- Sarah's grandmother Lillian Bruno passed away and we flew to Minnesota to be a part of her Celebration of Life. She lived a full life up until her death at age 98 on March 10, 2024. Jeff captured the spirit of this amazing woman in a 2019 video and an interview. She reflected on her struggles in life, anecdotes of granddaughters Sarah and Shannon, attending an early Frank Sinatra concert in San Francisco and the troubling days following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941.

We had a dear friend that passed away in 2018, at the age of 92. She was also born in 1925.
Our friend always said if you want to know something about the old days, you better ask it soon.” “ I’m not gonna be around much longer to ask “.

@@jbenziggy FYI. I found the opening of the calm water juxtaposed with the long dock, the gray sky, and the barren branches to be a total metaphor of the feeling of loss I have felt. Even the standard practice of turning a row boat over held meaning for me. Your videography is beautiful. Thank you.

What a beautiful lady Lillian was! That was a great idea to interview her! I wish I had done that with my mom before Alzheimer’s took over. Lillian looked fantastic for her age! Back when women got dressed up to go shopping or to appointments. Sarah looks a lot like her grandmother. Sending love, hugs and healing thoughts to Sarah, Jeff and the entire family! ❤

That was a sweet tribute. I was surprised to see she was a Roosevelt High grad. My wife graduated Roosevelt in 1970.

I am sorry for your loss. I am a Grandma's girl and am not looking forward to the day I have to say goodbye. Grandma's are truly special. My Great Grandma lived to be 96 years old.

You know, they are never really gone completely from our lives. A small spark of their life remains in your heart forever. !
Lillian certainly led an eventful life just short of one hundred years. My grandmother, Anna, lived until ninety-nine years old, just two days shy of her hundredth birthday. I'm glad you were all able to spend some quality time, Jeff.
Wow! I use to drive up Cedar Ave by Roosevelt High School all the time on my way to work to Boss Radio KYNO-Fresno. The Roosevelt "Rough Riders." Just a block south was the Fresno County General Hospital that Lilian talks about. My brother was born there. In front of the Hospital still stands the Great Fresno County Fairgrounds. Corner of Cedar and Kings Canyon Boulevard.
I really enjoyed this synopsis of Lilian. Born in Caruthers( I picked grapes for raisins as a migrant worker in my youth) south of Fresno. Lived a full life! Blessed many in life and I am blessed to know her story. Rest In Peace.

Very sorry for your loss Sarah and Jeff. Thank you for sharing your Grandmother with your viewers. Brings me to memories of my grandparents and even great grandparents. I really enjoyed the life interview with Lillian. We did similar with all my grandparents and I still on occasion play them for myself or my boys.
Been to Forest Lake, MN a few times as both my parents families are from the Twin Cities. I was born in Bloomington and lived there a few years before my father’s job moved us to SF. I have family from both sides all over the area and have been back countless times over the yrs.
I left that area truly wanting more! It’s so beautiful and sparsely populated. I long for such a green and serene place! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!

My condolences for your loss. May she Rest in Peace. Even as a kid i listened to the older generations about life. Great Grandma and Grandpa, Great Great Uncles and Aunts. I learned a lot of old old skills, such as making fire without matches or a lighter. They have so much to pass on. I am from the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. People from older generations know so much that isn't written down, listen to them. Again my deepest condolences on your family's loss, she seems like she was a Great Lady.

Hi Connie! What town was it that you attended school? We traveled to North Branch, Maplewood, White Bear, Stillwater, Cambridge, Hugo and Lino Lakes. We got around during our week there. We flew back home last Friday.
It was outside of circle pines and I attended Lovell elementary School. In the summer we were always at Forest lake taking lessons and swimming. It truly is a small world after all

99 is a nice long life but dementia is a horrible way to end it.
@@jbenziggy she could remember things from 50 years ago easily but couldn’t remember me. When my son was born in 92 she thought that was me.

I was more than eager to do this tribute to your grandmother because I loved her dearly and considered her like my grandmother.
