Ashwell Spring In The Evening

In the cool shade of the majestic, silent trees.
Also seen is the Ashwell "lock-up" built in 1800' ...It still has its original studded plank door in an oak frame, and a barred iron grille above.. After a prisoner tunnelled out, the authorities decided the lock up was no longer fit for purpose. It was used as a lock-up until the early years of the 20th century, and thereafter housed the parish fire engine.

Wow! So many beautiful things I've seen during your walk to the springs! The church, the almost surreal looking purple leaved tree! 👀 Those wonderful narrow cozy roads! The mouse! The apple core! 😄That huge chestnut tree! The bird sounds ! Nature! The village lock-up! (Looks a bit scary.) The amazing sunset ..... and then : the stunning springs!! What an amazing walk sweetie!!
