible programming on Namco’s part, and were it not for the design and the content of this game being so strong this AI would honestly make it a pretty ghastly experience on the whole. That said, the AI luckily does often fall for Yoshimitsu’s kick attacks (as it will from now on anyway), which is good as his regular strikes seem to be (surprise surprise) too slow and ineffective to be useful, especially against an AI which just blocks or dodges everything. This series was always flawed, quite frankly, and we’ll see many other instances of that again.
Also, say goodbye to his pogo sword attacks, because we won’t be seeing those again.

Gotta love how some of the weapons causes matches to end almost instantly. I always liked how the unlockable weapons in the series (except in SC and SCV) felt different from each other not only in terms of appearance but also in terms of gameplay.

It might not be balanced but it does make for a very unique and interesting experience. As I've said to a few other people, the earlier games of the simple stand up to this day because of elements like that, crossed with an easy-to-learn fighting system which you can get used to quite quickly. The different weapon variants are a key element to keeping combat interesting in a game with somewhat limited variety, hence why it works so well.

No wonder Maximilian did a Boss Rage of this game cuz jfc, thought he got quite lucky with it. Also, this is one of the best playthroughs you've done, this pogo spam was hillarious lmao.

Haha, thanks. It's always fun to dick around when able, which there's still plenty more to see in regards to that.

The immortal ninja clan...that stupid Natsu implied in project x zone 2 that his clan is around since the soul Calibur era and here it is...and it has ninjas from till the present day...

Zontar82 was typing too fast from my cellphone...in the crossover rpg from 3ds, project x zone 2 ,there is that Natsu girl from soul Calibur 5,she is taki apprentice it seems (though she is a complete idiot in my opinion)and she ends up with your party in the modern days....she mentions surprised that the manji clan is still around till this day(the tekken timeline)....so she was telling the truth by seeing this video with Yoshimitsu being in soul Calibur.

The AI is fairly stupid against throws (I get a lot of Ring Outs with Raphael's B+G throw), but I've noticed that you rarely use throws.

The sword pogo move has always been one of Yoshimitsu's moves since he first appeared in Soul Calibur 1. It never got removed, but it's pretty much useless.
