Hi guys, have done the Gibb in 2019, absolutely confirm your specs, no worries about the Gibb, have your truck well serviced, good tires, 25 psi, take your time, no rush and you will pass withou issues. We were towing an off-road camper trailer, used 22l diesel per 100km in a LC 200. Would suggest to spend some time at Munuru camp, nice rock art in this region, it is worth to spend a night at the bush camp there. Next to the well known places along the Gibb we‘ve enjoyed Mornington very much , have spent 3 nights there and have explored the region, was worth to do. Would for sure do the Gibb again, was very impressive, have met lovely people on the road and during camping, some even became new friends. So go out and do the Gibb! Cheers, mates !👍👍
Holly & Matt thanks for the video 👍👍👍
Dalmanyi - Bell Gorge is forever special for me, 30+ years ago, I got chills just googling photos now! That was a worse road than you had to the Mitchell Plateau, actually, it wasn't corrugations, just slow wheeling. I think it is a hell of a lot more popular now than when I went twice as a kid in the early 90's, so the road must be way better now. Manning Gorge and Mount Elizabeth also come to mind. It's been a long long time and I'll have to consult my childhood diaries and photo albums
Thanks Guys, Sounds like Matt has a bit of fix up work on the FJ.
There are no salties in the Drysdale anywhere near the station, because there's a massive waterfall called Solea Falls many, many kms downstream.
I agreed. The GRR did not live up to my expectations, and it was our first time, too. I think we went two weeks after you guys and we did the Gibb thoroughly (of course didn't do Wash Point). Start off from El Questro, Mitchell Falls and even did Mt Barnett gorge but still disappointed. We might do again in the future probably a the start of the dry season so there might be lot of water left to cross and crocs to see.
As I said before…
The Mitchell falls road is the worst you will experience ANYWHERE
I have been going in here since the early 90’s and it never disappoints
But so worth it when you get there
Cheers guys
Great times , don't worry about the small stuff ,
Cheers...great to hear some real time opinions...take care.
You guys should do the Oombulgurri Track - goes from near Home Valley Station to Kalumburu- you need to go with indigenous guide - Ronnie Morgan from Just Over the Hills was our guide - hard going and extraordinary trip
Lovely ep guys great tips, , last time I did the Gibb was in 1988 with my mum and dad and my brother and his wife and kids it was fantastic did Mitchell falls, Crystal creek, Port Wanderer, the fishing was good, spent 3 to 4 weeks at Jakes beach up from Kalumburu the fishing was insane, we had a trip of a life time, hopefully go back with my wife and kids next year,
Did it in 2016 and loved it to bits. Took the 120 prado and a Tambo camper. Took the camper to Mitchell Falls and it just bounced around behind us. Planning on doing a month next time and checking out Kalumburu and other parts we missed. It would be a shame to seal all of it. Thanks for the video.
At least Ellen got the last word in! 😀
Holly looks so much like Courtney from Spiritbox
Nice story...
maybe just use some older maps; the modern map apps generally do not show the good stuff!!
Do you guys recommend Hema GPS for navigations along Gibb River?
Yeah we use it and they are pretty good maps :) we have it on the iPad and car headunit
